Bible supports capital punishment for Charlie Kirk’s killer, says Frank Turek
Dr. Frank Turek defended the death penalty, saying it is supported by Christian faith.
The Christian author and speaker told Fox News Digital about why he supports the death penalty when there is "no doubt" that the man charged with Charlie Kirk's assassination is indeed guilty.
"Obviously, we have to do this advisedly. We have to make sure beyond any reasonable doubt that the person is indeed guilty," Turek said.
Turek pointed to Bible passages he believes support the death penalty.

"In Romans 13, it says that the leader does not bear the sword for nothing, meaning the governor or the king doesn't bear the sword for anything," said Turek. "That's a reference to capital punishment. Also, when Jesus was before Pilate, Pilate said to Jesus, 'Don't you know I have the authority to kill you?' And Jesus said, ‘Yes, you do, but you get that authority from above.’"
Turek explained, "In other words, the government has the right to inflict capital punishment for capital crimes."
He said one cannot "turn the other cheek" in cases of severe crimes such as murder, adding that this command has been misunderstood.
"People will say, ‘What about turn the other cheek?’ This is where people don't seem to understand. There are different commands for individuals and different commands. If governments were to always turn the other cheek, we would have anarchy, nobody would be secure, people would be murdered, people would be raped, people would have their livelihoods stolen from them."

Turek said, "The Creator grants rights and the government is supposed to secure these rights from a biblical perspective."
"James Madison famously said, ‘If men were angels, no government would be necessary.’ Would we need a government if everybody was angelic? No, there'd be no need for a government. The reason we have a government is to protect the innocent people from evil, to protect rights, to secure rights," Turek said. "When a government doesn't do that, it's an illegitimate government."
Turek said the original founding of America shows that rights come from God, not government.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

"Governments don't give you your rights," Turek said. "Governments are just supposed to secure your rights."
Robinson faces a top charge of aggravated murder, which carries a potential death sentence.
Dr. Turek and comedian Rob Schneider are scheduled to speak at the upcoming Turning Point USA "This Is The Turning Point" tour stop at UC Berkeley.

‘Genocide can’t be ignored’: GOP lawmaker backs Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria
Republican Rep. Riley Moore said the United States could take a range of actions — including sanctions and "even kinetic military action" — in response to what he called the "genocide" of Christians in Nigeria.
Trump designated Moore, a member of the Appropriations Committee from West Virginia, along with Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., to lead an investigation into the killing of Christians by Islamist militants in the African nation.
Frustrations with the matter boiled out into the open when Trump this week designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern and ordered the Pentagon to prepare to intervene militarily.
In a video on Truth Social this week, Trump threatened to "do things to Nigeria that Nigeria is not going to be happy about" and "go into that now-disgraced country guns-a-blazing."

Moore told Fox News Digital the designation unlocks "15 different levers" the administration can use against Nigeria, including halting arms sales, freezing aid and sanctioning officials or institutions accused of ignoring or enabling religious killings.
"All options are on the table here for this, even kinetic military action," Moore said. "That could mean targeted, strategic counterterrorism strikes to get rid of some of the top leadership if that’s what it takes to stop the killing."
"We've been providing security assistance to this country since at least 2009 – billions of dollars worth of arm sales, training and equipment that they've received. And it's a question of prioritization in what's important to them. And clearly this has not been one of the most important things."
The West Virginia Republican said he has been working with the House Appropriations Committee and the State Department to identify what he called "legislative levers" that could support the administration’s response. Moore said he’s also consulting with NGOs and Christian organizations "on the ground" in Nigeria to document the scale of the violence.

He described the attacks as a "genocide," claiming Christians are being killed at a rate of five to one compared with non-Christians. Moore accused Nigeria’s government of "looking the other way" despite receiving billions in U.S. security aid since 2009.
"They’re not taking this seriously," he said. "We had a pastor warn the government about an impending attack — they called it fake news. Within 24 hours, that pastor and 20 of his congregants were murdered."
The Nigerian government denies a genocide is taking place. "Portraying Nigeria’s security challenges as a targeted campaign against a single religious group is a gross misrepresentation of reality. Terrorists attack all who reject their murderous ideology — Muslims, Christians, and those of no faith alike," the office of the presidency wrote on X.
Moore said he and House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., plan to meet with Nigerian officials in Washington this month as part of the investigation, and may even send delegations to the nation. He added that the U.S. could still work with Nigeria’s government if it shows a willingness to confront extremist groups.

"It’s not all sticks here — there are some carrots in this," Moore said. "If they’re willing to work with us, this could actually lead to a stronger relationship between our countries."
The Nigerian government has denied that the killings amount to religious persecution, arguing that extremist and criminal groups target civilians of all faiths.
With a population of more than 230 million, Nigeria’s vibrant and often turbulent cities and villages are home to people of strikingly diverse backgrounds. The country’s more than 500 languages and mix of Islam, Christianity, and traditional indigenous faiths have long been marred by tension.

Nigeria’s faith communities remain sharply divided, with Muslims dominating the northern regions and Christians concentrated in the south.
Christianity took firm root in the 19th century, when freed slaves educated in Sierra Leone returned home as teachers and missionaries — establishing schools, churches, and early congregations that continue to shape southern Nigeria’s identity today.
Despite vast oil and mineral wealth, decades of corruption and mismanagement have left much of the nation impoverished.
Nigeria’s growing cache of lithium, cobalt, nickel, and other rare minerals has drawn quiet U.S. attention as Washington looks to counter China’s dominance in Africa’s critical-minerals market. The Commerce Department and U.S. International Development Finance Corp. have eyed investment opportunities in Nigeria’s nascent lithium industry, but persistent insecurity in mining regions threatens Western access and future development.
For over a decade, Nigeria’s Christians fleeing the nation’s northern half have been subject to the violence of Boko Haram, an Islamist militant group known for its terrorist spectacles. Churches and homes burned, communities vanishing in the group’s night raids.
Numbers are difficult to verify, but the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law reports at least 52,000 Christians have been killed, some 18,500 abducted and unlikely to have survived, and 20,000 churches and Christian schools attacked between 2009 and 2023.
In 2014, Boko Haram famously kidnapped and enslaved 276 teenage girls in a raid on a high school dormitory. The group regularly arms children as suicide bombers and holds slave markets in captured territories.
But a direct U.S. military campaign would prove difficult with current U.S. assets in the nation and is unlikely, one defense official told Fox News Digital.
The United States currently has no permanent military base in Nigeria, though small teams of U.S. advisors and special operations trainers work periodically with Nigerian forces under AFRICOM programs.
Washington approved about $600 million in security aid to Nigeria over the past decade, mostly focused on counterterrorism in the northeast.

Indiana cleaning lady fatally shot after showing up at wrong home: police
A cleaning lady was shot and killed by an Indiana homeowner when she arrived at the wrong address for a house-cleaning appointment, according to officials.
Maria Florinda Rios Perez, 32, was found dead in her husband's arms on the front porch of a home in Whitestown, Indiana, after the pair mistakenly showed up at the wrong address for a cleaning on Wednesday.
Whitestown police responded to the home for a possible home invasion before later concluding that "the facts gathered do not support that a residential entry occurred."
"It was later determined that the individuals attempting to enter the home were members of a cleaning crew who had mistakenly arrived at the wrong address," police said on Facebook.

"The loss of life is always a profound tragedy, and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected," the department added.
Police submitted the case to the Boone County Prosecutor's Office for review to determine whether criminal charges will be brought against the homeowner. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
"We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to her family and loved ones during this difficult time," police wrote on Friday.
Police have not yet released the identity of the homeowner who shot the woman, saying this "is a complex, delicate, and evolving case, and it would be both inappropriate and potentially dangerous to disclose that information."
According to reports, the woman was a mother of four and originally from Guatemala.
"Maria was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring sister, and a cherished daughter," her obituary reads. "She was known for her beautiful spirit, her kindness toward others, and the love she poured into her family every single day."
The woman's husband, Mauricio Velásquez, said he wanted justice for his wife.
Velásquez told WTTV that the bullet was fired through the door of the home.
"They should've called the police first instead of just shooting out of nowhere like that," he said.
"Seeing my wife in my arms, already lifeless, covered in blood, I felt like they tore everything from me," Velásquez told Telemundo at a memorial for his wife.
Boone County prosecutor Kent Eastwood told The Indianapolis Star that the case is complex because of language in the state's stand-your-ground law.
'Teacher of the Year' in South Carolina charged after allegedly trying to hit her baby's father with car
A woman who won a "Teacher of the Year" award in South Carolina is facing charges after allegedly attempting to run over her baby’s father in a Walmart parking lot.
Sade Delesia Nacheyle Nelson, the 2025 "Teacher of the Year" at St. John’s High School in Charleston, South Carolina, is accused of assaulting the father of her child and his girlfriend during a custody exchange on Oct, 18, Summerville police said, according to Live5News.
Nelson, 37, allegedly punched the man and his girlfriend before attempting to hit him with her car.

He laughed and added, "That, my friends, is what the Marine Corps does — it keeps us honest."
Throughout his remarks, Vance paid tribute to Marines of every generation, "from the young to the old, from the lance corporals born in 2006 to the veterans of Iwo Jima."
He told the audience he was "proud" of each Marine and vowed, "We’re going to keep on winning America’s wars for the next 250 years."
Vance also promised in a moment of resolve that America’s leaders would never again send troops into harm’s way without clarity of mission and support for those in the field.
"When we send you off to fight our nation’s battles, we will do it with full confidence," he said. "We will give you the knowledge and the tools you need to win, and we will make it clear that your job is to kick the enemy’s a-- and come home safely."
Vance celebrated the Corps’ relevance in the age of advanced technology. "Let’s be honest," he said, "the battlefield has changed in an incredible and profound way… but I happen to believe that the most important war-fighting technology is not artificial intelligence or anything on a computer. The most important war-fighting technology is a well-trained and well-armed United States Marine."
As the crowd rose for a final toast, Vance took a moment of reflection. "The Marine Corps has done a lot for me," he said. "It’s done more for me than I can possibly repay."
Then, raising his glass, he closed: "I will fight every single day to make sure that the next 250 years are just as damn proud as the first 250. Happy Birthday, Marines."

Four dead, at least 13 injured after speeding car crashes into crowd outside Florida bar
A 22-year-old driver fleeing police allegedly plowed into a packed Florida patio bar early Saturday, killing four people and injuring at least 13 others in what Tampa's police chief called a "senseless" tragedy.
Silas Kenneth Sampson, 22, is charged with four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing to elude serious bodily injury or death, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) records.
He is being held at the Falkenburg Road Jail without bond.
Tampa Police Department (TPD) Chief Lee Bercaw said at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were monitoring a car street racing and driving recklessly on Interstate 275.
The driver, later identified as Sampson, continued to drive recklessly at high speed and exited the interstate and headed into downtown Ybor City.
At about 12:45 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) found Sampson, initiated a pursuit, and attempted an unsuccessful PIT maneuver.
FHP disengaged as Sampson continued speeding toward 7th Avenue, later losing control of the car and crashing into a local gay bar, Bradley's On 7th, Bercaw said.
Sampson allegedly struck more than a dozen adults who were on an outdoor patio, killing three victims at the scene.
A fourth victim died at the hospital, while two victims remain in critical condition, according to authorities. Seven other victims are in stable condition, two were admitted and discharged, and two were treated on scene.

Officials said that, as of Saturday, there is no evidence to indicate the victims or business were targeted by the alleged suspect.

Witness Howard Hopkins told affiliate FOX 13 Tampa Bay he saw the car jump the curb, hit the corner of the building, and plow through the crowd on the business' patio.

"Tables went everywhere, chairs went everywhere, bodies went everywhere — it was pretty bad," Hopkins told the outlet.
Bradley Nelson, owner of Bradley's on 7th, released a statement on Facebook Saturday night, describing the incident as "horrific."
"This event has been very traumatic for my entire staff, and myself," Nelson wrote. "Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of those who were killed, and to all the injured. Bradley’s on 7th is known for being a very tight-knit family of employees and customers. Our customers are very loyal and have made Bradley’s on 7th what it is today. They are truly part of our family. We ask you to remember all those killed and injured in your prayers, as we do the same."

He also thanked first responders who rushed to the scene to help.
"I cannot say enough about the expert job done by the Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff Office and the Florida Highway Patrol and all the involved EMS teams," Nelson said. "The speed in which this event was handled, should be noted by all."
Nelson said out of respect for the victims, and the mental trauma staff experienced, Bradley’s on 7th will remain closed until Monday.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor also weighed in on social media, noting the entire city was shaken by the tragedy.
"What happened in Ybor City last night was devastating," Castor wrote in an X post. "Families are grieving, first responders are hurting, and our entire city feels this loss. My thoughts are with everyone affected. The investigation continues, and our commitment to keeping our community safe has never been stronger."
The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

The NFL is asking all teams to hold a moment of silence on Sunday for Dallas Cowboys rookie Marshawn Kneeland, who died this past week, ESPN reported.
The league reportedly sent a memo to all teams on Friday requesting the moment of silence, which will be followed by a message on jumbotrons that will read: "If you or someone you know is struggling or needs emotional support, please call or text 988. The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24-7 to help."

Kneeland died early Thursday morning, just days after recording his first NFL touchdown on Monday night.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Frisco Police Department later released statements confirming that Kneeland had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police chase in Texas.

Kneeland’s agent Jonathan Perzley paid tribute to the young NFL player in a lengthy statement, remembering him for his "spirit" and "goodness."
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words."
According to officials, DPS troopers attempted to make a traffic stop around 10:33 p.m. when the driver, later identified as Kneeland, refused to stop. Authorities engaged in a pursuit but eventually lost sight of Kneeland’s vehicle, ending the chase.

His car was later found abandoned, and authorities found Kneeland dead nearby.
Frisco police, who assisted in the DPS pursuit, released a statement saying that the abandoned vehicle was found by troopers "minutes later" and that Kneeland was believed to have fled on foot.
Police said that during their search, they learned that "Kneeland had expressed suicidal ideations."
Kneeland was in his second season with the Cowboys after being selected 56th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. His death came just days after he recorded his first NFL touchdown in a game against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

Three landscape supply employees gunned down in Texas shooting, police say
Three employees of a landscape supply business in Texas were fatally shot Saturday morning, authorities said.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus told reporters that investigators "don’t know the motive right now, but it was not random."
The business was located on Stahl Road in San Antonio.
"There may be others wounded, but we're not sure," McManus said at the time.
McManus later confirmed on social media that the suspect was found "down" with a "self-inflicted" wound following a manhunt. It wasn't clear if the suspect was dead.
Neither the suspect nor the victims have been identified. The victims were two men and one woman, McManus said.

Following the shooting, SWAT and negotiators with the San Antonio Police Department were at the scene along with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
