Scandal-plagued 'Squad' rep cruises to Democratic nomination with no GOP roadblocks in view
Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., is officially the Democratic nominee for Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District after facing no challengers in Tuesday's primary.
But despite controversies involving Pressley's personal finances, her husband and racially charged remarks she's made, the "Squad member" will face no Republican candidate in the November general election.
Pressley's district encompasses roughly three-quarters of Boston, and the Cook Political Report ranks it as Solid Democrat. She was first elected to office in 2018, alongside Squad members Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
Although Pressley faced no competition in the primary or general election, she joined other Democratic candidates on the campaign trail, including state Rep. Tram Nguyen, a Democratic candidate for District 6. Like Pressley, Nguyen is calling to abolish ICE, implement Medicare for all and end all military aid to Israel.

Pressley also joined Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., on the campaign trail.
With no challengers from either political party, Pressley continued criticizing President Donald Trump and the conservative-majority Supreme Court this election cycle.
Following the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, which held that creating a second majority-Black district constituted unconstitutional racial gerrymandering, Pressley accused the Trump administration of being "anti-Black" and "that would rather Black Americans pick cotton than pick the president, than pick their congressperson, than pick a senator."

A week before the primary, Pressley spoke at a campaign rally for Markey in which she said White supremacy is thriving under Trump's presidency.
"It is bigger than Trump," Pressley said. "Because whenever we do the work of ousting the occupant of the Oval Office, the Confederacy is still alive and well," Pressley said. "That’s all MAGA is. White supremacy is still alive and well. Anti-Blackness will still be alive and well."

When introducing a bill in April aimed at providing relief to people facing eviction, Pressley called evictions "an act of violence."
However, critics pointed to Pressley's 2024 financial disclosure, which showed that she and her husband reported $8 million in assets from four Massachusetts rental properties.
In July, Pressley's husband, Conan Harris, also faced scrutiny after a company he partners with secured a $2 billion contract from the state to build a new courthouse in Massachusetts. John Barros, a key partner in CoJo Real Estate, divested from the company because of ethics concerns over how the contract was awarded.

Losing bidders for the project are now suing and pointing to Barros' departure from the company as evidence of wrongdoing.
However, Pressley is not accused of wrongdoing in the suit.

On Sept. 1, Paramount+ released the minute-long clip on social media platforms with the caption, "The king returns, but how long will he reign?"
Stallone stars as Dwight Manfredi, a New York mobster who builds a criminal empire in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after serving 25 years in prison. The teaser opens with Dwight being targeted by someone posing as a police officer.
While tensions rise with Bill Bevilaqua and Quiet Ray, Tyson appears to get in over his head, and Mitch and Spencer grow closer.

More than 180 Jewish entertainers rally behind actor Mark Ruffalo in protest letter
More than 180 Jewish entertainers and artists signed a letter Tuesday "proudly" voicing support for actor Mark Ruffalo after he was accused of antisemitism in his opposition to the proposed Warner Bros. Discovery-Paramount merger.
"We are Jewish artists, writers, creative professionals, faith leaders and thinkers who have, in response to the outrageous smear campaign against our respected colleague Mark Ruffalo, a simple message to share with the world: Enough!" the letter read, according to Variety.
"Enough with the false and dangerous weaponization of charges of antisemitism against those who are brave enough to point out the obvious: that the assault on the Palestinian people and the assault on our liberties at home are deeply interconnected, and there is nothing antisemitic about recognizing that fact."
Ruffalo was previously accused of invoking "antisemitic tropes" by Paramount after the Marvel star shared a video from August of Safra Catz, an Oracle executive vice chair and Paramount board member, discussing technology Oracle used to assist Israel after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.

He linked Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, the father of Paramount CEO David Ellison, to financing behind the proposed acquisition and suggested the merger would be used to push "oppression."
"These ‘really profoundly scary technologies’ will most likely be merged into one of the largest media conglomerates in the world and one day used on you," Ruffalo said. "Look how she revels in what we now have come to see as a genocide, which was built on an apartheid system of oppression powered by Oracle."
The Jewish artists, who include Abbi Jacobson, Alex Winter, Gina Gershon, Ilana Glazer, James Schamus, Joel Coen, Larry Charles, Kate Berlant, Naomi Klein, Sarah Sherman, Jane Schoenbrun, Todd Haynes and Tony Kushner, denied this comment was antisemitic, claiming executives "themselves have explicitly linked to their support for the ongoing depredations being visited on the people of Palestine and their silencing of critics of those horrors."
"The AI road to WarnerMount runs through Gaza, and Ellison has often let us know the Orwellian world he has in store for us as he consolidates control over what we watch and how we watch it, knowing that as we watch he and his corrupt cohort will always be watching us," the letter read.

The celebrities also argued that a majority of American Jews now believe that Israel committed war crimes against Gaza, with a significant portion believing Israel is guilty of genocide. They called for an end to "spurious charges of antisemitism" against people like Ruffalo.
"Pointing out the crucial connections between what is happening in Gaza and what is happening in Hollywood is the exact opposite of antisemitism. It is, for us, the very essence of Jewish ethical duty," the letter read.
Fox News Digital reached out to Ruffalo's representatives for comment.
Ruffalo previously denied pushing antisemitism in a statement to Fox News Digital after Paramount's original condemnation.

"The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest," Ruffalo said. "Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people."
Ruffalo continued to receive backlash after a group of nearly 1,000 industry insiders, calling itself The Brigade, released a statement condemning the actor last week.
"This is not commentary on a merger. It is not a criticism of a government. It is simple antisemitism, where Jewish executives are portrayed as a secretive and powerful wealth-hoarding elite delighting in mass death," the statement read.
Elizabeth Barcohana, the California Republican Party’s Jewish engagement chair, told Fox News Digital Thursday that Ruffalo’s prominence in the opposition to the merger reflected Hollywood’s liberal political activism, while praising The Brigade for challenging him.
"Ruffalo as an anti-merger spokesman is an odd choice given his extremist rhetoric that has completely discredited him with rational people," Barcohana said.
"He is an activist more than an actor (indeed maybe that’s one in the same). I applaud The Brigade for organizing an oppositional force against the explosion of antisemitism within Hollywood and standing up to Ruffalo’s Israel Derangement Syndrome."

College sports have taken some strange turns in recent years, but they may have reached a new level of absurdity with professional football players attempting to return to the college ranks.
This is still being worked out in courts as players battle for a fifth year of college eligibility.
But one person who is definitely not on their side is Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard.
According to CBS Sports, none of the Colts' players are among those trying to go all Rodney Dangerfield and head back to school. But if they did, they may want to reconsider, because they won't be getting any support from him on the matter.
"No," Ballard said after being asked if any players had talked to him about moving back to the collegiate ranks. "It's the stupidest s--- I've ever heard. I'm sorry. I know I'll catch crap for this. Your entire life, you fight to get up to the NFL, but now we're gonna go back. OK, that makes a lot of freaking sense."

This comes after LSU brought in some players who had previously played for head coach Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. The players in question had been signed to NFL teams before attempting to resume their college careers.
The SEC and the Big Ten have both put rules in place banning players who have appeared on professional rosters from returning to college.
However, a hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Baton Rouge that will take a look at the SEC's ban on former professionals.
DOJ lawsuit targets alleged school ‘secret gender transitions’ policies that keep parents in the dark
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating other school districts and contemplating additional lawsuits over alleged violations of federal parental rights laws, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon told Fox News Digital Tuesday, calling the DOJ's newly filed "first-of-its-kind" case against Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools the "first of many."
The DOJ sued Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) Tuesday, alleging the district violated the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) with a district policy that facilitates "secret gender transitions" for students at school without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
"No, we're not waiting. What we do is we ask for documents, we investigate and then we try to resolve cases with school districts. And if we cannot, then we file lawsuits. And, so, there are many other lawsuits contemplated here and other investigations that are ongoing," Dhillon said when asked whether DOJ would wait for the Kansas case to conclude before pursuing other districts.
Dhillon declined to identify the other districts under investigation, saying she did not want to prejudge the outcomes.
"This is a really important lawsuit for us. And the point I wanted to emphasize is that it's the first of many," she said.
The DOJ lawsuit against KCKPS centers on internal guidance for transgender and gender non-conforming students. The DOJ alleges the district has used versions of the guidance since 2017.
Under the guidance described in the complaint, students can ask that their parents be excluded from school planning meetings and that their transgender or gender non-conforming status not be disclosed to their parents. The resulting written plans can address names, pronouns, school records, restroom and locker room use, sports and other accommodations.
Asked about KCKPS’ assertion that it complies with federal law, Dhillon rejected the district’s position.

"Well, I think you can get that from the complaint, but they had secret gender transition plans that locked parents out of knowing what was being asked of their children. So, I obviously completely reject that," Dhillon said.
KCKPS disputed DOJ’s allegations Tuesday in a news release.
"Contrary to the allegations in the complaint, the district maintains that it is in full compliance with FERPA and PPRA and is disappointed by the DOJ’s decision to file the lawsuit," the release read.
The district said it would respond through the federal court process and would not comment further while the litigation is pending.
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION THREATENS KANAS SCHOOL DISTRICT FUNDING OVER TRANSGEDNER STUDENT POLICY
The DOJ argues the written plans constitute education records under FERPA and that excluding parents can prevent them from exercising their rights to inspect and challenge those records.
The government separately alleges the district violates PPRA by allowing students to participate in meetings and evaluations that can reveal sensitive information without prior written parental consent.
The Department of Education opened a FERPA investigation into KCKPS in August 2025.
The federal government advised the district Aug. 12 that its guidance violated FERPA and PPRA, and the complaint states the government ultimately determined KCKPS would not voluntarily comply.
The DOJ is asking a federal court to declare the district’s practices unlawful and prohibit enforcement of the guidance or similar policies that violate FERPA or PPRA.
Dhillon said the DOJ intends to pursue potential violations elsewhere.
"But I want there to be a very clear message to every school district in the United States. They are on notice that if they violate FERPA and PPRA, the United States Department of Justice stands ready to protect the rights of parents and the rights to pupils to privacy, dignity and parental rights in determining how children are educated in the United States," Dhillon said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas referred questions about the lawsuit to the DOJ’s Office of Public Affairs.
Former Florida governor hopeful hauled out of county meeting after protesting Israel investments
James Fischback, a former Florida gubernatorial candidate and controversial political figure, was forcibly removed from a Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners meeting Tuesday afternoon after protesting the county's expanded investment in Israel-backed bonds.
"Do you serve the people of Hialeah or of Haifa? Do you serve the people of Aventura or of Tel Aviv? Do you serve the people of South Miami or of Jerusalem? This money should be invested here in this community. It should be invested in Miami-Dade County," he added before officers escorted him from the room.
The confrontation comes after the county voted earlier this summer to raise its investment cap with Israel from 3% to 5% of its portfolio — a move that allows it invest upwards of about $400 million to $450 million. The change has drawn opposition from figures like Fischback critical of using public funds to invest in Israel as the war in Gaza continues to fuel political divisions in the U.S. It has also provided Fischback a platform to continue his opposition to U.S.-Israel ties.

"What this is about, very simply, is whom do you serve?" Fischback said.
Fischback, a Republican, has garnered national attention for his views on race and has developed a reputation for confrontational public appearances.
Fischback was among the 11 GOP candidates seeking to replace outgoing Gov. Ron DeSantis. He garnered 10.4% of the vote in the Aug. 18 primary but drew national attention for a series of inflammatory on-camera moments.
In one such case, he repeatedly called Rep. Byron Donalds, the frontrunner, eventual nominee and one of the only Black Republicans in Congress, a "slave" repeatedly at a news conference.
"Byron Donalds is a slave. I’m sorry, he’s a slave. He is a slave to his donors. He is a slave to the corporate interests, to the tech bros that want to turn our state into, in his own words, a financial capital," Fischback said.
He would later shout a similar phrase at Donalds directly, catching Donalds on the way back to his car with a megaphone and a throng of supporters.
"You’re a DEI hire. You’re a slave. Go back to New York," Fischback yelled.

Fischback's comments on Tuesday weren't the only ones that expressed outrage over the portfolio change.
Other members of the public who expressed concern about the change voiced disappointment that the county would put public investment dollars behind Israel, given the politically charged atmosphere around the topic of its relations with the U.S.
Another woman who identified herself as Ivar Fandel walked to the podium wearing a "let Gaza live" shirt.
"Item 5B does exist in the context of a budget crisis as well as a genocide against Palestinians in Gaza at the hands of Israel," Fandel said, referring to the agenda item discussing the county's change.
During his campaign, Fischback positioned himself as one of the only Republican candidates to decline contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). He also pledged to divest from Israel-backed bonds.
"Florida has a specific policy. You’re not allowed to use taxpayer funds to buy foreign government bonds, with one exception: Israel. And so my premise is, first principles, we should not be lending taxpayer pensioner money to any foreign government," Fischback said in an interview with the American Conservative.
He also blasted several candidates, including Donalds, for what he characterized as "singular allegiance" to Israel.

"I think people like Randy Fine and other AIPAC politicians have a singular allegiance. And that allegiance is to the best interests of Israel. The idea of saying ‘I am running to represent a foreign country’s interest in the United States Congress’ is preposterous. They’re buying allegiance," Fischback said in a post to X.
Fischback did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
WWE Crown Jewel set for November as company rounds out 2026 calendar
WWE announced Tuesday that Crown Jewel was back on the premium live event calendar.
Crown Jewel will take place on Nov. 7 at Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD, furthering the partnership between WWE and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. Before the announcement, it was unclear whether Crown Jewel would take place in 2026.

It will be the second time in the event’s history that it is held in Saudi Arabia. The first one in 2024 took place there, while the second one was held in Perth, Australia, last year.
Crown Jewel is one of the more unique premium live events of the year. It will feature the men’s and women’s champions of the Raw and SmackDown brands going up against each other, respectively, for the Crown Jewel Championship and the Crown Jewel ring.

Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther and Seth Rollins beat Rhodes on the men’s side in the last two years. Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax in 2024 and Stephanie Vaquer took care of Tiffany Stratton last year on the women’s side.
Plans could very well change for this year’s show but if the event were to begin tomorrow Roman Reigns would battle CM Punk in a WrestleMania 42 rematch for the men and Liv Morgan would take on Chelsea Green for the women. It’s definitely a long way to go for these champions to keep their titles going into Crown Jewel, but not impossible.
Punk is facing challenges from four members of SmackDown – Rhodes, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Randy Orton, and could very well lose the belt at any time. Reigns has a matchup with Penta in Mexico City later this month to defend his title, but LA Knight is also nipping at his heels to get a shot at the championship.
Morgan has come under fire from fellow wrestlers for not being a fighting champion. However, she defeated Iyo Sky at SummerSlam. She has Vaquer and Becky Lynch gunning for her gold as well. Green has been injured as of late and might have to take care of Jax to get through to the next chapter of her reign.
WWE now has Sunday Night's Main Event, Money in the Bank, Crown Jewel, Survivor Series: WarGames and Wrestlepalooza: Perth on the calendar for the latter part of the year.
Ed Sheeran concert workers hospitalized after forklift incident in Detroit: report
Six people were injured Saturday during the load-out process after Ed Sheeran's concert at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Detroit Fire Department responded to a "forklift injury accident" at the stadium around 11 p.m., according to Click On Detroit.
Six workers were then transported to a local hospital.
Several workers said they were headed on a break during their shift when the equipment "lost control" and hit "several of them" as the stage was being torn down near a vehicle tunnel, the outlet reported.

One crew member was released from a hospital Sunday after an overnight stay. Another crew member who was hit in the chest told the outlet he'd "never experienced anything like that" and that everything "happened in a split second."

Of the individuals transported to hospitals, no injuries appeared to be life-threatening. During transportation, the outlet reported, two patients were in serious condition while the other four were in stable condition.

Additionally, the venue claimed one of those injured was an employee at Ford Field.
"Ford Field has begun a full review and is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and with the event’s production partners," the stadium told the outlet. "Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause. We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response."

Rosie O’Donnell rants that Trump-era ICE facilities are concentration camps where inmates are raped
Actress Rosie O’Donnell compared ICE facilities to concentration camps in Nazi Germany in a video she posted on TikTok Friday.
In a TikTok titled, "Friday Ramble," O'Donnell discussed a variety of topics, including the recent death of country music legend Dolly Parton, before launching into criticism of the Trump administration.
"We all vowed ‘Never Again,’ remember?" she said in the TikTok video, referencing the Holocaust. She noted that people even today are shocked at how Germans allowed fascism to take over before claiming fascism is in full swing in the United States.
"We’re making concentration camps. … We’re rounding up people without a warrant. We’re raping children in detention, in ICE detention. They’re all getting pregnant," she said. "And they’re separated, males and females. Who has access to those girls? What happens to their babies? What do they do with them? There are big questions."

The fierce anti-Trump critic then launched into an attack on the president, saying his supporters were in denial.

"White powerful men, where women are disregarded in that equation usually. It’s the White men, it’s patriarchy running the world and it’s deadly.
"We need people like Dolly Parton to run the world," she suggested. "People with a heart."
O'Donnell has a long history of condemning Trump and his administration.

In July 2025, she made similar comparisons between ICE and Nazi Germany, saying, "I think Americans should stand up and say, ‘No way. You’re not going to silence us. We, the people, have the right to speak up against atrocities which are happening on a daily basis.’ ICE, his own personal Gestapo — what will it take, America? What will it take?" she asked.
"He’s gonna arrest every artist that disagrees with him, and pretty much every artist does. Whether or not they’re brave enough to say it is another thing."
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis called O'Donnell's comments "gross" in a statement to Fox News Digital, providing a list of arrests made by ICE yesterday of illegal aliens accused of violent crimes like strangulation, battery and child molestation.

O'Donnell recently wrapped up guest-hosting fellow Trump critic Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show, where she called Trump, "orange Voldemort."
Media analyst and Fox News contributor Joe Concha said O'Donnell's rants are evidence of "severe Trump Derangement Syndrome."
"It shows that there is a disturbing segment of the population who are no different from Rosie: STDS sufferers… Severe. Trump. Derangement. Syndrome," Concha told Fox News Digital. "And their lives revolve around hating the president. So there is an audience for this stuff, albeit a deranged audience. It just shows you how much Kimmel is suffering from STDS by selecting a deranged Rosie to host in his place. Why not get Sebastian Maniscalco? Dave Chappelle? People who actually make people laugh? Calling all Angels fans: The Arte Moreno era is officially over. After two decades of blown leads, wasted talent, and front-office chaos, Moreno has finally done what Halos fans have begged him to do for years:
Arte finally agreed to sell the team.
Billionaire Stan Kroenke, owner of the Rams, Nuggets and Avalanche, swooped in Tuesday to rescue the Angels from baseball’s purgatory. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is buying the franchise for $4 billion — making it the most expensive sale in Major League Baseball history.
"The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market," Kroenke announced in a statement.
"We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization."
The price tag eclipses the Padres’ $3.9 billion record and crushes Steve Cohen’s $2.4 billion purchase of the Mets.
Across American sports, it matches Mat Ishbia’s $4 billion Phoenix Suns takeover, trailing only the Denver Broncos ($4.65 billion) and Washington Commanders ($6.05 billion).
Moreno bought the club in 2003 for $184 million, right after its lone World Series title. He released a statement on the sale:
"The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years, and we believe with KSE’s experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise.
"The Angels organization looks forward to continuing its commitment to the fans, our employees, the players and our business partners."

Hours before first pitch against the Yankees, fans gathered to celebrate Arte’s exit, like they’d just won a World Series.
The Angels enter a new era under Kroenke, whose championship empire spans the Super Bowl-winning Rams, NBA champion Nuggets and Stanley Cup champion Avalanche.
The deal won't officially close until early 2027, pending MLB approval, but the Moreno era is finished.
