Savannah Guthrie's mother Nancy possibly abducted from her home, authorities say
TUCSON, Ariz. – Authorities in Arizona have revealed that the mother of NBC "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie was possibly kidnapped from her home as investigators continue to search for the missing 84-year-old woman.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday evening at her residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue, north of Tucson, around 9:30 p.m., according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
"Sheriff [Chris] Nanos has stated that he believes that a crime has been committed," a spokesperson for Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital. "At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction."

A relative of Guthrie’s contacted authorities around noon on Sunday to report her missing after she did not show up for church, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.
"We’re pretty much just throwing everything at this that we can. Guthrie is 84 years old and is not of good physical health, and so naturally that’s a great concern," Nanos told reporters later Sunday, adding that the scene at the house raised "some concerns for us as well."
"This is very concerning to us. We don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house," Nanos said. "And so we’ll just continue. The detective’s homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well."
On Monday, Nanos told reporters that investigators found a crime scene at Nancy Guthrie’s house and that she did not leave on her own.
"We believe now, after we processed that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene that we do, in fact, have a crime," Nanos said. "She did not leave on her own. We know that."
While authorities initially launched a search-and-rescue mission for Nancy Guthrie, Nanos added that it has been shut down, saying, "We don't see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene."
Nanos also revealed that Nancy has physical ailments that limit her mobility, but is of "good sound mind" and requires medication that could be fatal if not taken within 24 hours, according to NBC News.
In a statement released to NBC’s "Today," Savannah Guthrie thanked investigators while calling for the public’s help in finding her mother.
"On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom," the statement said.
"We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff's department at: 520-351-4900," it continued.
Virginia man Brendan Banfield learns fate in twisted au pair affair double-murder
A Virginia jury has found former IRS law enforcement officer Brendan Banfield guilty of aggravated murder in the 2023 killings of his wife, Christina Banfield, and a second victim, Joseph Ryan, according to reports.
Banfield, 40, was convicted in Fairfax County of murdering his 37-year-old wife and Ryan, 38, a stranger prosecutors said he deliberately lured to the family’s Herndon home under false pretenses, the Associated Press reported.
The panel had got the case midday Jan. 30 and deliberated most of Monday.
The jury found Banfield guilty of using a firearm in the commission of the crimes and of child endangerment for leaving his then-4-year-old daughter unattended in the basement while the violence took place upstairs.
The verdict came after roughly nine hours of deliberation by a panel of seven women and five men.
Prosecutors said Banfield orchestrated an elaborate murder plot with the couple’s Brazilian au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, with whom he was having an affair.
Testimony showed the pair created fake accounts on a fetish website posing as Christina Banfield and used them to lure Ryan to the home for what he believed would be a consensual but violent sexual encounter.
Magalhães, 25, testified that Ryan arrived armed with a knife, as instructed online and began interacting with Christina, a pediatric intensive care nurse who had previously worked with sexual assault victims, unaware he was being set up.
Magalhães said she waited outside in a car before calling Banfield to falsely report an intruder, prompting his return to the house.
Once inside, prosecutors said Banfield shot Ryan with his service weapon to make it appear he was defending his wife, then fatally stabbed Christina multiple times in the neck to try and stage the scene and frame Ryan for her murder.
Magalhães testified she witnessed the stabbing and later helped call 911.
Banfield admitted on the stand that he shot Ryan but claimed it was self-defense, saying he walked in on Ryan attacking his wife.
His attorney argued Magalhães fabricated the plot to protect herself, pointing to her plea deal, which resulted in a sentence of time served.
Prosecutors countered that digital evidence, forensic findings and Magalhães’ testimony showed Banfield was motivated by wanting to be with the au pair and avoid divorce.
"He was in love with Juliana," prosecutor Jenna Sands told jurors. "He needed to get rid of his wife so they could be together."
In closing arguments, Sands also told the jury they did not have to rely only on Magalhães’ testimony and pointed to what she called a "plethora of evidence."
That included expert testimony that blood stains on Ryan’s hands suggested Christine Banfield’s blood had been dripped onto him from above.
Banfield faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 8. Magalhães was set to be sentenced after Banfield’s trial.

In a statement shared with Fox News Digital, Shannon Swiderski Hamrick, the mother of Skylar Provenza, 19, described waking up overwhelmed by grief just minutes before returning to work.
"Today I woke up feeling it. It’s Monday. I’m supposed to go back to work in six minutes," Hamrick said. "I’ve prayed, I’ve cried, I’m angry, I’m sad. It’s not fair."
Hamrick said she tried to stay away from the news and the political debate surrounding the case, insisting her daughter’s death was not about politics but about a deadly and preventable decision.

But she said watching the Grammy Awards pushed her to break her silence, leaving her overwhelmed as celebrities used their platforms to promote political messages and what she viewed as a culture that excuses reckless behavior.
"I watched the Grammys last night — I shouldn’t have," Hamrick said. "Some of my favorite artists used their voices to advocate for something they probably haven’t personally been affected by. Instead, they promoted drinking and pretty much promoted being above the law."

She accused Hollywood elites of being insulated from the real-world consequences families like hers now live with and questioned whether those speaking out have ever experienced the kind of loss she now carries.
"It’s sickening!" Hamrick said. "Honestly have any one of those wealthy artists that are advocating against ICE been personally affected in any way? Try fighting that anger!"
"I’m sure most of these wealthy people with ‘voices’ had drivers to wherever they were going," she said. "They weren’t home grieving the loss of their daughter and our future son-in-law."
Provenza and her boyfriend, Fletcher Harris, 20, a standout college soccer player at Catawba College, were killed just after 11 p.m. on Jan. 16 in Rowan County, North Carolina, when prosecutors say a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Juan Alvarado Aguilar, 37, crossed the center line and slammed head-on into their vehicle.

Authorities allege Aguilar was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Investigators said officers noted a strong odor of alcohol and that Aguilar appeared unsteady on his feet when he was arrested. Both Provenza and Harris were pronounced dead at the scene.
Court records reviewed by Fox News Digital show Aguilar had a prior driving-while-impaired charge from 2020 that was dismissed by a district attorney, along with two prior failures to appear. Authorities say Aguilar is an illegal immigrant, and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer has been placed on him. He now faces two counts of felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired and other charges, and is being held on a bond of more than $5 million.
As family and friends gathered to mourn the young couple, Republican lawmakers said the tragedy never should have happened.
"Fletcher Harris and Skylar Provenza — two bright young lives full of promise — were brutally taken in a head-on crash allegedly caused by an illegal alien with a prior DUI who never should have been on our roads," Rep. Mark Harris, R-N.C., previously told Fox News Digital. "Where’s the outrage? If this were any other tragedy, the streets would be filled."
North Carolina House Speaker Destin Hall also blamed what he described as failures in federal immigration enforcement.
"I think it’s a failure of policy," Hall said, arguing that illegal immigrants accused of serious crimes are too often not taken into custody. He emphasized that lawmakers are fighting to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
For Hamrick, the focus remains on accountability, faith and decency and on honoring the life her daughter lived.
"I’m an American citizen living my life right," she said. "My child got stolen from me, and we don’t even have support from our people — people who could make a difference."
"Just be decent humans," Hamrick added. "Make better choices."
Good Samaritan hijacks crooks’ getaway car and rams it into jewelry store during smash-and-grab: police
Police in Northern California are searching for four armed suspects after a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store – an incident that took a dramatic turn when a bystander jumped into the suspects’ getaway car and rammed it into the storefront in an effort to stop the crime.
Petaluma police say six suspects stormed Gold Rush Jewelers Saturday afternoon armed with hammers, pepper spray and a firearm, smashing display cases and stealing jewelry while one suspect held employees at gunpoint.
As the robbery unfolded, an uninvolved bystander noticed the suspects’ vehicle left running outside the store. Police say the bystander got into the car and drove it into the front of the business, forcing the suspects to flee.
"I was just being a nice citizen to the people who own this jewelry store," the bystander told ABC7/KGO, saying he saw masked suspects rush inside and realized the car had been left unattended.

The move triggered a chaotic escape. Police say one suspect pepper sprayed the bystander before fleeing the area. The bystander told KGO he was temporarily blinded during the confrontation.
"They were pissed," he told the outlet. "One of them jumped over the car and sprayed me with mace. After that I couldn’t see nothing."
According to police, four suspects escaped, while two were apprehended following a search involving a sheriff’s helicopter and K9 units. Authorities say the remaining suspects are not believed to still be in the immediate area.

The suspects’ vehicle was later found abandoned and had been reported stolen, police said. The firearm used in the robbery has not been recovered.
Police identified the two suspects taken into custody as 18-year-olds William Butler Clarence of Pittsburgh and Moshae Koron Howell of Antioch. Both were booked into the Sonoma County jail on multiple felony charges, including robbery, burglary and assault with a firearm.
Store employees were shaken but not physically injured, police said.

Community members who spoke with KGO described the robbery as shocking, with some calling the bystander’s actions brave, though risky.
"That’s wild," one witness told the outlet. "Very brave of them. Maybe not the best idea."
Police have not said whether the bystander’s actions will face scrutiny.
Authorities are asking anyone with information or video related to the robbery to contact Petaluma police.

"Sam’s in a great groove right now, and I would give the edge to Sam and the Seahawks for sure," he told Fox News Digital, while recapping his vacation in Aruba on behalf of the Aruba Tourism Authority.
Darnold has only played two playoff games given the Seahawks’ No. 1-seed status in the NFC. He didn’t have to do much against the San Francisco 49ers, as Kenneth Walker III scored three touchdowns and rushed for over 100 yards. Still, Darnold was able to complete 70% of his passes for 124 yards with a touchdown pass and a 110.9 quarterback rating.
But his best game this season came at the perfect time in the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams, his NFC West rival. He matched Matthew Stafford’s three touchdown passes, while outdoing him in passing yards (346) in a fantastic performance to help his team to the Super Bowl.

Darnold and the Seahawks are on a roll, and very clearly have the right momentum going into this contest. However, Fitzpatrick believes this is also a time that works perfectly for the Patriots and Maye, who has struggled in his first three playoff games of his career.
The defense has been the bright spot looking back at these playoffs, but Maye is also an MVP candidate because of how consistent and efficient he was all season. Fitzpatrick believes he can get back to that for this matchup.
"I think with Drake Maye with this off-week, or bye week, is going to be good for him because he has struggled a little bit in the playoffs," he explained. "He was so consistent and efficient in the regular season. We’ve had the fumbles, it hasn’t been the same efficiency that there was in the season.
"For him to take a week and take a deep breath and realize, even though he hasn’t played his best the last three weeks, they’re in the Super Bowl. All he has to do is play his best game on Super Bowl Sunday, and they’re going to be just fine. It’s been nice for him to have a little bit of a reset."

"I’d love to see some fireworks. I know we’re not going to have snow, so we’re not going to get the 10-7 game, hopefully. But I would love to see this be a little bit of a shootout," he said.

After a long football season, Fitzpatrick and his wife, Liza, visited Aruba for some well-earned relaxation to reset and recharge before the Super Bowl.

It has the white-sand beaches, it has the resort, which is great. But it also has the adventure. I’m not a guy that likes to just sit on the beach and get the tan all day long. There was hiking, we were swimming in a natural pool, we went and searched some caves a little bit.
"The great thing for my wife and I, right away you feel relaxed. Then, we come home and there is this air of happiness and rejuvenation that we’re feeling. It stayed with us."

The 68th Grammy Awards featured surprise moments, shocking wins and history-making performances — but the wild night kicked off on the red carpet with some eye-catching fashion choices.
Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo, who hosts "Arroyo Grande with Raymond Arroyo," described the Grammys as a "spectacle of nudity, combined with a clown aesthetic," noting that it "makes one wonder if these artists considered how this might overwhelm — and indeed — drown out the music they were there to perform and celebrate in the first place?"
Arroyo said the fashion choices for Sunday's show "covered all the genres, from stripper to exhibitionists."

The most talked about look of the night came from Grammy award-winning artist, Chappell Roan.
Roan put her figure on full display in the barely-there custom Mugler gown.

Her daring dress was inspired by Mugler’s "Jeu de Paume" spring/summer 1998 couture collection that featured a pierced-nipple gown.

Zara Larsson donned a crop top and maxi skirt set with her abs on display, while singer Doechii went sheer. The frock had a burnt orange lace-up top half and a purple skirt.

Sarah Ferguson’s crude remark about then-teenage Princess Eugenie revealed in newly unsealed Epstein emails
Sarah Ferguson is in the hot seat once again over her ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
An email where Ferguson made a crude comment about her then-19-year-old daughter surfaced in the latest batch of documents released by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ released more than 3 million Epstein records, including his personal emails, Friday.
In an email from March 2010, Epstein asked Ferguson about a trip to New York. Ferguson responded, "Not sure yet. Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!"
Princess Eugenie, who Ferguson shares with former Prince Andrew, was 19 years old at the time. Ferguson and Andrew also share a second daughter, Princess Beatrice. Fox News Digital reached out to a representative for Ferguson.
This isn't the first email scandal involving Ferguson and Epstein. Back in September, an email between the two was leaked.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of York – who divorced ex-Prince Andrew in 1996 – reached out to Epstein in 2011 after publicly denouncing their friendship during an interview with the Evening Standard.
During the interview, Ferguson expressed her "deep regret" and promised to "have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again," three years after he was imprisoned for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

In an alleged email to Epstein following the interview, Ferguson referred to the disgraced financier as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend."
"I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read, and I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that," Ferguson allegedly wrote.
"I was advised, in no uncertain terms, to have nothing to do with you and to not speak or email you and if I did I would cause more problems to you, [Prince Andrew] and myself," she continued. "I was instructed to act with the utmost speed if I would have any chance of holding on to my career as a children’s book author and a children’s philanthropist."

A representative for Ferguson claimed she had sent the email after Epstein had threatened to sue for defamation, according to the BBC. "This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats," the statement read.
Ferguson was dropped as a patron from multiple charities after the 2011 email became public in September.

New video obtained by Fox News Digital shows the surgeon accused of murdering his ex-wife and her dentist husband experiencing his first few moments inside a jail cell.
The footage shows 39-year-old Michael McKee as he is being booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center shortly after 4 p.m. on Jan. 20, following his arrest in Illinois and extradition to Ohio.
McKee can be seen wearing a light blue zip-up jacket and dark blue pants as he calmly walks through the booking area while seemingly handcuffed.
He is then subjected to a pat-down search before changing into his jail-issued slides. McKee then walks back through the booking area wearing a blue T-shirt and red shorts, looking unphased as he is taken into custody.
McKee is accused of gunning down his ex-wife, Monique Tempe, and her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, inside the couple’s Columbus, Ohio home between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Dec. 30.
McKee was arrested in Rockford, Illinois, on Jan. 10 and booked into the Winnebago County Jail before being extradited to Columbus, Ohio.

In an arraignment hearing, McKee pleaded not guilty to four charges of premeditated aggravated murder with firearm specifications and aggravated burglary. Three aggravated murder charges include specifications alleging McKee used or displayed an automatic firearm or silencer, and the fourth alleged that a gun was displayed or brandished.
Charging documents reveal investigators were able to identify McKee as a suspect after linking him to a vehicle that arrived in the Tepes' neighborhood shortly before the murders and left just after the homicides. The car was then traced back to Rockford, Illinois, and McKee was identified as the owner.
Additionally, Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant previously told Fox News Digital that several weapons were taken from McKee's property, adding that a preliminary link was established for one of those guns to the murders.

The bodies of Spencer and Monique were discovered by a friend on Dec. 30 who stopped by after the couple did not respond to attempts to reach them.

"There's a body," the caller can be heard telling 911. "Our friend wasn't answering his phone. We just did a wellness check. We just came here, and he appears dead. He's lying next to his bed, off of his bed in this blood. I can't get closer to seeing more than that."
The couple’s two young children were found unharmed inside the home.
Monique and McKee married on Aug. 22, 2015 and were married for seven months before filing for divorce, according to court records. At the time, McKee was completing his residency at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic when Monique filed for divorce, writing that the two were "incompatible."

Popular left-wing podcast hosts push conspiracy theory that Trump staged assassination attempt on himself
Co-hosts of the "I’ve Had It" podcast on Saturday agreed in their belief that the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, was staged.
Thomas Crooks opened fire at a Trump rally last year, firing eight shots, killing a man, critically wounding two others and grazing the president’s ear, according to authorities. Crooks, 20, killed a 50-year-old father of two named Corey Comperatore and sent David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, to the hospital with gunshot wounds. It was one of the most dramatic moments of the 2024 Trump campaign, with Trump ducking for cover with blood visible on the side of his face, as he got back up and yelled "Fight! Fight! Fight!," with a defiant fist in the air.
Jennifer Welch, who famously laughed as she saw a left-wing activist take joy in TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk’s death, spoke about the Butler, PA assassination attempt with co-host Angie "Pumps" Sullivan. Welch argued that the goodwill Trump earned from that moment has not only worn itself out, but that the whole affair was likely staged.

"Obviously, a lot of people are late to the party on this. A lot of people during the last presidential campaign got intoxicated by Trump's campaign. They got intoxicated by the ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’ photo, which I'm now going to go on the permanent record. I think he totally staged the assassination," Welch said.
"I do too," Pumps replied.
"I've watched it. I think he staged it. They lowered the flag. They let the press go in. I think he staged the whole thing," Welch continued. "That's just my opinion. Maybe I'm going BlueAnon. I don't care. F--- it. We're in the middle of Trump's 2.0."
BlueAnon is a catchphrase that parodies the QAnon genre of conspiracy theories, and is used to describe liberals embracing similarly outlandish conspiracy theories about Republicans.
She went on to criticize podcast host and comedian Andrew Schulz as one of the many male-oriented podcasters who have only recently begun to criticize Trump.

"But a lot of people like Andrew Schulz fell for all that crap, and Donald Trump is a lot of these guys’ idealized form of masculinity, and they submit to him, they’re submissive to this man. They don’t stand on anything on their own," Welch said.
The host of the "I’ve Had It" podcast proceeded to play multiple clips of Schulz complaining that only a small number of the deportations were violent/sexual offenders, and that the Trump administration had failed to release the Epstein list.
"If you bring up another f------ pedophile about deporting, and you’re not releasing the Epstein list, just shut the f--- up all of you," he said. "I don’t want to hear anything else about ‘Oh we gotta deport the pedophiles!’ They’re right here! There are a list of them and you’re not exposing it."
A White House spokesperson said the Welch and Pumps are suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."
"’I’ve had it’ [with] hearing sick conspiracies from no-name liberal podcast hosts who clearly suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," the spokesperson said.
Fox News Digital also reached out to Schulz and did not receive an immediate reply.
Welch has become a significant voice in Democratic circles. She has been outspoken about her belief that Democrats need to be more aggressive in their fight against Trump and his supporters. She has also hosted numerous top Democrats on her podcast, like former President Barack Obama, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, and former Vice President Kamala Harris.

As the emphasis on implementing artificial intelligence across society grows, voters think the use of AI technology is happening too fast — and they have little confidence the federal government can regulate it properly.
The latest Fox News poll finds 6 in 10 registered voters feel the use of artificial intelligence is moving too quickly in the United States, while another 3 in 10 feels it’s progressing at the right pace. Just 6% say it’s moving too slowly.
Although most think the use of AI is going too fast, there are some differences along demographic lines: Women, White voters, those ages 65+, and Democrats are more likely to say things are moving too fast compared to men, nonwhite voters, those under age 30, and Republicans.

In addition, 63% lack faith in the federal government’s ability to properly regulate AI, a view that has been largely consistent since 2023. Thirty-six percent have a great deal or some confidence in the government’s ability.
The main demographic groups where more than half are confident in the government regulating AI include MAGA supporters (57%), Republican men (55%), and very conservatives (52%).

Despite all the hype, a slim majority of voters (53%) say artificial intelligence has not made much difference in their life, while the remaining half splits between saying AI has personally helped them (26%) vs. harmed them (20%).
Those most likely to feel artificial intelligence has helped them are subsets of men, including dads (46%) and men under age 45 (43%). Voters under age 30 also feel AI has more likely benefited them (45% helped, 28% harmed). Those most likely to feel harmed are nonwhite women (33%) and moms (29%).

Conducted January 23-26, 2026, under the direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News survey includes interviews with a sample of 1,005 registered voters randomly selected from a national voter file. Respondents spoke with live interviewers on landlines (106) and cellphones (645) or completed the survey online after receiving a text (254). Results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points. Sampling error for results among subgroups is higher.
