Mike Santana retains TNA World Championship, appears set for Slammiversary match vs Nic Nemeth
Mike Santana has been on the top of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) for quite some time but he faced one of his toughest challengers yet in pro wrestling veteran Eric Young on "Impact."
Young earned a guaranteed title shot with a battle royal win a few weeks ago. He made a statement against Santana last week when he hit the TNA world champion with a piledriver. Young was on a tear against the champion but continuous two counts nearly forced his hand against the referee.
But taking his eye off the prize ultimately hurt Young. Santana nailed a huge double underhook toss from the top rope against Young. A Santana bulldog and rolling cutter put him back in full control. Though, he couldn’t get Young to stay down either. The referee did get caught in the middle of the match, as Young hit him inadvertently.

Santana hit Spin the Block but the referee was down. He tried to get the referee back up as quickly as possible. He picked up Young back to a vertical base and Young kicked him in the groin. Young nailed Santana with the TNA World Championship and then nailed a piledriver.
As the referee was counting, Santana somehow got his hand on the rope to break the count. Young was about to finish off Santana when Ricky Sosa appeared and distracted Young long enough for Santana to roll up Young.
Santana retained the TNA World Championship.
Nic Nemeth’s music hit and it looked like he was going to call his shot and get a title match on "Impact." Nemeth grabbed the mic and said he could call his shot and win the title, but he wanted to wait until Slammiversary.
Santana and Nemeth shook hands, signaling the match was on. The two later worked together to take out Order Four after Mustafa Ali’s match against KC Navarro for the TNA International Championship.
Nemeth then hit Santana with a Danger Zone. Santana was right not to trust Nemeth ahead of their match at Slammiversary.

It was a few weeks ago that The System took out TNA veteran Moose in the back. After the TNA broadcast reported that Moose was cleared to return, he came out of the back as The System dished out punishment to Leon Slater.
Cedric Alexander just pinned Slater in a tag team match with Eddie Edwards. Brian Myers and Bear Bronson got into the ring and put the beatdown on Slater. That’s when Moose’s music hit. He came to the ring and sent The System scurrying.
Moose said he will take on Edwards in a match at Slammiversary.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani urges Knicks fans to 'be responsible' ahead of pivotal NBA Finals Game 5
The NBA Finals resume Saturday night, with the series returning to San Antonio for a pivotal Game 5 after a two-day break.
With the Knicks on the verge of securing the franchise's first championship in over five decades, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani took to social media to deliver a message about fan behavior.
"NEW YORK: Tonight, Knicks fans across our city will come together at Plaza 33 outside MSG, Radio City Music Hall, and Wollman Rink to watch Game 5 of the NBA Finals. My administration is proud to work with the Knicks to support these watch parties," he wrote on X.

The 34-year-old followed with a call for safety, accountability and respect.
"As we celebrate, be responsible, look out for one another, stay safe, be smart, and make this a night that reflects the very best of our city. Let's go Knicks."
Mamdani also recently announced that 10 LinkNYC kiosks across New York City will stream Saturday night’s Knicks-Spurs game.
KNICKS MIRACULOUSLY OVERCOME 29-POINT DEFICIT TO TAKE COMMANDING 3-1 LEAD IN NBA FINALS OVER SPURS
"The Knicks belong to all New Yorkers, whether you’re watching from the Garden or not," Mamdani said in a statement. "Earlier this week, New Yorkers gathered around LinkNYC kiosks to watch one of the greatest comebacks in basketball history. This weekend, we’re running it back. More than a hundred kiosks will turn our sidewalks into watch parties and our streets into celebrations. Knicks in Five."
The mayor’s social media message follows multiple incidents involving Knicks fans harassing Spurs supporters, some of which escalated into physical violence.
Shortly after the Knicks' 105-104 win over the Spurs in Game 2, 17 people were arrested at a watch party near Madison Square Garden, ABC7 reported. One person was taken into custody on allegations of striking and injuring a police officer. Authorities noted that a fan entered a restricted area, refused to leave and then punched an officer.
Police said fans in the area became "increasingly disorderly" as the game progressed, according to ABC7.
In another encounter, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was met with hostility as eggs were thrown in the direction of the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year. As of Thursday, "the New York Police Department has not made any arrests," ESPN reported at the time.
Game 5 tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Frost Bank Center, with the Knicks holding a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.

The Knicks went on to lose the game, but the night was remembered less for the action on the court and more for the viral back-and-forth between President Donald Trump and ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith after Smith criticized Trump's presence at the game and the president responded.
The Knicks bounced back the next night, however, to take a 3-1 lead, and are now in position to close out the series with a win against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night.
CBP, Coast Guard intercept migrant vessel heading for Puerto Rico; 40 apprehended including Uzbek national
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) special agents nabbed dozens of migrants from the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Uzbekistan after the 30-foot boat they were traveling in was targeted near Desecheo Island, Puerto Rico.
The operation began in the early hours of June 6, just before 12:30 a.m. local time, when the Caribbean Air and Marine Operations Center first detected a target of interest west of the island.
CBP officials said the intelligence was immediately relayed to a National Air Security Operations Center DHC-8 aircrew, which subsequently tracked down the 25- to 30-foot rustic vessel carrying 40 migrants.

Jennifer Lopez admits she 'would've had sex' with entire star-studded 90s movie cast
Jennifer Lopez made a NSFW confession during a recent podcast interview.
During an appearance on the "Films to be Buried With" podcast, hosted by her "Office Romance" co-star, Brett Goldstein, the 56-year-old actress and singer shared her love for the cast of the 1993 movie, "True Romance."
"There are all these seedy characters in the movie, but I mean you have Christian Slater, who works in the record store and has hallucinations of Elvis, who is played by Val Kilmer," she said. "And then you have Patricia Arquette, who couldn't be better as the hooker with the heart of gold who is the sweetest."
She went on to name the other cast members, including Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini and Gary Oldman, before saying, "I would've had sex with any one of them."
"That is the truth," she said. "They were all so, which says a lot about me, but maybe like the dark side of me. Okay. But all of them were so incredibly f---ing good in this movie. Their performances were so top-notch and so believable and so dynamic."
She recalled one scene in particular in which Arquette's character is beaten up by Gandolfini, saying, although she had a "blown up face for the rest of the movie," she still looked "sexy," noting, "you still wanna kind of kiss her on the lips."

"True Romance" followed the story of an Elvis enthusiast and a hooker who fall in love and, after mistakenly stealing a suitcase full of cocaine, set out to sell it without knowing the mob is now after them.

When speaking to Harper's Bazaar in June 2026, Goldstein, who also co-wrote the movie, referenced Lopez's previous roles in rom-coms such as "Maid in Manhattan" and "The Wedding Planner," noting in all those films, she is "a working girl, aspiring to something."
"We wanted to make a love letter to workaholics and also a more grown-up, adult film. It was looking at [Lopez’s past characters] and going, ‘Well, what if she’s the CEO now? What if she’s made it? She has a lot of power, and she is also proud of her work. She loves what she’s done and what she’s built.’ "
Lopez told the outlet that when she read the script she "was very excited to do it," saying that while the script had "a very wholesome quality to it," it also had "hard jokes where people are cursing," calling it "very much Brett's brand of writing."
Goldstein is known for his role as Roy Kent in the hit Apple TV + show, "Ted Lasso," which he was also a writer on. He has since co-created the hit show, "Shrinking," which stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel.
Darby Allin returns to attack Kevin Knight, Mark Briscoe gets closer to MJF's title, and more from 'Dynamite'
Kevin Knight aligned himself with the Don Callis Family in recent weeks as he looked to capitalize on getting an opportunity at the AEW World Championship.
Knight started All Elite Wrestling (AEW) "Dynamite" taking aim at Darby Allin and "Speedball" Mike Bailey. He said the fans were upset that Allin failed to keep the AEW title at Double or Nothing against Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and that Bailey was the one who broke up the Jet Speed tag team.
Knight called out MJF but he got Allin instead. Allin hit Knight with a skateboard.

"I hope New York was worth it. I hope New York was worth it, b---h" Allin said.
Other members of the Don Callis Family came out to chase Allin out of the arena but the message was already sent. Instead of Knight sending it to the world champion, it was Allin sending one to "The Jet."
Allin hadn’t been seen since he lost the title to MJF in a hair vs. title match. Knight was the one who came out at the end of the match and levied a punishment onto Allin. Knight hit a UFO Splash on Allin as he was strapped to a gurney.
Meanwhile, Andrade El Idolo is still waiting for Callis to make good on his promise for a title shot against MJF. Andrade addressed Callis later in the night and the slimy manager said the shot was coming in the future.
For weeks, Mark Briscoe had challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship and the champion had brushed him off each time. MJF has claimed that Briscoe isn’t main event material or championship material. But it all changed on Wednesday.
Briscoe picked up another big win in his singles match against Pac. He hasn’t been on the losing side of a match since "Dynamite" on March 11 when he and the Young Bucks lost a six-man tag team match to Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood and Tommaso Ciampa.
But Briscoe came with a plan. He said he spoke to AEW CEO Tony Khan about a world championship opportunity and a match at Forbidden Door was made. Briscoe and five others will take on MJF and five others in a steel cage match.
If Briscoe’s team wins, he will be guaranteed an AEW World Championship shot. MJF went right to the Don Callis Family for help. Knight said he would help MJF if he was given a chance at the AEW title.

Will Ospreay fought and clawed his way to the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final with wins over Samoa Joe and Mark Davis. On the other side of the bracket, he waited for the winner between Swerve Strickland and Brody King.
All Ospreay had to do was watch Strickland and King beat the brakes off each other as he got an extra week of rest. King survived two House Calls and Strickland was able to power through a nasty Death Valley driver into the corner and a piledriver. Strickland then hit King with a Vertebreaker to win the match. Prince Nana helped out by hitting King in the head with a weapon.
Strickland and Ospreay will meet each other in the final at Forbidden Door on June 28.
Maya World was put into the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament at the very last second as Saree wasn’t cleared to take part. Saree was set to square off against Skye Blue.
World came into the match with a heavy heart as she revealed the death of her younger brother. She was wrestling in honor of her late brother and hoped to pull off a stunner.
She had a terrific match against Hazuki back on May 30 and had two big wins in Ring of Honor – a singles match against Trish Adora and a tag team win with Hyan. She also competed in the Survival of the Fittest for the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship, which Athena retained.
While Blue had much of the momentum in the match, World fought back. World blocked a running knee and hit Blue with a suplex. World connected with her own running knee strike but only picked up the two count. Both women were giving it their all to advance in the tournament with the hopes of earning an AEW Women’s World Championship shot.
World, somehow, countered Blue’s attacks into a pinning combination and got the three. She will move on to the semifinals and face Athena.
George Lucas spotted at USMNT World Cup opener where player nicknamed 'Jedi' helped deliver 4-1 win
There was a ton of buzz about the USMNT's World Cup opener — and you could argue even more buzz after they impressed everyone with a 4-1 win over Paraguay — and since it was in Los Angeles, there were plenty of celebrities on hand.
Including a certain legendary director responsible for the "Star Wars" saga... the better versions.
That's right, George Lucas was in attendance for the match, which was fitting considering he helped inspire one of the USMNT's most recognizable nicknames.
WATCH THE WORLD CUP FINAL ON FOX ONE
One of the top players on the U.S. squad is 28-year-old Antonee Robinson. However, these days, he's often known by his nickname "Jedi."
Every nerd reading this just perked up a little...
Of course, "Jedi" comes from the world of "Star Wars." Lucas had a habit of taking words from other languages, and the name for his films' lightsaber-wielding heroes is believed to have come from the Japanese word jidaigeki, a term used for historical samurai.
FOX ONE’S NEW WORLD CUP VIEWING EXPERIENCE
Well, Robinson was a huge "Star Wars" fan as a kid, and earned the nickname "Jedi." Eventually, according to The Sporting News, this became public knowledge, and it stuck.
Then, in a full-circle moment, there was George Lucas in the stands for Robinson and the USMNT's World Cup opener... and he was just annihilating some sandwich.
George Lucas is the man. He just is.
He's a billionaire creative genius who has worn the same flannels and Nike Air Monarchs for decades, and comes across as the same dude he has always been.
That's just the coolest thing ever.
Also, I really like the time he went bombing into a corner in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race at Long Beach and crashed his already beat-up Scion TC.
What a guy.
We'll have to see if Lucas hits up any more matches, and if he does, I think someone has to find a way to get Jedi Robinson a photo with the guy who invented the term.
Obama Presidential Center's $470M safety net under scrutiny as subcontractors say they're owed millions
Concern is mounting that taxpayers could be left holding the bag if the Obama Presidential Center runs into financial trouble, as the foundation behind it has yet to establish a promised $470 million safety net to guard against a public bailout.
The scrutiny comes as a Fox News Digital investigation found multiple contractors and subcontractors claiming losses ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions on the project, with some alleging they remain locked in payment disputes and face financial ruin just days before the center's grand opening.
Under its agreement with the city, the Obama Foundation pledged to create the fund, known as an endowment, as part of its 99-year deal to take control of the publicly owned 19.3-acre section of Jackson Park for a one-time payment of just $10.
Fox News Digital previously reported that the foundation had deposited just $1 million into the reserve fund in 2021 and that the balance remained largely unchanged in its most recent publicly available filings.
Concerns about the center’s financial state have raged for years, especially since construction delays and costs have ballooned from an original estimate of roughly $330 million to at least $850 million based on 2021 figures. An updated final projected cost has not been made public.
Endowment concerns
"One of their core promises was they were supposed to create an endowment as basically an insurance policy so the taxpayers wouldn’t get stuck with the bill," Illinois GOP Chair Robert Grogan told Fox News Digital outside the center last week as worker vehicles entered and exited the center.
"They promised hundreds of millions of dollars for it. It’s still sitting at the $1 million mark [where it stood] when they opened it up. So I don’t believe that they’ve kept that promise."
The contractor disputes have renewed concern of the endowment because critics argue the fund was intended to serve as a backstop if the project ever encountered financial distress. The Obama Foundation disputes suggestions that taxpayers face exposure and said the project is funded through private contributions.
Grogan said reports that contractors and subcontractors remain locked in payment disputes make the largely unfunded reserve even more problematic.
"The fact that they have created this probably unsustainable edifice to an ego and then, eventually, if it goes under, who’s going to be caught with the bill time and time again? It’s the taxpayers of the city, citizens of Chicago and the state of Illinois."
BUREAUCRATS HIDE TRUE PRICE OF OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER AS TAXPAYERS HIT WITH INFRASTRUCTURE BILL
Richard Epstein, a New York University law professor who has spent years challenging the project in court, said the reserve fund was intended to protect against exactly this type of uncertainty.
"The whole point of an endowment is to fund future expenses," Epstein told Fox News Digital, adding that the endowment acts as a financial backup if future fundraising falls short.
"If the endowment hasn’t been filled, the building [could] fall into neglect, it then becomes a safety risk, and it turns out that nobody’s going to pay the bill," Epstein said. "The city therefore, is going to have to assume additional obligations to make sure that thing is kept in place."
Grogan said reports that contractors remain unpaid only reinforce the need for closer scrutiny and called for an investigation if allegations that subcontractors were left holding the bag prove accurate.
Subcontractor disputes raise new questions
A Fox News Digital investigation identified multiple construction firms claiming losses ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to tens of millions.
Outside the center last week, Adamson Plumbing President Mike Owen provided company spreadsheets to Fox News Digital, which he said showed that his firm is nearly $4 million in the red. He said that unnecessary rework, delays and more than 100 change-order requests left his company absorbing millions of dollars in additional costs.
In addition, Omar Shareef, the president of the African American Contractors Association, told Fox News Digital outside the center last Saturday that several Black-owned contractors are also in financial difficulty due to the project.
The claims raise fresh worries about the center’s long-term financial sustainability because an endowment is intended to provide a permanent source of income that can help fund future operations and cushion against financial stress. Endowments are typically invested, with a portion of the earnings used to support an institution over time.
The Obama Foundation told Fox News Digital that it is in compliance with its agreement with the city, noting that the pact required the creation of an endowment but did not specify a dollar target.
OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER DEPOSITS JUST $1M INTO $470M RESERVE FUND AIMED TO PROTECT TAXPAYERS
The foundation said the Obama Presidential Center is "fully funded" and that it plans to make "significant investments" in the endowment in the coming years.
"On the eve of our Grand Opening celebrations, we are pleased to reiterate that the Obama Presidential Center is fully funded with generous private contributions," the Obama Foundation said in a statement.
The $470 million figure emerged during public discussions surrounding the project and was later cited in the Obama Foundation's 2020 annual report, which featured a fundraising chart stating:
"$470M of our fundraising goal will go toward seeding an endowment that will sustain Obama Foundation activities and the operations of the OPC for generations to come."
The foundation previously estimated annual operating costs could reach approximately $40 million.
Nonprofit endowments are typically structured so that only a small percentage of the fund — often around 4% to 5% annually — is spent each year while the principal remains invested. The goal is to generate investment income that can help support operations over the long term without relying entirely on future fundraising. The Obama Presidential Center consists of a museum tower, digital library, athletic facilities, conference space and offices for the Obama Foundation on Chicago's South Side. The Obama Foundation is overseeing its construction and will run its day-to-day future operations.
Epstein disputed the foundation's interpretation, arguing that an endowment is intended to provide meaningful financial protection and that a promise to raise money in the future is not the same as having a funded endowment in place.
"On their view, putting a penny in an endowment fund covers all the risks," Epstein said.
"There has to be a pile of cash to fund any particular process and then ensure some kind of robustness against radical changes in the market."
Trump picks James McDonald to lead powerful Southern District of New York after Jay Clayton's departure
President Donald Trump on Saturday announced his intent to appoint James M. McDonald as the next U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY).
The high-profile position is opening up following Trump's recent nomination of the district's current U.S. attorney, Jay Clayton, to serve in his cabinet as the nation's new director of national intelligence.
"I am confident that Jamie will deliver strong results for our Country as the next United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, as he has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, our Law Enforcement Patriots, the Legal Community, and the Judicial Bench," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post announcing the pick.
TRUMP GREEN LIGHTS NEW DNI PULTE TO 'START THE PROCESS' ON MASS INTELLIGENCE FIRINGS
McDonald, an Oklahoma native, previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the SDNY and worked during Trump's first term as the director of enforcement at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Like his predecessor Clayton, McDonald has strong ties to the prominent law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, where he currently serves as a senior partner.
His legal background also includes clerking for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr., and graduating from Harvard College and the University of Virginia School of Law.
