Trump takes aim at Pope Leo XIV meeting with 'useless' Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson at Vatican
President Donald Trump called out Pope Leo XIV for meeting with the "useless" Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson over the weekend.
"Someone should explain to the Pope that the Mayor of Chicago is useless, and that Iran cannot have a Nuclear Weapon!" Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday.
Trump's post came after photos emerged of Johnson meeting with the pope, who was born and raised in Chicago, last week at the Vatican.

"It was an honor to share time with a magnificent human, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, yesterday," Johnson wrote on X Friday.
In a comment to Fox News Digital, the mayor's office said, "Chicagoans have had more than enough of Trump's blasphemous war in Iran. Someone should explain to the president that he's only making it harder for working families to make ends meet."
Fox News Digital also reached out to the Vatican for comment.
Johnson led a Chicago delegation that included George Floyd family lawyer Antonio Romanucci on a trip Thursday to the Vatican. During their meeting, Johnson presented an array of apparel from Chicago, including a Chicago Cubs hat.
Ahead of his visit, Johnson told the Chicago Sun-Times that he planned to ask Pope Leo to use his pulpit "to support reparations for local descendants of African American slaves."
"That’s an important conversation…Absolutely… Yes. I want to be very clear about that," Johnson said.
Trump's comment also came after months of tension between the president and the pontiff over Pope Leo's criticism of the administration's hard-line immigration policies and foreign policy.
"I don't want a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don't want a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post last month.
He added, "Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church."

Pope Leo responded previously by saying that he has "no fear of the Trump administration" and that his calls for peace should not be seen as a political attack.
"The things that I say are certainly not meant as attacks on anyone," the pope said. "I don't think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing. I will continue to speak out loudly against war, looking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for just solutions to problems."
Scott Peterson's longtime lawyer claims 'new' evidence could force courts to revisit his murder conviction
LAS VEGAS — Scott Peterson's longtime lawyer claims his team has new evidence that could force courts to take another look at his murder conviction, just ahead of the release of a documentary about the case.
The documentary, which will be released this summer, comes after a San Mateo County Superior Court judge on April 27 denied his most recent bid to overturn the murder conviction. The Los Angeles Innocence Project, which is representing Peterson, said it will appeal the ruling to a higher court.
Peterson was convicted of killing wife Laci and their unborn son on or around Dec. 24, 2002, in Modesto, California.
His longtime defense attorney, Mark Geragos, told Fox News Digital at CrimeCon in Las Vegas that he has never seen "anything that ties Scott Peterson to a criminal conviction in this case."

Geragos said a burned-out van found near the Petersons' house after a burglary could be connected to the case, and alleged that prosecutors initially hid that piece of evidence.
"There was a van, it was ditched and set on fire very close to the house, within miles," Gergaos said. "That van contained a treasure trove of evidence that should have been tested in real time, some of which was, some of which still exists, and that they're actively not trying to or prevent the defense from doing it."
In a previous court filing, his defense team said Laci Peterson confronted a pair of burglars who were attempting to break into a house across the street Dec. 24, 2002. According to Peterson's lawyers, that would exonerate him because it would have happened after he left for a fishing trip, meaning he would not have been in the area when his wife disappeared.
Geragos says the Los Angeles Innocence Project gave the court a "laundry list" of items that could be retested for DNA, which was rejected.

"Why wouldn't you want to? Why wouldn't you want vindicate yourself if you're the prosecution? The only explanation is because you're not sure that you've got the right guy," Geragos said.
He said that there's "clearly new stuff that's gonna come out," adding "there are still bombshells yet to come."

Ninette Toosbuy, a retired Los Angeles Police Department detective and private investigator who works with Peterson's defense team, told Fox News Digital that multiple witnesses contacted the Modesto Police Department and reported they hadn't seen Laci Peterson on the morning of December 24, but weren't vetted
"So I think there are two real critical areas where exculpatory information was not provided to the defense team," Toosbuy said. "One was the multiple witnesses who had contacted Modesto PD to say that they had seen Laci Peterson on the morning of the 24th. Those witnesses were not all vetted out."
"If just one or two witnesses had been vetted and could have confirmed that, in fact, they did see Laci Peterson in the park or in the neighborhood, and that their statement was reliable, that would have immediately, within the first 48 hours, eliminated Scott Peterson as a suspect. And yet that was an area that Modesto PD decided not to pursue. And from my standpoint as an investigator, it's a real failure of the investigation," she added.
A&E will release a two-part documentary, "Scott Peterson: The New Evidence," on July 16 and 17, which will include witness testimony as well as interviews with Geragos and other individuals who were close to the case.
'Married... with Children' star Ted McGinley reveals he gets penny residual checks from his hit TV shows
Ted McGinley is the latest celebrity to reveal the shocking amount he still receives from residual checks.
In a new interview with Page Six, the "Married... With Children" star — who also found fame on "Happy Days" and "The Love Boat" throughout the 1970s, ’80s, and '90s — said he's holding on to a "whole stack" of checks each worth a total of one penny.
"I’ve been getting residuals all the time," said McGinley, who admitted the checks become smaller and smaller as the years go by.
While McGinley doesn't bother to cash the small checks, he can't get himself to toss them either.

During an appearance on the "McBride Rewind" podcast, Jodie Sweetin — who earned stardom from her role as Stephanie Tanner on "Full House" during the show's entire eight-season run from 1987 to 1995, then again in the spinoff "Fuller House" from 2016 to 2020 — shared the shocking amount she received from her latest residual check.

Sweetin, at the time, said she "got a one-cent check the other day."
"There's no syndication anymore because it's all in streaming," she continued. "Who gets paid for that? Nobody gets paid for that," she said.

In 2025, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell addressed what he said was a misconception in the entertainment world.

Bell noted that most networks pay actors residuals for work used after its initial run, but said Nickelodeon only offers a one-time payment to actors.
Blue Jays outfielder Jesús Sánchez leaves game after appearing to be hit by ball thrown from stands
There are a lot of ways for a baseball player to leave a game with an injury.
Getting hit in the hand by a ball from a fan in the stands is apparently one of those ways, although it's not a very common one.
Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jesús Sánchez exited Sunday’s 9-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles after he was hit by a ball that came from the stands at Camden Yards. The incident happened in the bottom of the sixth inning with the Blue Jays trailing the Orioles, 6-0.
At first glance, it looked bad. Sánchez was in right field during a mound visit, appeared to be talking to fans beyond the wall, turned away and then got struck in the right wrist area by what appeared to be a baseball.
That led to some understandable confusion on the Peacock broadcast.
"What're you thinking?" Jim Palmer said. "I'd fingerprint it right now."
Honestly, that was probably the first reaction for a lot of people watching the video. A ball coming from the stands and hitting an opposing player doesn’t look very good.

However, closer inspection of the video reveals that there might be some important context here.
Sánchez seemed to raise his glove toward the crowd right before the ball came back toward him. According to Baltimore Sun reporter Jacob Calvin Meyer, several fans in right field described the incident as an accident. They said a young fan, about 13, saw Sánchez flapping his glove as if he wanted to play catch, and the fan threw the ball late after Sánchez had already turned around.
There's a big difference between a fan maliciously throwing a ball at a player and a kid thinking he just got the coolest opportunity of his life, only for the timing to go horribly wrong.
And this kind of thing has happened before, albeit with much better results.
In 2012, former Tampa Bay Rays infielder Elliot Johnson famously played catch with fans after they invited him on Twitter. It was one of those neat little baseball stories that reminds everyone about how much joy sports can bring to people, even if it's over a small gesture.
This one, unfortunately, looks to be the bad version of that.

The Orioles said in a statement that the fan was identified and removed from the ballpark while the club conducts a thorough investigation, which makes sense. Even if this was an accident, the team still has to figure out exactly what happened and make sure Sánchez is OK.
Sánchez left the game after going 1-for-2 at the plate. He was replaced in right field by Yohendrick Piñango.
Fortunately for Sánchez and the Blue Jays, the initial injury update was encouraging: The Blue Jays later announced Sánchez had a bruised right wrist and that precautionary X-rays were negative.
But it is still a pretty good reminder for fans: Even if you think a major leaguer wants to play catch with you, maybe wait until you're absolutely sure he's looking.

President Donald Trump gushed about New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart in an interview on Saturday as the second-year player has faced animosity for his introduction at an event.
Trump appeared on "My View with Lara Trump" and was asked about the backlash that Dart received when he introduced the president at an event in New York.

"First of all, I wished I looked just like Jaxson," Trump said. "I said, ‘Is he a male model?’ He’s a handsome guy, like a beautiful guy, conservative guy. He said, ‘I love you, sir.’ I didn’t know he was doing it. He’s potentially a great quarterback. He’s a young boy. He just really started, but when he’s in a game, he moves the team.
"I didn’t know him but I watched him a little bit but he really moves the team. Tremendous potential. If he stays healthy, he’s gonna be great."
Trump sent a reminder about the 2024 presidential election win over Kamala Harris.
He said that he won the popular vote and received a ton of support from counties across the U.S.

"So, when Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he’s also loved more because we have more people than they do," Trump said.
Dart faced criticism, even from teammate Abdul Carter, for introducing Trump at the event in Suffern.
"Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things," Carter told reporters on Friday. "Jaxson is one of our leaders. He's the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself and what he does, but he represents all of us, and that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform.
"But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe or what I stand on, to not only show my teammates that I'm against that, but to show the world."
Dart explained that his upbringing made him feel like meeting the president was the right choice.
"This was a unique opportunity, you know, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States," Dart said. "My thinking was pretty simple in the fact of, you know, I've always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought wars. I have two uncles who have retired from the Air Force Academy and served themselves. And I even have a great grandfather who served as Secretary of Treasury at some point.
"So the president position has always been a position that I've well respected, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party and, you know, my intentions were just that."
The 2026 season, truly, cannot come soon enough.

Tigers increasingly likely to trade Tarik Skubal before deadline as playoff hopes fade, reports say
To the Detroit Tigers' credit, after reaching the playoffs in 2025, ownership and the front office decided to make another run in 2026.
They signed Framber Valdez, one of the best available pitchers on the market. They brought in Kenley Jansen to stabilize the back end of the bullpen. Offered Gleyber Torres an expensive qualifying offer to keep one of their most productive hitters in town, and gave top prospect Kevin McGonigle $150 million to lock down his prime years. And most importantly, they didn't trade Tarik Skubal.
Skubal won his second consecutive Cy Young Award in 2025, cementing his place as arguably the best pitcher in baseball. He's also set to reach free agency after the 2026 season, and, pre-injury, was widely expected to break records for the largest contract for a pitcher in the sport's history. That makes an extension from Detroit a near-impossibility.
A championship run would make losing Skubal in free agency worth it, however. But as the season reaches June, the Tigers have fallen off a cliff. Skubal's been out since early May with an elbow injury. Detroit's position player group, after an outstanding 2025 season, has been the third worst offense and defense in baseball in 2026, per FanGraphs. Their starting pitching has been above average, but the bullpen, such a strength last season, has been awful. Even with Jansen, they're second in baseball with 14 blown saves and dead last with -4.36 win probability added. Cleveland, by contrast, ranks first with +3.87. Sure enough, the Guardians are 34-26 in first place, and the Tigers are 22-37 and in last place, 11.5 games back.

All the sudden, a Skubal trade suddenly becomes a lot more realistic. And a new report from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal says that not only is it realistic, it's getting more and more likely.
"It’s trending that way. Talking with people around the game, that is their feeling," Rosenthal said during Saturday's MLB on FOX pregame show. "The outlook right now is rather bleak, and honestly, it’s difficult to imagine them making up a 14-game under .500 deficit, getting back to .500, and then contending even in a weak American League. So the question becomes, ‘Will Skubal be healthy enough?’ It’s what we don’t know."
Skubal has been on an accelerated timeline after getting elbow surgery, with the hope being that he'll return to a big-league mound by mid-late June. If so, the Tigers will have roughly a month before the trade deadline for him to re-establish his trade value and make their decision. Rosenthal said teams will "line up" if that's the case.
"He’s going to throw again Monday and face hitters," Rosenthal said. He’s coming off the innovative NanoNeedle elbow surgery, and maybe he’s back in mid-June, maybe it’s late-June. As long as he is healthy again, teams are going to line up. And then the question becomes, are the Tigers willing? If the standings are that daunting, if the situation is that bleak, they’re going to have to listen."

Mark Feinsand from MLB.com spoke to several other executives around the league, most of whom believe Skubal will be dealt.
"I would think they try to move him at the Deadline if they are this far out of contention," one NL executive told Feinsand. "They know they are not going to sign him, so you have to do what’s best for the organization."
Already, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves have been mentioned as teams that would make a run. A wildcard possibility? The Milwaukee Brewers, who have an excellent farm system and a history of trading for players on expiring contracts.
Skubal, even as a pending free agent, would bring a substantial return. Few pitchers in baseball tilt the odds in a postseason game more, assuming he returns immediately at his old form. Big-market teams could be more aggressive, thinking they could make a run at an extension before he reaches free agency. Regardless, it's not every day you can acquire the best pitcher in baseball with a reasonable expectation of him helping win playoff games. As team spending has repeatedly shown, there's a premium placed on outsized performance. Skubal fits that mold perfectly. And based on these reports, he might be fitting on another team in a matter of weeks.

Haley and Hanna Cavinder returned to Miami this weekend for some of the Swim Week events taking place there. Is there a better place for the former college basketball players turned influencers to discuss their matching boob jobs?
I can’t think of any and apparently neither can the Cavinder Twins. So when People came to them during the Sports Illustrated Swim Beach Club Party on Friday with boob-job-related questions, they had answers for the outlet.
They were open about the procedures when they decided to go under the knife last summer and that was by design. They’re trying to put out positivity through their additions in hopes that they get positivity in return. Boob jobs with a purpose, if you will.

"Going through a recovery from a boob job with my twin makes me want to go through a pregnancy with her, too, because we keep each other company," Haley said.

Their return to Miami Swim Week wasn’t all boob talk and parties. The sisters were there to be a part of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show too. A chance to hang out with other influencers, models and WAGs at the top of their game.
It was during this that they added a bikini "triplet" to the mix. The Cavinders announced on TikTok before hitting the runway, as people do nowadays, that a bikini-clad Jena Sims was now their third wheel. An honor, I'm sure.

Hollywood actor blasts airplane mode as 'nonsense' in hilarious podcast flight rant
Actor Paul Rudd sparked a lighthearted debate about airline etiquette after calling airplane mode "nonsense" during a recent podcast appearance.
Rudd made the comments during an appearance on the May 28 episode of Jake Shane’s podcast, "Therapuss."
During a conversation about common airline rules, Rudd questioned several instructions passengers are routinely given before takeoff and landing, including putting tray tables away, returning seats to the upright position and switching phones to airplane mode.

"I think all of that is nonsense," Rudd said.
When Shane specifically asked about airplane mode, Rudd doubled down.
"I know it's nonsense," he said.
Shane replied, "I only put it on airplane mode because it's not going to work either way, so I might as well save the battery."

Rudd acknowledged that reasoning, but suggested he believes the rule stems from concerns about radio frequencies interfering with the plane's communications systems.
Rudd may have questioned the rule — but the Federal Aviation Administration is very clear. It requires passengers to place devices in airplane mode or disable cellular connections while flying.
Aviation experts say the setting helps prevent cellular signals from interfering with cockpit communications and pilots' headsets, as Fox News Digital previously reported.
The conversation also touched on another long-running travel debate: Should passengers stand up as soon as the plane lands?

Shane admitted he is among the passengers who get out of their seats once a flight arrives — a habit Rudd defended.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the behavior has divided travelers, with some people citing leg cramps and tight connections, while others view it as impatient or inconsiderate toward others.

"For safety reasons, it’s best to remain seated unless there is room to comfortably move about," Diane Gottsman, a national etiquette expert based in Texas, told Fox News Digital.
"Moving into the aisle and trying to push is a definite etiquette faux pas," she added.

Beyond the discussion about airline etiquette, Rudd also shared one of his favorite memories with wife Julie Yaeger during the podcast.
The actor recalled a spontaneous trip to Atlantic City while Yaeger was pregnant, which unexpectedly turned into what he described as a perfect night.
The couple received a complimentary hotel suite, scored tickets to see the band Boston and won thousands of dollars playing video poker.
"It kept getting better and better and better," Rudd said.

Maple Leafs star Max Domi reportedly facing scary complications, mobility issues after surgery
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi recently underwent surgery, and now his NHL career has been put on pause.
On May 25, the Maple Leafs announced that Domi had undergone surgery "to address an issue he played through during the 2025-26 season." The team's official statement did not mention what type of procedure the 31-year-old had undergone, but did note that Domi would be out indefinitely "due to complications arising from the procedure."
Toronto announcing Domi will be out indefinitely in the middle of the team's offseason was odd, especially considering that Domi played in 80 games for the Leafs this past season.
While the Leafs have kept all details of Domi's surgery and the complications under wraps, a new report suggests the forward is facing a very serious uphill battle.
The Toronto Sun reported on Sunday that Domi underwent a procedure on his back and that in the days following the surgery, he could not walk.

The report also noted that Domi chose his own surgeon to do the operation and not the surgeon that the Leafs had in mind, but noted that is not an uncommon decision in today's professional sports world.
"Whatever happened here wasn’t deemed successful. Apparently, Domi could not walk in the days following surgery, which created significant alarm," Steve Simmons wrote. "His status remains in doubt for the coming season."
Domi has been a staple in the Toronto lineup since joining the team as a free agent ahead of the 2023 season on a one-year contract before signing a new multi-year deal, playing in at least 74 games in each of his three seasons with the Maple Leafs.
The former first-round pick of the Arizona Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Draft, Domi scored 12 goals and posted 36 points in his 80 games played this past season.
Domi, a Winnipeg, Manitoba native, notched a career-high 72 points during the 2018-19 NHL season with the Montreal Canadiens.

"They're trying to change the tape in people's minds about who she is... that's why she's sort of changing her tune a little bit about her reaction in real time," LaRosa said. "She wants to say, 'Oh no, my reaction was just as concerning and was just as severe as everyone at home. I was shocked.'"

He said Jill was "the face and the voice of the initial reaction for the country," and that if she had reacted at the time with the sentiments she later shared with CBS, "it would have been a more human response."
"You did such a great job, you answered every question, you knew all the facts," she said to then-President Biden in front of a crowd of cheering supporters following the debate in June 2024.
"I don't know what happened. I mean, as I watched it, I thought, 'Oh my God, he's having a stroke.' And it scared me to death," she told CBS Sunday Morning in an interview that aired last week.
Republicans pointed to Biden's debate performance as evidence that he had declined too much to continue as the nation’s commander in chief, while Democrats maintained that the debate was an outlier — a momentary lapse.
Even as Jill Biden’s comments seemed to continue to make that case almost two years later, Alex Thompson, an Axios reporter, shed doubt on her characterization.
"Biden aides told Jake Tapper and me that they had seen him act that way before and after. Those moments became more difficult to predict and conceal," Thompson said, referring to comments gathered during the writing of "Original Sin," a book covering President Biden’s time in office.
