Portland man sentenced to 30 months in prison for throwing rock at ICE officer during protest
A man who admitted to assaulting a federal officer during protests outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland, Oregon, last year was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on Thursday.
Robert Jacob Hoopes previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a federal employee with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, Hoopes threw a rock during a June 2025 protest that struck an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer in the face, "causing significant injury."
Prosecutors said the officer's wound bled heavily and obstructed his vision. The officer also required medical treatment beyond basic first aid.

"Today’s message is clear — violence is not a protest," U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon Scott Bradford said in a statement. "When you cross the line and assault a federal officer, you will be prosecuted."
In addition to the prison sentence, Hoopes was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay more than $8,000 in restitution.
As previously reported by Fox News Digital, FBI investigators identified Hoopes using facial recognition technology.
According to charging documents, investigators submitted a photograph published by OregonLive.com into commercially available facial recognition software.
Federal authorities said the software generated approximately 30 potential matches from publicly available databases.
Investigators then reviewed the results and identified a photograph on a Reed College SmugMug page titled "Canyon Day April ’23." Prosecutors said a tattoo visible on the individual's forearm matched a tattoo seen on the suspect during the June 14 protest.

Hoopes' father, Tom Hoopes, previously described his son as a "lifelong Quaker who is deeply committed to pacifism" in an interview with KATU.
While he did not dispute that his son attended the protest, he declined to discuss his specific involvement.
"What his involvement was: I can’t speak to that, but he is deeply committed to justice," KATU quoted him as saying.
The Justice Department has pursued cases against numerous individuals accused of assaulting federal officers during protests tied to President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
More recently, clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement outside Delaney Hall, an immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey, have resulted in dozens of arrests.

Carolina Hurricanes fend off late Golden Knights charge to come within one win of a Stanley Cup
This Stanley Cup Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights has been one of the wildest in recent memory, if not ever.
After four thrillers, including two insane games in Vegas, the series shifted back to Raleigh for Game 5, with the two teams knotted at 2-2.
This was one of the slower starts in a series filled with quick strikes, but one thing that's been constant throughout? Self-inflicted penalties.

The Hurricanes were whistled for one of those a few minutes before the halfway point of the first period when Nikolaj Ehlers shot a puck over the glass, and it didn't take Vegas long to make them pay.
Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev capitalized on the ensuing power play, burying Vegas' first shot of the night off a terrific feed from Jack Eichel.
However, just minutes later, Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal — who is having the Cup Final of his life — extended his scoring streak to five games on a slick redirection off a pass from Ehlers (redemption!) to even things up.
That tied the record for the longest goal streak in Stanley Cup Final history. Staal had just two goals this postseason before the series started.
Carolina opened the second period killing off another penalty — another delay-of-game infraction, if you can believe that — but it was back-to-back penalties for Vegas that led to a Hurricanes goal.
Just one second after the Golden Knights killed off a Jeremy Lauzon roughing penalty, Brayden McNabb took an ill-advised cross-checking penalty to send Carolina back on the power play.
That's when Andrei Svechnikov gave the Canes a 2-1 lead.

Svechnikov was one of the big guns for the Canes who needed to find the goal column. The other? Sebastian Aho, and he did just that only a few minutes later.
As if things weren't bad enough for the Golden Knights in the second frame, one of their key players, William Karlsson, exited the game and did not return.
On to the third, where the story continued to be the Golden Knights taking bad penalties, something that is wildly out of character for them.
This time, it was their captain Mark Stone who clipped Carolina's Jalen Chatfield with a high stick. Worse yet, he caught him enough to draw blood, earning himself a double minor.
One that the Hurricanes converted with Svechnikov scoring his second of the evening to hand them a 4-1 lead.
If you have watched any of this series, you'll know that nothing comes easy, and not long after Carolina extended their lead, Dorofeyev potted his second of the game to cut the deficit to two.
Then, in what has happened in just about every game this series, that goal kicked off a feverish Vegas push that resulted in several scoring chances.
Carolina held on, but with just 2:13 left, Nikolaj Ehlers was whistled for delay-of-game.
Vegas then pulled the goalie to go on a 6-on-4 power play.
The Golden Knights set up and got some great chances, including one for Tomas Hertl who was robbed by Bussi — who had 22 saves on 24 shots — with 80 seconds left in regulation.
The late penalty kill gave the Canes carte blanche to take 200-foot shots at the empty net, and that helped to bleed time off the clock and help them hang on to that 4-2 lead.
Carolina now leads the series 3-2 as it shifts back to Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on Sunday, where the Hurricanes will have a chance to clinch their second Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Clark had a monster game, tallying a double-double with 32 points and 10 assists. She added seven rebounds and went 15-of-15 from the charity stripe.
Chicago put up a fight in the third quarter, outscoring the Fever 39-27.
The Sky hit several miraculous shots down the stretch while trailing by five with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. A quick field goal, followed by a game-tying Skylar Diggins three-pointer, sent the game into overtime, to the surprise of many Fever fans.

ESPN's Mike Greenberg calls misbehaving Knicks fans 'a disgrace' after eggs thrown at Wembanyama
The San Antonio Spurs' historic collapse in Game 4 of the NBA Finals was capped by one final indignity. NBA star Victor Wembanyama was struck by an egg that appeared to be thrown by taunting Knicks fans as the Spurs made their way back to the team hotel.
Footage circulating on social media showed at least one egg being thrown in Wembanyama’s direction as security personnel escorted him into a New York City hotel. It's the latest in a string of headline-grabbing incidents involving Knicks fans in recent days.
The aftermath of San Antonio’s Game 3 victory spilled beyond the arena, as social media videos seemingly showed Knicks fans physically confronting Spurs supporters. Some of those Spurs fans appeared to have their jerseys ripped off during the exchanges, prompting Wembanyama to condemn the behavior.

"My thoughts of course [are] that we can't forget it's a game," he said. "We're just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but [with] the respect of each other. It's unacceptable."
The NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year was not alone in that view, as ESPN host Mike Greenberg expressed similar sentiments after Game 4.
"If you’re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and beating up people... threatening ... or doing anything to people who are wearing Spurs jerseys, just know that you are a disgrace. You're not disgracing this city, you're disgracing yourself and everyone who knows you," Greenberg, a New York native, said on Thursday's edition of "Get Up."
"And that should go without saying. We live in a world now where somehow things don't go without saying anymore," Greenberg continued. "You're a disgrace and everyone around you who knows you."

A watch party in New York City turned violent after the Spurs’ 115-111 victory in Game 3.
Multiple brawls broke out near the watch party in Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The New York Police Department told Fox News Digital that 21 people were arrested — 13 for disorderly conduct and eight for assaulting officers, criminal possession of weapons and menacing. The 13 arrested for disorderly conduct were released.
This year marks the Knicks’ first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999, when they ultimately lost to the San Antonio Spurs. New York has not won an NBA title since 1973.
The 2026 NBA Finals shift back to San Antonio on Saturday for Game 5. If necessary, Game 6 will return to New York on Tuesday.

White House fires back at Ariana Grande after she told them to never use her music in ICE deportation video
The White House hit back at Ariana Grande on Thursday after the "Wicked" actress slammed the Trump administration for using one of her songs in a social video depicting Immigration and Customs Inspection arrests.
"We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens," White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital.
The 32-year-old blasted the White House earlier this week for using her song "Bye" in a TikTok video, writing in the comments section: "please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. f-- ice."

The caption of the White House video said: "Bye-bye. President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history."

Last September, Grande shared an Instagram post that claimed "immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed."

She also attended the Women’s March shortly after President Donald Trump took office the first time in 2017 and vocally opposed his transgender bathroom ban on social media.
Last year, she also shared a protest sign that said: "Could someone explain which crimes get you deported and which ones get you elected President? It’s so confusing," referencing Trump being convicted of 34 felonies related to his falsifying business records in the Stormy Daniels "hush money" case.
She previously supported Kamala Harris for president and performed for former President Barack Obama at the White House in 2014.

In an Instagram reel posted on Thursday, the 37-year-old actress shared footage of her watching the Knicks game with other stars, including Keke Palmer and Penn Badgley, at Madison Square Garden, and how she celebrated after.

Prior to the breakup, Dobrev spoke about the proposal, telling Vogue in October 2024 that she was "in a panic" on the night White popped the question. The actress thought she was gearing up for a private CFDA/Vogue dinner with Anna Wintour at the Golden Swan in New York City, not knowing she was actually getting ready for her proposal.
"[Shaun] made the invite look so legitimate," Dobrev said. "I was in a panic that Anna’s waiting for me."
She went on to say that when she finally realized it was a proposal, she "went into shock" and "just froze and stared at him."

USA Today columnist says United States has already 'lost' the World Cup because of politics, Donald Trump
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is officially underway, with Canada, the United States, and Mexico jointly hosting the 48-team tournament.
As of Thursday afternoon, there's been just one match completed, with the Mexican National Team dominating South Africa in a 2-0 win at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. There are 103 matches left to be completed, and the World Cup will head to some spectacular venues across the country.
But if you ask left-wing sports media columnists, the outcome has already been decided. And the loser of the tournament is ... the United States. Of course.
USA Today columnist Nancy Armour this week published one of the more absurd takes on the World Cup and the country's success in hosting the tournament. Arguing that no matter how well the U.S. Men's National Team does in the event, we've revealed ourselves to be a "hateful and greedy nation."
"The U.S. men’s national team could make a historically deep run and the tournament could be filled with wondrous goals and compelling games," she writes. "It will not change the fact that we have shown ourselves to be a hateful and greedy nation, one where leaders are only willing to welcome a world as they want to see it rather than as it exists, and the love of the game is exploited for top dollar."
Instead of representing ourselves well, we've chosen to be "ugly Americans," she argues.
"That will be the legacy, and the shame, of this World Cup. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase the best of the United States and embrace the joy that soccer brings the rest of the world and, instead, we chose to be ugly Americans."
What makes Americans "ugly?" Well, Donald Trump, of course!
Armour claims that the treatment of the Iranian National Team "has been shameful," even though they are playing in the tournament, and defended the Somali referee Omar Artan who was denied entry to the country after being allegedly connected to terrorist groups. These are "dubious reasons," she says. The U.S. is "supposed to be a World Cup host, not a World Cup bouncer," she adds.
"We're working very closely to make sure the right people come into our country," President Trump said on Wednesday, which she angrily refers to. God forbid.
The other fatal flaw she brings up? Ticket prices. Except that the US government as a host country has quite literally nothing to do with ticket prices, which are set by FIFA. Many have lamented that the extremely high price points will exclude fans who can't afford to pay them. And that's a very reasonable and understandable complaint. But again, that's on FIFA, not the host country.

That's the issue with Armour's entire article. It's not based on facts, it's based on emotion and obvious hatred and disapproval for the country and its leadership. Would she have similar complaints if the Biden administration had kept someone with terrorist ties out of the country? Of course not. Though, obviously, the Biden administration would never have even pretended to care about the integrity of America's borders.
Not to mention that the previous tournament in 2022 was hosted by Qatar, where migrant workers were exploited during stadium construction. To her credit, Armour did criticize Qatar's government for their human rights record and other policies, but comparing the United States as hosts to Qatar is absurd at best, and offensively inaccurate at worst.
She approvingly quotes New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who as an open-borders extremist, naturally criticized the Trump administration. Which gives the game away. Regardless of the Iranian National Team and a ref with allegedly dangerous connections, Armour would have written something similar. Because she doesn't like Donald Trump.
The U.S. is going to be a fantastic World Cup host, to Armour's great chagrin. Just don't expect her to admit it afterward, that would require intellectual honesty.
Platner campaign rocked with damning allegations from another ex-lover as Senate race heats up: report
A day after Graham Platner became the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, a woman took to social media to allege that she briefly dated Platner in 2021, recounting stories of having met him on the Tinder dating app, his infidelity and how Platner’s story about his infamous Nazi tattoo had changed over time.
"I am stepping forward as a person who has experienced lying and manipulation by his hand to lend my voice to what is a growing number of women who have been wronged by this man in one way or another," a female streamer with the X handle, 420mercymain69, wrote in a long X statement on Thursday.
"It is hideous," the woman, who claimed she was attracted to Platner's Tinder profile because he was "hot and he was a leftist," said in her X statement.
The new details add another layer to Platner’s allegedly deceptive conduct towards romantic partners and grows the pile of scandals that have trailed his campaign.
Platner, who officially became the Democratic nominee to challenge incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, earlier this week, has grappled with his resurfaced past — receiving criticism for making off-color remarks on sexual abuse, race and terror and allegedly threatening behavior toward women.
According to 420mercymain69, a native of Maryland who considered herself a "well-informed leftist," the two of them started talking on Tinder in Feb. 2021 and started dating until mid-July 2021.
When approached about his Totenkopf tattoo, a symbol used by the Nazi SS, the author claims Platner said that he had gotten it in ignorance but that he had kept it as a reminder that the U.S. were "the bad guys" in many parts of the world.
"A sob story of monumental proportions that only further solidified my perception of his ideology," the author remembered.
"But surprisingly enough not the one he gave to the people of Maine," she continued. "And I do mean genuinely surprising because from the moment he announced his campaign, that is exactly what I expected to hear when the truth inevitably came out."

When the tattoo surfaced late last year, he had said he wasn’t familiar with its Nazi associations.
"Graham’s repeatedly said he picked a skull-and-crossbones tattoo off a wall in Croatia to commemorate surviving Ramadi and his friends who were killed there," a spokesperson from the Platner campaign told Fox News. "Graham has also since covered up the tattoo, and answered countless questions about it."
"Unlike Susan Collins, who refuses to take questions on her disastrous vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, gut rural hospitals, and supported every foreign war of the last thirty years," the spokesperson continued.
Aside from the tattoo, 420mercymain69 also accused Platner of several instances of relational infidelity.
Platner and the post’s author parted ways after she discovered from a mutual friend that he was allegedly seeing someone else while the two were still dating.
"He was talking about a woman he had blown it with, saying she was ‘the love of his life.’ I was naïve and probably a little too starry-eyed from my own good, but as a person who had only been on a handful of dates with him and f----- around a bit, I was smart enough to know he wasn’t talking about me," the woman claimed.
"I took the hint," she continued.
She claimed that, after leaving the relationship, she discovered Platner had been engaged to a woman named "Jen" when the two began conversing.
She was also told that Platner was allegedly cheating on her with a third woman.
"She had walked in on him having sex with another person at a wedding they were at in D.C. That mutual friend also advised that he was trying to repair things with this woman and asked me if I was going to seek her out to tell her," she said on X.
In summarizing her experience, which was reportedly confirmed by The New York Post, the author said she did not intend to derail Platner’s campaign, but that she shared concerns about his character. Fox News Digital could not independently confirm the claims from the alleged ex-girlfriend.
"There will be more information that comes out," she claimed.
"If I were a Maine voter seeing the things I’m seeing, I wouldn’t have voted for him, personal experience notwithstanding, because I do not trust him. Why, after all that has come out, would I?"
"People that I have admired are brushing this off, discounting women's experiences, attacking other journalists,or allowing people in their comment sections to do so. Especially with regard to domestic violence. It is hideous," she concluded.

The Lines did a survey of 3,000 U.S. soccer fans to determine which fan base, team, USMNT player, and manager were most attractive and which home kit is considered the best-looking.

That's right. If you're looking for the best-looking soccer fans, you're going to need to head down south of the border... and then south of a few more borders to Argentina.

Brazil came in second, with the U.S. coming home in third (which is good, because we're all attractive as hell).
Mexico came home in fourth — capping off a very strong showing from soccer-mad Latin America — while France finished fifth, marking Europe's highest-finishing fan base, with Knoll's Croatia right behind in sixth.
A lot of times when you see surveys like this, it feels like they're designed to make you go, "What?!?!" and start click-clacking your dismay on social media.
But this one? Nah, I could see all of it. It tracked. I mean, you could debate the order, but it's not like when The New York Times comes out and goes, "No, seriously, guys; we sincerely do not believe Billy Joel is one of the 30 greatest living American songwriters," as rage-bait.
As for most attractive team, that honor went to Brazil, while Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni was deemed the biggest head-turner among bench bosses.
Tim Allen says he 'never really wanted' to be a dad and opens up about sobriety and fatherhood regrets
Tim Allen is getting real about his initial thoughts on fatherhood, the regrets he carries today and how his 30-year sobriety plays a role.
During an interview with US Weekly, Allen opened up about how he "never really wanted" to be a father and how his fatherhood journey has been a "work in progress."
"I never really wanted to be a dad. I joke about it on stage; I’ve just never been a real fan of children. As people have said many times about parenting, you go through all this [stuff] to get a driver’s license or a passport, but there’s nothing about [raising] children," he began. "It was a work in progress."
Allen has two children, both daughters: Katherine Allen and Elizabeth Allen-Dick. Allen shares Katherine with his first wife, Laura Deibel. Allen and his current wife, Jane Hajduk, share Elizabeth.
During the interview, Allen said that Jane wished they had five children "because you learn on the first two."
"With Kate, I was gone a lot, so her mom did most of the raising. I come from [a family of] seven boys and two girls, and it’s a very different world to me with girls. I have a different view of what will make a strong woman.
"The girl stuff I have little interest in — clothing, looks, gossip, and all that — [I focused on] learning finances, learning how to take care of yourself, and that works for boys and girls," Allen said.
Throughout the years, Allen shared that he's seen the depth of a father-daughter bond. "We communicate on a different level. I didn’t realize how much I got through to my older one [but] now and then she’ll say, ‘You used to say this all the time,’ and I go, ‘You actually listened,'" he said.
Allen has been outspoken in the past about his sobriety and during his interview with US Weekly, he explained that he wasn't sober during some of his oldest daughter's formative years.

With "Toy Story 5" gearing up for release on June 19, Allen took a trip down memory lane and recalled getting started on the wrong foot during his early years.

"I’d lost focus after college, where I got into criminal stuff," he said, referencing the two years he spent in prison.
"When I was incarcerated, I started reading books [about] men and women who had been successful out of nowhere, and I started focusing on where I wanted to be," the actor continued. "I did not want to do that ever again. I humiliated my family and friends and myself. I did not want to make that mistake [again]."
