AOC accuses Vance of believing ‘American people should be assassinated in the street’
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is leveling a stunning accusation at Vice President JD Vance amid the national furor over this week's fatal shooting in Minnesota involving an ICE agent.
"I understand that Vice President Vance believes that shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not," the four-term federal lawmaker from New York and progressive champion argued as she answered questions on Friday on Capitol Hill from Fox News and other news organizations.
Ocasio-Cortez spoke in the wake of Wednesday's shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good after she confronted ICE agents from inside her car in Minneapolis.

Video of the incident instantly went viral, and while Democrats have heavily criticized the shooting, the Trump administration is vocally defending the actions of the ICE agent.

Vance, at a White House briefing on Thursday, charged that "this was an attack on federal law enforcement. This was an attack on law and order."
"That woman was there to interfere with a legitimate law enforcement operation," the vice president added. "The president stands with ICE, I stand with ICE, we stand with all of our law enforcement officers."
And Vance claimed Good was "brainwashed" and suggested she was connected to a "broader, left-wing network."
Federal sources told Fox News on Friday that Good, who was a mother of three, worked as a Minneapolis-based immigration activist serving as a member of "ICE Watch."
Ocasio-Cortez, in responding to Vance's comments, said, "That is a fundamental difference between Vice President Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street."
But a spokesperson for the vice president, responding to Ocasio-Cortez's accusation, told Fox News Digital, "On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, AOC made it clear she thinks that radical leftists should be able to mow down ICE officials in broad daylight. She should be ashamed of herself. The Vice President stands with ICE and the brave men and women of law enforcement, and so do the American people."
Dem levels 'state-sponsored terrorism' accusation after Portland shooting: 'Stop f---ing with us'
Rep. Janelle Bynum, D-Ore., accused federal authorities of "state-sponsored terrorism" after U.S. Customs and Border Protection opened fire in Portland on Thursday.
"This isn’t law enforcement, it’s state-sponsored terrorism," Bynum declared in the statement.
"Stop f---ing with us. This is the second shooting this week by agents following the orders of a wannabe dictator who is trying to take over cities and rule by instilling terror in the hearts of American people. When the President deployed his guardsmen to our city earlier this year, we told him their presence was unwelcome and unhelpful. Today, we saw just how dangerous this is — we need these goons gone. Get to steppin’," she asserted in the Thursday statement.
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment on Friday.
The shooting in Portland occurred on Thursday because someone tried to run over authorities, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
A Thursday post on X noted that Border Patrol agents "were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon. The passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The vehicle driver is believed to be a member of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua."
"When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents. Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot," the DHS post noted.

DHS stated in a post on Friday that the man and woman in the vehicle had both unlawfully entered the U.S. and been released into the nation by President Joe Biden's administration.
"Yesterday, two suspected Tren de Aragua gang associates — let loose on American streets by Joe Biden — weaponized their vehicle against Border Patrol in Portland. The agent took immediate action to defend himself and others, shooting them," DHS stated in the Friday post on X.
"The driver of the vehicle, Luis David Nico Moncada is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and suspected Tren de Aragua gang member," DHS said. "He illegally entered the U.S. in 2022 and was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration. Since then, he was arrested for DUI and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He has a final order of removal."
"The passenger, Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and is associated with Tren de Aragua. She illegally entered the U.S. in 2023 near El Paso, Texas, and was RELEASED into this country by the Biden administration. Since illegally entering, Contreras played an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and was involved with a prior shooting in Portland," the post declared.

The incident on Thursday came after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot a driver in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
"Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them —an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots," DHS said in a Wednesday post on X, noting that "The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased."

Jenny McCarthy admits marriage 'challenge' she and husband Donnie Wahlberg face
While Jenny McCarthy admits she’s "addicted" to husband Donnie Wahlberg, she describes his snoring as a "challenge."
"He is the nicest human being you'll ever meet," McCarthy told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on "Live" about her husband of 11 years. "People know that. People that work with him say, 'We've never worked with anybody like this.'"
She said to cheers from the audience that he treats her like a queen, loves her and is "absolutely what you would call textbook truly perfect. Perfect."
But she said he "took up snoring" just as she was starting to go through perimenopause, "which, of course, you start to lose your sleep anyways."

"The Masked Singer" star, though, wasn’t about to let that stop her from spending the night with her man.
She said she now sleeps with a pair of giant noise-cancelling headphones and has a stack of pillows that Wahlberg calls the "Great Wall of China" in between them when they sleep.
"I built in these insulations that I think really helped me get through the night now, which is … I sleep with these giant headphones every night … and then I built a Great Wall of China — Donnie calls it the Great Wall of China."
The "Two and a Half Men" actress said their bedroom now feels soundproof to her.

"I am listening to ocean waves in my ears," she explained.

If Wahlberg makes a loud snoring noise, she explained with a laugh-inducing imitation, McCarthy told Ripa and Consuelos that she’ll give him a "love tap" so he’ll turn over. Ripa explained that she slaps the bed when Consuelos snores.

To further complicate their sleeping situation, McCarthy said their five shih tzus curl up in their bed with them every night, and she’s careful not to wake them.
Wahlberg discussed his marriage with Fox News Digital last year.
"We've both been divorced before, so we did a lot of individual therapy and when we got together we decided, let's do some together, sort of preemptive, because no matter what, every new relationship brings on new challenges, and sometimes we don't even know what activates us, what causes us to react to certain things and brings out vulnerabilities in us," said Wahlberg.
"But intimate new relationships are usually where they surface," he continued. "Some of us are really good at working in a work environment or with friends. We can give advice, and we can handle things, but sometimes you get into a romantic relationship and suddenly things bother you that don't bother you in other parts of your life. And it's because it's the most vulnerable relationship you're going to be in, and that's where those vulnerabilities pop up."
McCarthy and Wahlberg began dating in July 2013 and tied the knot in August 2014. Wahlberg has two sons from his previous marriage to Kimberly Fey, and McCarthy has one son, Evan, from an earlier marriage to John Asher.

He said they try to "put the relationship first."

House Republicans defend ICE agent in fatal shooting, say use of force was justified
Republicans on Capitol Hill moved quickly to defend a federal ICE agent involved in a fatal shooting in Minnesota, saying the officer acted within his bounds after facing what authorities described as an immediate threat.
"They were within their right to defend themselves. He was defending himself," Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., said.
"We have to show respect for the ICE agent. We have to show respect to our public safety officials," he added.
GOV WALZ AUTHORIZES NATIONAL GUARD STAGING FOLLOWING FATAL ICE SHOOTING IN MINNEAPOLIS
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have split largely along party lines on whether the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday in a suburb outside of Minneapolis had reacted reasonably. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the agent fired at Good when she had first attempted to disrupt an ICE arrest, refused orders to exit her car, began driving away and placing an ICE agent in the path of her moving vehicle.
"If you look at the tape, you'll see that that person was using a car as a weapon against this ICE agent, actually hitting him with the car," Carter said.
Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., echoed Carter’s reasoning.
"I mean, law enforcement says, ‘Hey, stop, open up your door, let me see your ID.’ And then not only do you take off, but you go right at somebody as they jump out of the way of the car — basically you're trying to run them over," Meuser said.

Democrats have challenged that narrative, arguing that the shooting was the result of a developing culture within law enforcement that prioritizes aggressiveness over safety.
Rep. Brad Schneider, D-Ill., believes that culture comes from the top down.
"The killing of Renee Good is not simply the result of one officer’s actions," Schneider said in a statement on Friday. "It is the product of an enforcement culture that has grown increasingly aggressive, unaccountable, violent and chaotic."
"ICE’s actions in Minnesota and across the country, including in Illinois, are not making us safer. Instead, they are bringing fear and violence to our streets under the direction of Secretary [Kristi] Noem," Schneider said, referring to the DHS secretary.
Republicans largely came to the defense of Noem and the administration when reacting to the incident, stressing the perceived threat the officer responded to.

Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., believes the shooting could have been avoided altogether if state leaders had helped de-escalate rhetoric surrounding ICE’s operations.
"What happened is two people got involved in a situation that could have been avoided, had she not been obstructing the law," he said. "And then when they went to go arrest her, she tried to drive away with a person in front of her car. He made a quick decision. That scenario escalated very rapidly, and somebody died."
"That's not good for anybody," McCormick added.
Second Georgia lawmaker accused of ripping off taxpayers with pandemic unemployment fraud announces retirement
The second Georgia state House member accused of fabricating claims to collect federal unemployment benefits during the pandemic has announced her retirement as she faces charges.
Karen Bennett of Stone Mountain – located roughly 20 miles from Atlanta – is facing one count of making false statements to collect $13,940 as of Monday, according to the Associated Press.
In an initial court appearance, Bennett opted to waive indictment and was released on $10,000 bail after pleading not guilty to the charge. In federal court, the decision to waive indictment often precedes a guilty plea.
On Thursday, Bennett, a Democrat, resigned from the position she has held since 2012, in which she represented portions DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.

"I am proud of the work accomplished by the Georgia General Assembly when we came together to advance policies that strengthened our state and improved the lives of all Georgians," Bennett wrote in a letter obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. "Serving in this capacity has truly been a labor of love, and one I will deeply miss."
Prosecutors allege Bennett, who works as a physical therapist, lied when she claimed that in 2020, she was unable to work for her company, Metro Therapy Providers, due to quarantine restrictions.
However, Bennett allegedly served in an administrative role within the company and worked from a home office, rather than providing therapy to clients, according to prosecutors.
Additionally, prosecutors allege that Metro Therapy continued its operations after a brief disruption during the pandemic, and that Bennett failed to add she was receiving a weekly pay of $905 from the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served as a minister.
Bennett is the second Democratic House member in Georgia to be charged with making false statements in order to receive federal funds, with prosecutors also charging. Rep. Sharon Henderson of Covington on charges of theft of government funds and making false statements in December.
Henderson is accused of illegally collecting $17,811 in federal unemployment benefits, and remains in office while free on bail. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp has yet to appoint a review commission to independently determine if Henderson should be suspended from her state position following last month’s indictment.
In the midst of the pandemic, the federal government utilized state employment systems to pay out special unemployment benefits to individuals who lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19.

Democrats are expected to begin the session on Monday with 79 members in the 180-member House, after Democratic state Rep. Lynn Heffner of Augusta also resigned earlier this week. Heffner revealed that her home had been severely damaged in 2024’s Hurricane Helene and that rebuilding has reached an "impasse," potentially forcing her to move out of House District 130.
Kemp must now call special elections to replace both Bennett and Heffner, but it is unclear if their replacements will be seated before the end of the regular session.
Bennett's attorney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Pennsylvania man allegedly found with over 100 sets of human remains in home, storage unit: ‘Horror movie'
A Pennsylvania man is facing hundreds of charges after "over 100 full or partial sets of human and skeletal remains" were allegedly found in his home and a storage unit in a scene a district attorney described as a "horror movie come to life."
Jonathan Gerlach, 34, of Ephrata, Pa., was arrested this week by police who were investigating a string of burglarized graves and mausoleums at the Mount Moriah Cemetery on the outskirts of Philadelphia, according to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.
"Detectives walked into a horror movie come to life... This is an unbelievable scene that no one involved, from myself, to the detectives to the medical examiners that are now trying to piece together what they are looking at — quite literally — none of them have ever seen anything like this before," District Attorney Tanner Rouse said Thursday.
"Detectives have recovered an awful lot of bones at this point, and we are still trying to piece together who they are, where they are from and how many we are looking at, and it’s going to be quite some time before we have a final answer," Rouse added, noting that some of the remains were months-old infants, while others were hundreds of years old.
The Delaware County District Attorney's Office said around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, police were conducting surveillance of Mount Moriah Cemetery "when they observed the suspect’s car with numerous bones and skulls in plain view in the back seat of the vehicle."
"Gerlach was then seen exiting the cemetery holding a burlap bag, crowbar and other assorted items. The offender was brought into custody where he admitted to stealing approximately 30 sets of human remains," it continued.
"Through investigation it is believed that over 100 full or partial sets of human and skeletal remains have been recovered from Gerlach’s home and storage unit in Ephrata. This investigation remains ongoing," it added.

Gerlach was charged with more than 450 counts, including 100 counts each of abuse of corpse, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
His bail was set at $1 million, with an arraignment hearing scheduled for Jan. 20.
"I grieve for those who are upset by this, who are going through this, who are trying to figure out if it is in fact one of their loved ones," Rouse said.
Kate Hudson addresses criticism from real family behind her new movie 'Song Sung Blue'
Kate Hudson is responding to criticism regarding her latest movie.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress addressed the recent controversy surrounding her new movie, "Song Sung Blue," which tells the story of the real-life husband-and-wife duo who made up the Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder.
"Honestly, I don’t even know — out of respect for our filmmakers, I’m not the right person to speak to it," Hudson told the outlet.
In the film, Hudson portrayed Claire "Thunder" Sardina while Hugh Jackman played Mike "Lightning" Sardina, and though the movie was a critical success, Mike's real-life children, Michael Jr. and Angelina, had many issues with it.

"Every interview that those monsters have been on on national television don't even mention my existence at all, even though I was the most prevalent force in my father's life, even when I wasn't in Wisconsin, because I'm his only son," he said of Jackman and Hudson.
Angelina added that while the movie told "a beautiful story," it does not reflect what really happened, noting, "I guess that's what's upsetting because it's a lie."
While Mike Jr. and Angelina are upset with the end product, their stepmother, Claire — who married Mike Sr. at the Wisconsin State Fair in 1994 — and her two children from a prior marriage, Dayna and Rachel, have been supportive.

"I want the true story out there, and I want it used with truth, with dignity, and I want retribution," Mike Jr. said. "I want retribution from NBCUniversal [and other parties involved], not just for me, for my father, for me, and for my little sister — my father's true descendants — because they screwed us over.
"Everybody thinks it's such a wonderful film, it's so touching," he added. "It's all lies. And it steals all the hard work that my father put in his entire life so that Claire, Rachel and Dayna can soak up a massive paycheck."
While Hudson did not comment on what Mike Jr. had to say, she expressed gratitude for getting to meet Claire and have her involved in the movie.
"I’m so happy that I got to know Claire, who’s such a wonderful woman, and she’s so happy with the movie," she said.

Minnesota schools shut down, teachers union demands ICE leave city
Additional schools throughout Minnesota canceled classes Friday in light of ongoing unrest after the fatal shooting of a woman by a federal agent on Wednesday.
Fridley Public Schools announced the district will not host in-person classes on Friday, joining Minneapolis Public Schools after officials canceled classes on Thursday through the remainder of the week, according to Fox 9 Minneapolis.
"We need ICE out of Minneapolis now," Catina Taylor, president of the Educational Support Professionals Chapter of the Minneapolis Federation of Educators, said in a press conference on Friday. "We need ICE away from our schools now. Since arriving, ICE has been a dangerous and out-of-control force putting every Minnesotan in danger."
Columbia Heights Public Schools also said they are shifting to a Flex Learning Day on Friday.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told "America's Newsroom" Friday that "our law enforcement does not go into schools unless there is a public safety threat within those schools."
"What we saw on Wednesday, which one of those educators was referring to, was there was an individual who was assaulting our law enforcement, and he started a chase that went about five miles," McLaughlin said, responding to the teachers union. "The subject of this chase started going over barriers, he was running red lights, and eventually he took the chase onto school grounds. Our law enforcement did not go into this school and made sure to diffuse the situation."
The move comes after a surge of more than 2,000 federal agents arrived in the Twin Cities this week, ramping up immigration efforts throughout the area.
On Wednesday, Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent after allegedly moving her vehicle toward the officer, in what has been described by DHS as an act of "self-defense."
Later that day, ICE agents deployed a chemical irritant outside of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and took at least one staff member into custody.

"A mother was murdered, an elementary school was forced to lock down," Taylor said. "Grown men use pepper spray on terrified high school students, on school property – and that was just on Wednesday. This is the opposite of protecting our kids. This is the opposite of keeping the peace."
According to data released by the National Assessment of Education Progress, less than half of Minnesota students in both fourth and eighth grades were able to demonstrate proficiency in math and reading in the 2024 school year.

"What we’re seeing is that our students are still in recovery mode from the onset of the pandemic," Julio Caesar, executive director of research, evaluation and assessment at Bloomington Public Schools, told MPR News at the time.
However, Minnesota eighth graders ranked fourth in the nation in math scores in 2024, with fourth graders ranking in the top 10 among states.
Gov. Tim Walz also called for a "Day of Unity" on Friday in light of Good’s death and the ongoing tensions within the city, asking for a moment of silence at 10 a.m.
"As long as ICE is in Minnesota, we won't be safe," Taylor said. "On this day of mourning, our hearts go out to Renee Good and her family. To make sure no one else has to suffer this devastating loss, ICE needs to stay away from all of our schools, starting today."

Obama Presidential Center job listings push ‘anti-racism’ pledge ahead of opening
The Obama Presidential Center is just months away from opening in Chicago, officially accepting job applications for individuals who share the organization's commitment to "anti-racism and equity," according to its website.
"When people come here, we want them to feel what makes the South Side so special," former President Barack Obama said in a video message posted to social media Tuesday announcing the job openings. "The mix of warmth and grit, the sense of humor that can brighten any day, the creativity that turns challenges into opportunities, and the joy that shows up in every block, every place of worship and every family reunion."
The presidential center, which is expected to open on Chicago's South Side in June, is looking to fill 150 job positions stretching from custodians to "ambassadors of hope" who greet visitors. Applications are open until Jan. 31.
The Obama Foundation's website underscores its commitment to being an "anti-racist" organization throughout its main web page focused on careers, as well as within the job descriptions for the available roles.
Within its job description advertising for a full-time security officer, for example, the website notes that it is an equal opportunity employer that is "deeply committed to creating an actively anti-racist organization, leveraging our global reach to combat systemic racism and inequity wherever it exists."
The center describes its team as "equal parts dreamers and doers" and who "care as much about how we achieve our goals as we do about the goals themselves."
"We are also committed to creating an anti-racist organization in order to do our part to help combat racism and inequity in all forms, in communities across our nation and around the world," the Obama Foundation's main webpage for careers states.
The Obama Foundation directed website visitors and potential hires to read its lengthy statement on anti-racism and equity, which highlighted that the organization is working to build a network committed to addressing systemic racism and gender discrimination, stressing that combating inequity requires not just policy changes but sustained cultural and institutional commitment.
"That’s why our goal is to make sure every member of the Foundation team is committed to anti-racism, sets expectations for how we will engage, and makes space for the work," the statement said. "We’re focused on making sure our actions match our intent – removing barriers for diverse vendors, building anti-racism and equity into our hiring practices, and recruiting diverse cohorts for our leadership programs. We also want to be strong partners, working with members of the predominantly Black community that is our home, and the future home of the (Obama Presidential Center)."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Obama Foundation Friday morning inquiring if there's a mechanism or process to determine a potential hire is aligned with their "anti-racist" vision, and if it will accept applications from noncitizens, but did not immediately receive a reply.
Obama's presidential center underscoring its commitment to anti-racist policies comes after President Donald Trump took a hatchet to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within the federal government upon his return to the Oval Office, which has had a cascading effect throughout private industry.
Trump signed an executive order on day one of his second administration, for example, titled "Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing," which directed federal agencies to stamp out DEI-style programs across the federal government. The following day, Trump signed a second order aimed at "restoring merit-based opportunity," including changes to federal contracting and related compliance.
"We’ve ended the tyranny of so-called Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies all across the entire federal government and indeed the private sector and our military. And our country will be woke no longer," Trump said in March during a joint address to Congress celebrating his early wins of the administration.

Obama's presidential center is set to open its doors in June after years of delays, including lawsuits and federal reviews that pushed the timeline back from its initial 2021 expected opening. The center will include a handful of attractions, including the presidential library, a museum, auditorium, a Chicago Public Library branch, a garden, athletic facility and other attractions on its roughly 20-acre campus.
The building has faced sharp scrutiny and mockery from some locals, who have previously lampooned the design of the massive, mostly window-less building, with the New York Post reporting some Chicagoans refer to it as the "Obamalisk."
Obama Foundation Deputy Director Kim Patterson defended the architecture in December 2025, telling CBS News that the design of the building was intentional, including to protect artwork within the building.
"The shape of the building was actually meant to mimic four hands coming together to show the importance of our collective action," Patterson told the outlet.
"There are not a lot of windows on the building, but that's intentional, because sunlight is just not a friend to the artwork and the artifacts that are going inside of the building," Patterson added of why the building has few windows.
