‘Soft guy era’ trend raises the question on what happened to 'masculinity'
Fox News’ Anita Vogel discusses the ‘soft guy era’, the latest TikTok craze that advises men to stop being sole providers in relationships alongside co-hosts on ‘The Big Weekend Show.’
"You should hear these TikTokers out there. [One] says that women should be paying for all the dates," Vogel said. "What's going on with masculinity? Why is it out the window?"
"It just seems like men do not want to play the role of being elusive anymore or being hard to get. They text way too much. They're far too needy. They live far too long with their parents, particularly with mom, and that's a problem when you're a woman and you want a real man," Fox News contributor Joe Concha said. Lil Goodie is one of the self-proclaimed co-founders of the ‘soft guy era’ movement.
"Literally, being in my soft guy era, it literally opens my eyes to reality. Women want to be in long-term relationships. So this is what you're going to have to do. You're going to have to pay for all the dates," he said in a TikTok video.
"We all know being a provider in 2024 is a scam. So we don’t care, we’re not doing that anymore. We know that’s old-fashioned, these women got money, these women are working, so they need to contribute," Scarfacemark, the other co-founder of the movement said.

"Here's the thing. So I have, I work full time, we all know that. The thing about being financially independent as a woman in a marriage, it's a beautiful thing. I don't need my husband financially. "We are together because we want to be together, and we work on our marriage because we actually just want to be together and raise our children together. That's a beautiful thing."

Historians uncover 18th-century bottles with mysterious liquid at George Washington's Mt. Vernon
Archaeologists recently discovered two glass bottles filled with a mysterious liquid at George Washington's Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.
The archaeologist who found the bottles, Nick Beard, told FOX 5 DC that he was digging in the mansion's cellar as part of a revitalization project.
Beard found the top of a bottle, and then the whole bottle, before noticing a second bottle. Astoundingly, the bottles contained a liquid that had miraculously survived the past three centuries.
"Just the fact that there was liquid at all. That, right there, sets off alarm bells," Beard said. "If there’s water, or liquid, pooling in there like that, that means it’s very intact, it’s in very good shape."

Experts believe that the bottles were originally filled with cherries. The glass bottles were placed in the ground between 1758 and 1776 to refrigerate food.
"For whatever reason, these were left behind and they were in pristine condition, and that’s why this is such an extraordinary find because you just don’t find 18th-century food remains, intact, outside of things like animal bones, which are pretty durable," Mount Vernon principal archaeologist Jason Boroughs told FOX 5.

Placing the produce in a bottle underground was the most effective way of preserving it from the intense Virginia heat.
"One of the best ways to store these types of fruits and vegetables was underground," Boroughs added. "So sometime after 1758, but before 1776, someone dug a pit… sort of a rectangular, about a foot deep, hole through one of the floors in the cellar, these bottles were set in, and then it was filled with a dense clay."

The orange liquid was poured out of the bottles and transferred into new containers to be examined. Historians believe that the discovery will not only shed light on how food was preserved at Mount Vernon, but may also reveal new details about slavery on the plantation.
"It’s astounding for us," curator Lily Carhart told FOX 5. "It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime sort of things."
Fox News Digital reached out to Mount Vernon for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Former Arizona state Dem lawmaker gets a year in prison for sexual misconduct with a minor
A former Arizona state lawmaker was sentenced to a year in prison on Friday after being found guilty in February of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to reports.
KTVK in Phoenix reported that Otoniel "Tony" Navarrete was sentenced by a Maricopa County Superior Court judge to one year in prison and 10 years of supervised release for his crime.
Navarrete is also required to register as a sex offender.
The publication also reported that Navarrete’s attorney plans to file an appeal.

On February 29, a Maricopa County jury delivered a split verdict for the ex-Arizona state senator who had previously stepped down from his role over allegations of sexual misconduct.
FOX 10 in Phoenix reported that the jury delivered the split verdict in a video provided by officials with the courts, finding Navarrete guilty of one count of sexual misconduct with a child.
Navarrete also faced a single charge of child molestation, as well as having sexual conduct with a minor, both of which he was found not guilty.
ARIZONA HOUSE LAWMAKERS PASS BILL TO REPEAL 1864 ABORTION BAN
There was a fourth charge of attempting to commit molestation of a child, which was dismissed by a motion filed by prosecutors on Feb. 22.
The first-term Democrat from Phoenix was arrested in August 2021 after allegations surfaced that he had sexual misconduct with a minor in 2019.
ARIZONA SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS NEAR-TOTAL ABORTION BAN
The station reported that the allegations involved a boy he was living with over a period of several years, who accused Navarrete of touching him inappropriately when he was 12 or 13.
The sexual misconduct reportedly continued until the boy was 15.
Navarrete resigned from his post because of the allegations and was replaced by then-State Rep. Raquel Terán.

Navarrete, 35, was elected as the state representative for Arizona's 30th District in 2016. He served one term before being elected to the state Senate in 2018.
Country star Jimmie Allen says twins were conceived with a 'friend' while separated from his wife
Jimmie Allen cleared up confusion surrounding the birth of his twins last year.
The country star admitted he wasn't "together" with his estranged wife Lexi when his longtime friend Danielle became pregnant with their fraternal twins, daughter Aria and son Amari.
"I’ve known Danielle for years," Allen told Kathie Lee Gifford in an emotional interview shared on his YouTube channel. "Way before I became 'Jimmie Allen.' And at the time that she got pregnant with the twins, I wasn’t with Lexi, and [Danielle] wasn’t with her husband."

Allen is also father to son Aadyn, nine, from a previous relationship.
He said that when the news of his twins' birth was announced, the truth soon turned into lies.
"I decided to post my twins on my Instagram, and it went everywhere," he said. "These articles come out, ‘Jimmie Allen Gets Married Superfan Pregnant.’ That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
"She’s not a superfan. She’s a friend. And she wasn’t with her husband and I wasn’t with my wife."

Allen added, "I am healing and growing for me and my children."
The country singer also recalled contemplating suicide after being accused of sexual assault by multiple women.
In May 2023, Allen's former manager accused him of alleged sexual abuse while they worked together. She has since dropped the suit against Allen. At the time, Allen apologized to his wife for "humiliating her."
Shortly after the lawsuit came to light, two additional women filed sexual abuse lawsuits, to which Allen filed counterclaims stating the encounters were consensual. He told Gifford that the damage was still done.
"It hit me. My life insurance covers suicide," he said. "I don't feel that way now, but in that moment, when you feel like you have nothing in the midst of a society where it's no longer innocent until proven guilty, you know you're guilty. She said this, so it must be true."
He's still battling depression and suicidal thoughts, but professional help has brought Allen into a different focus.
"After a few months, I started to look at the situation different," he said. "It went from, 'God, why is this happening to me?' to 'God, what am I supposed to learn?'"

EU requires cars come with tech that slows cars when speeding, UK opts out
All new cars and trucks sold within the European Union and Northern Ireland after July 6, 2024, will be mandated to have safety technology activated to let drivers know they are speeding by beeping, vibrating or even slowing the vehicle down, to prevent car crashes.
The United Kingdom has chosen not to require intelligent speed assistance (ISA) to be used on its roads, though the safety feature will still be installed on vehicles and drivers will have the option to activate the technology each day.
ISA technology uses a camera on the front of the vehicle that can read speed limit signs. The information from the signs, along with GPS mapping data in the vehicle’s software, help the car with knowing which speed limit is in place where the vehicle is traveling.
Once the driver breaks the speed limit, ISA will either beep or vibrate the speed limit to let the driver know they are speeding.

If the driver does not slow down, the technology will then take over and reduce the speed of the vehicle to the posted speed limit.
The Telegraph reported that Ford and other manufacturers have been offering ISA as an option since 2015, and since 2022, all new cars in Europe have required ISA to be installed.
The European Transport Safety Council estimates that ISA will reduce collisions by 30% and deaths by 20%.

According to the safety council’s website, the technology will also help drivers avoid speeding tickets.
Leeds University said in a study that the U.K. could see a 12% decline in injuries caused by vehicle crashes, with ISA in place.
The European Union moved to require vehicles to have ISA technology in 2018.
It estimated at the time that every year, 25,000 people died on the roads, adding it was up to the EU to take action to reduce the number of deaths.
Two people killed in Texas after 350,000 pound load detaches from trailer, crushes vehicle: officials
Authorities in Texas are investigating an incident that left two people dead and another seriously injured on Saturday after an oversized piece of equipment came off a trailer and landed on top of a vehicle, trapping them inside.
According to Temple Fire and Rescue, just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, first responders were dispatched to a report of a collision on State Highway 36, just west of Highway 317.
Upon arrival, crews said they found an oversized load had come off of its trailer, pinning a vehicle beneath.
Officials estimated the equipment being hauled by the transport fleet was approximately 350,000 pounds. Authorities did not specify what the giant piece of was.

Extrication took just over four hours to safely remove the driver from the vehicle, officials said.

Temple Fire and Rescue added that ten units and 25 personnel responded to the collision to assist.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday asked for the public’s help in designing a new $1 coin to honor the state's innovations, but many of the responses pointed to anything but positive accomplishments for which the state was once proudly known.
When people outside California think of innovation, they think of things like Silicon Valley and the tech boom as well as leading the way in wildlife conservation.
But lately, businesses have been fleeing the blue state because of its failure to address crime, homelessness and the escalating cost of living.

Newsom and the state legislature have been harshly criticized over his failure to address the state’s $73 billion budget deficit, with some pointing to overspending as the problem.
Others say they are frustrated with the governor for things like pointing his attention toward a national pro-abortion campaign instead of issues directly affecting his own state – things like an insurance crisis, affordability crisis, rising crime, wildfire risks and skyrocketing electric costs.
Continuing with his apparent failure to focus on the problems affecting his state, Newsom took time on Thursday to get input from his constituents regarding a state coin.

"Calling all members of the Tortured Coin Designers Department," Newsom wrote on social media. "CA is getting its own $1 coin to honor innovation, slated to be issued in 2026 – and we need your help! The constituents did not hold back on providing the governor with ideas that they thought seemed fitting for the state’s new $1 coin.
Jim Stanley, the press secretary for the State Assembly Republicans, sent his ideas to Newsom with a letter shared by the California Globe, highlighting the governor’s accomplishments while in office.

"Under your bold leadership, California has developed a truly unrivaled method of incinerating money," Stanley wrote in the letter. "While most people would think it impossible to spend $24 billion on homelessness only to see the problem grow rapidly, you have proved the naysayers wrong."
Stanley then provided his suggestions, which depicted homeless encampments and fire.
"I think these capture things nicely," Stanley wrote on X.

One user superimposed Harvey Weinstein’s picture into the coin template provided by Newsom, saying, "When people think of California they think of Hollywood. This would be great. (Hope it doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth)."
Another user pointed to many of the problems California is faced with, telling the governor, "A coin contest seems totally out of touch and ridiculous." The same user suggested Newsom contact Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for how to run a successful state.
More suggestions for putting a homeless encampment on the coin were suggested on X, while another suggestion included a coin with the state of California, electric batteries and a mask symbolizing the governor’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the bottom of the coin, it reads, "In Newsom we trust."
Other users suggested placing illegal immigrants on the coin, high gas prices or someone using drugs.
Newsom’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on his request for coin ideas.

Florida woman stabs man in wild Wawa rampage, before threatening employees and smashing computers: police
A Florida woman went on a wild rampage at a Wawa location and allegedly stabbed a man with a large knife before committing other crimes, police said.
Christina Marie Crane, 37, was charged with attempted felony murder, criminal mischief and aggravated assault, according to FOX 13 Tampa. She was also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The Pinellas Park Police Department told FOX 13 that the incident took place at a Wawa on Gandy Boulevard at around 10 p.m. Friday night.
Authorities believe that the suspect was under the influence at the time and in a state of "excited delirium" when she entered the store.
Crane allegedly took a fixed blade knife from the deli and stabbed a man with it, causing him to bleed. He suffered a minor abrasion in his left hand.
After leaving the Wawa, authorities said the suspect went inside an office and raised the knife over a female employee's head. She reportedly told the office worker, "I will kill you."
Crane is also accused of swinging the knife that nearly struck another female office worker. She also reportedly smashed computer monitors in the office, causing what amounted to over $1,000 worth of property damage.
Fox News Digital reached out to Pinellas Park Police Department for more information about the case, but no new details were available.
Joel Embiid 'disappointed' with Knicks fans taking over 76ers arena
As Jalen Brunson stood at the free throw line at the end of the New York Knicks’ Game 4 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, a roar of "MVP" chants filled Wells Fargo Center.
A large contingent of Knicks fans traveled about two hours south of Madison Square Garden to support their New York team, and they were rewarded with a 47-point performance from Brunson as the series returns to the Big Apple 3-1 in the Knicks’ favor.
And some of those fans leaving Wells Fargo Center stood in the lobby and were heard chanting, "F--- Embiid," referencing the 76ers’ reigning MVP, Joel Embiid.

Speaking with reporters after the loss, Embiid was not happy with the Knicks’ presence in the building.
"Disappointing. I love our fans," Embiid said, per SNY. "Think it’s unfortunate, and I’m not calling them out, but it is disappointing. Obviously, you got a lot of Knicks fans, and they’re down the road, and I’ve never seen it, and I’ve been here for 10 years."
"Yeah, it kind of pi---s me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town. They’ve always shown up, and I don’t think that should happen. Yeah. It’s not OK."

It wasn’t just when Brunson took his final free throws of the game that Knicks fans started getting rowdy in enemy territory. All game long, Knicks fans were heard shouting, chanting and urging their team on as they tried to match the home Sixers fans.

Embiid, who finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds, shot 7 of 19 from the field, though he was 12 of 14 from the charity stripe. He had his home fans screaming in the first quarter when he dropped 10 of the team’s 27 points to take an early lead against the Knicks.
However, the Knicks battled back, and Brunson was the one leading the way. OG Anunoby had 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Miles "Deuce" McBride dropped 13 points off the bench.
New York was able to win one on the road as it heads back to MSG, where their fan presence will be even louder in hopes the Knicks can end the series on Tuesday night.

LeBron James explodes on Darvin Ham during Lakers' Game 4 victory over Nuggets
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James appeared to explode on head coach Darvin Ham during the team’s 119-108 victory in Game 4 to avoid the sweep against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
The Lakers were up 15 points early in the fourth quarter. The ball went to Nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. James knocked the ball away from him, and it went out of bounds. James insisted the ball didn’t go out of bounds off of him.

He appeared to yell at Ham to challenge the play, but none was called. James was furious on the sideline as the Nuggets inbounded the ball.
Cooler heads seemed to prevail and Los Angeles pulled off the win. James led Los Angeles with 30 points, five rebounds and four assists. Anthony Davis added 25 points and 23 rebounds.
"We've given ourselves another lifeline, and it's a one-game series for us. Monday's game is the most important game of the season for us, and we understand that," James said.

"Of course we want to [start faster], but I learned in horse racing, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish," Jokic said. "We didn’t finish today really well, so hopefully we can do a better job. But yes, we want to be up and control the game, but it seems like that didn’t happen to us."
Game 5 is set for Monday.
