There has been some significant hype for "The Dog Stars" ever since the first preview was released. I've never read the book, and likely won't before the movie comes out.
However, I know a fire trailer when I see one, and the new one for the post-apocalyptic thriller is absolutely outstanding.
It's a shot of adrenaline to the soul, and it looks like the exact kind of movie made for guys who love action, suspense and high stakes in a world where civilization has collapsed.

Powerful LGBTQ+ group's endorsements could tank vulnerable Dems over radical youth trans agenda
Endorsements from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a pro-LGBTQ+ advocacy group, are raising questions about whether the candidates they’ve endorsed hold the same beliefs as the organization — stances that could fly in the face of attempts to paint a moderate image.
The endorsements highlight the struggle candidates face to manage their associations — especially on topics and in areas that may draw controversy.
Among their stances, HRC has a few that put it solidly in the progressive camp.
TALARICO CAMPAIGNS WITH SURGEON WHO OPERATED ON TRANSGENDER MINORS: ‘WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING’
The organization has supported gender-affirming care for minors in the form of puberty blockers and hormone therapy. It has also opposed state restrictions on their implementation and has promoted elementary school lessons on gender identity, resisted efforts to restrict Critical Race Theory and promoted removing police from schools.
"Our goal is to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people, and particularly those of us who are trans, people of color and HIV+, are treated as full and equal citizens within our movement, across our country and around the world," the organization states on its website.
The organization has advocated fiercely against virtually all LGBTQ+ restrictions.
In one such case, after the Supreme Court ruled that parents had a right to pull their children out of LGBTQ+ classes and lessons, HRC blasted the decision.
"This decision elevates the religious beliefs of some parents, who believe that being LGBTQ+ is wrong, over any acknowledgement in the classroom that LGBTQ+ young people and their families exist," the organization said in a statement.
In 2026, the organization endorsed 11 Democratic newcomers and 18 incumbents in battleground districts.
Among them, HRC has endorsed members like Rep. Josh Riley, D-N.Y., Derek Tran, D-Calif., and Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, — all of whom won their races by less than five points.

Those members did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital on whether they stood by HRC’s positions.
Headed into the midterms, HRC framed their success as key to taking pressure off of the LGBTQ+ community from the Trump administration.
"Our community is facing an all-out assault on our rights and its coming from a congressional majority bowing to Trump and his MAGA followers. They’re trying to strip away our freedoms and push us back into the closet while doing nothing to meet the urgent needs of the American people," the group’s president, Kelley Robinson, said in a statement.
In the past, some of the candidates HRC has endorsed have framed their appreciation as a matter of shared interest in anti-discrimination.
That was the way Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y., acknowledged their endorsement of him in a 2023 special election.
"I am grateful for the support and endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign. This will be a tough race, and the support of HRC, which has been dedicated to anti-discrimination research, advocacy and education for more than 40 years, means a great deal to me," Suozzi said.
HRC has renewed its endorsement of Suozzi in the 2026 midterms.
The organization did not immediately respond to questions about what factors go into their endorsement process or whether they ask candidates for permission before publicly endorsing them.

She put up a pole, tossed on a tutorial video, started recording her practice session, and got to work. Then, out of nowhere, the pole slipped and struck a sprinkler head in the ceiling of her apartment.
Asha Gilbert had accidentally made it rain inside of her apartment. The sprinkler poured water down from the ceiling and flooded her apartment.
"I went into shock and was completely stunned," she said, reports FOX 26 Houston. "My main concern was for my dog."

The video shows her running out of the apartment as the water continued to rain down. She and the dog reportedly made it out before the fire department arrived on the scene.
It's a good time to remind everyone that there are risks associated with pole dancing. One of those risks if you're on a pole you've installed in your own living room is slippage.
Before you hit the pole with everything you have, you should really double-check that the pole itself is ready for action. You don’t want to rip a sprinkler head out of your ceiling or have the pole carelessly toss you to the ground.
Neither of those outcomes will help you become better on the pole and that's why you have the tutorial video on and the pole installed in the living room in the first place.
Be careful out there as you work on those pole dancing skills in the comfort of your own living room and, by all means, don't let a little setback keep you from improving your skills.
Former coach Jon Gruden lands another pro football gig amid ongoing lawsuit against NFL: report
Jon Gruden has been very vocal about wanting to return to the sidelines, but he may have another stop first.
Gruden's coaching days have been in limbo since parting ways with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 during his third year of a 10-year contract. He left after emails surfaced showing he had used racist, sexist and homophobic language.
The leaked messages were from when he was an ESPN analyst and a 'Monday Night Football' broadcaster. Ironically, his next pro football gig may come in a similar manner.

According to Ira Kaufman of JoeBucsFan, Gruden is slated to be on the call for an NFL preseason game, and Kaufman "believe[s]" he will be doing the play-by-play.
Gruden's agency did not immediately respond to an email from Fox News Digital.
While searching for jobs in pro football, Gruden has made a name for himself with Barstool Sports, doing film study-style interviews with prospective quarterbacks just as he had done with ESPN years ago.
Gruden sued the NFL after he left the Raiders, alleging that a "malicious and orchestrated campaign" was used to destroy his career by leaking the emails.
Gruden was the beneficiary of a key ruling in his case against the league in August when the Nevada Supreme Court determined his case could proceed in court instead of arbitration. In October, the Nevada Supreme Court unanimously denied the NFL's petition to reconsider that decision.

"Hopefully I’m not done. I’m about to make a comeback," Gruden said about coaching last July. "Hopefully, some of these guys that fell off my branch, if you say it that way, maybe they can hire me 'cause I’m looking for a job.
"I don’t care if I coach at Jones Junior High. I’m going to coach again. I’m still coaching. I’m just not on a team officially, but I do have some private assignments I work on, and I wear some gear when I’m watching the games that nobody knows about who I’m pulling for."
Gruden squashed reports that he was offered a role with the New York Jets, saying he did not get "anything" from them.
Gruden won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003.

Canadian woman accused of slapping Trump-supporting teen turned over to ICE
A Canadian national accused of slapping a teen wearing political clothing at the Jersey Shore has been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a representative for the local jail told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, was reportedly seen on surveillance video confronting a group of teens in Point Pleasant Beach, some of whom were wearing pants with the words "Trump" and "ICE" on them, local media reported.
Tracey, a Canadian national who entered the U.S. on a passport in 2024, then allegedly struck one of the girls and recorded the confrontation, according to court documents reported by NJ.com.
An official who picked up the phone at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River confirmed to Fox News Digital that Tracey had been released into ICE custody as of Monday.

Alec Baldwin's tribute to Sam Neill draws online backlash for being 'self-centered'
Alec Baldwin is receiving some intense backlash for his "self-centered" tribute to the late Sam Nell, who died on Monday.
Following the death of the "Jurassic Park" actor, Baldwin took to social media to post a nearly 3-minute Instagram video about Neill. The tribute, however, quickly received harsh reactions online as Baldwin seemed to have only mentioned Neill in the opening 10 seconds and the last five seconds of the clip.
"I just wanted to come on here quickly and say, how stricken I was to learn of the death of Sam Neill," Baldwin began the video he posted on Monday.
"When I did ‘The Hunt for Red October,’ we shot in ’89, it came out in 1990, a long time ago," he continued, before reminiscing about his experience filming the movie and name-dropping the cast.
He eventually circled back to Neill — who played Captain Vasili Borodin in the film — at the end of the video.
"That is one of the few movies I have ever done where I remember the whole movie," he said. "That’s what a fan I am of that work. Not me. I’m not a fan of my work, but I am a fan of their work."
"Anyway, oh my God. My God. Sam Neill. My love to his family, My love to his family," he added.
Followers were quick to react to Baldwin's tribute.
"Omg I’m sorry I thought you were paying respects to Sam Neil. I didn’t realize it was all about you," one user commented on Instagram.
"You didn’t say anything about Sam," another added.
"Damn. I kept waiting to hear some good things regarding Sam Neill," one follower quipped. "Not much of a tribute to Sam but just a name mention. Do better Alec."
However, many came to the actor's defense, praising him for the "most genuine" tribute.

Neill died suddenly at age 78 on Monday after he recovered from cancer, his family announced.
Neill was surrounded by family when he passed away.
"It is with immense sadness that the whānau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July, in Sydney, Australia," his family said in a statement shared on Neill's Instagram page.
"The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free," his family added.
Neill "passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life," his family said.
Shortly after the news was announced, tributes began pouring in from those who knew him best as not only a gifted performer, but a kind, generous and deeply beloved friend.
Nicole Kidman, who starred alongside Neill in the 1989 thriller "Dead Calm," said she was "immensely saddened" by the news.
"Sam was one of the greats, a joy to be around," Kidman said in a statement to The Sydney Morning Herald. "We met when I was just 18, and he took me under his wing, and we stayed friends for life. He was charming, kind, funny and intelligent. He will be greatly missed, and my heart goes out to his family."

Neill's "A Long Way Down" and "Dirty Deeds" co-star Toni Collette shared an emotional tribute on Instagram.
"My friend Sam left us this morning. Yes, he was an incredible actor. But he was also the most beautiful, decent gentleman. A big hearted king with a dry, hilarious wit. I feel so lucky to have known him," she wrote on her Instagram Stories. "When I think of Sam I always see him giggling. It is a terribly sad day. Rest in peace, dear Sam."
Collette also shared a throwback photo of the pair, writing, "I love you, dear Sam. You hero. You legend. You sweetheart. Our great friend. You are already missed so very much. Continue in peace wherever you are."

I’m not going to lie: Part of the reason I’m betting Rahm is that there’s a chance Spain beats the English in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final Sunday and it would be funny if Rahm, a Spaniard, won the British Open in England that same day.
There is a lot more to it, which I’ll discuss in a second, but man, that would be hilarious. It would go down in England’s history books as the "Spanish Invasion" or probably more clever and British. Plus, my sharp golf picks have been terrible this season, so why not have a little fun?
I’ve already parlayed Rahm winning The Open Championship with Spain to win the World Cup and England to be the World Cup runner-up at +13255 odds via FanDuel. I also parlayed Rahm winning the British Open and Spain winning the World Cup at +8930 odds. Regardless, it’s not like Rahm is a bad pick to win The Open.
LIV GOLF'S END MAY BE IMMINENT AFTER REPORT SIGNALS SAUDI ARABIA IS PREPARING TO CUT OFF FUNDING
He is one of the best golfers in the world, a two-time major champion, has won in Europe and on links courses, and doesn’t have a weak club in the bag. Besides a disappointing T38 at The Masters and a missed cut at the U.S. Open, Rahm has been awesome this year, with two wins on the LIV Tour and a T2 finish in the PGA Championship.
Rahm has gained strokes ball-striking (driving and on approach) in the last four Open Championships and on the greens in the last three, according to DataGolf.com. His best British Open finishes are T11 in 2019, T3 in 2021, T2 in 2023 and T7 in 2024.
He was decent last week at the Scottish Open: T37. Yet, Rahm rallied to make the cut after shooting +3 in the first round and hadn’t played in a tournament since the U.S. Open last month. The awkward LIV schedule hasn’t done a good job prepping him for the majors, but playing in Scotland is obviously a great tune-up for The Open.
Collin is in the Geoff Clark Golf Betting Hall of Fame after winning the 2021 British Open when I bet him at +3700. Driving accuracy and iron-play will be huge in determining the 2026 Champion Golfer of the Year, and those are two of Morikawa's specialties: fifth on TOUR this year in driving accuracy and second in Strokes Gained (SG): Approach (APP).
His notoriously inconsistent short-game (chipping and putting) has held him back from winning more. But Collin has gained strokes vs. the field in putting in eight of his last 10 tournaments and around-the-green (ARG) in nine of his past 11, per DataGolf.com.
Morikawa's ball-striking is so accurate he can average week with his short-game and still win the British Open. Collin won the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the best American links course while losing strokes with his putter and only gaining 0.63 strokes ARG.
I like that Bobby Mac hit his irons well at last week’s Scottish Open, for a second straight tournament, and two of his last three, but struggled Sunday and finished T6 when he started the final round tied with the lead, which might make him less popular this week. Maybe not and it doesn’t matter. All that matters is if he plays well.
Nevertheless, MacIntyre ranked 120th on TOUR in SG: APP this season entering the Scottish Open. He gained 3.6 strokes with his irons at the Travelers Championship two starts back and 7.5 in Scotland last week. When Bobby Mac is dialed in with his irons, he contends.
MacIntyre has gained strokes on approach in six tournaments this season; here’s how he finished in them: Sony Open (T4), THE PLAYERS Championship (fourth), Valero Texas Open (T2), RBC Canadian Open (T15), Travelers (T10) and the Scottish Open (T6).
Despite hitting his irons so poorly this year, Bobby Mac still ranked 15th in Par 4 scoring average and eighth in Par 4 Birdie or Better rate. For what it’s worth, I know this isn’t a great number. MacIntyre is +4000 this week and closed at double the price for the 2026 U.S. Open.
However, I’m betting players instead of numbers, and Bobby Mac is a Scot, who excels at links courses and will win a British Open before the end of his career. He’s made the cut at all six Open Championships, finishing T6 and T8 in his first two and T7 last year.
The +7500-ish odds is just too big of a number for JT who is a two-time major winner and playing pretty good golf lately. Last week's T50 at the Scottish Open broke a streak of seven consecutive T23-or-better finishes for Thomas, highlighted by a T4 at the PGA Championship and T17 at the U.S. Open.
His inconsistent driving could be a deal-breaker for JT at Royal Birkdale, but he's gained strokes vs. the field with driving accuracy seven of his last eight starts, per DataGolf.com. That said, short-game will be a separator this week and Thomas ranks second on TOUR in SG: ARG this season.
Not only does the four-time American Ryder Cupper have a world-class short-game but he's won at other courses where you have to be accurate, such as Harbour Town (RBC Heritage), TPC Sawgrass (THE PLAYERS), PGA National (host of The Honda Classic, now known as "The Cognizant Classic").
Ultimately, I'm just betting on Thomas's major-winning talent at a great price.

Senate faces 'come-to-Jesus' moment on Trump's election priority under GOP's new plan
With November's midterm elections just months away, Republicans think they have found the key to passing President Donald Trump's long-stalled top election priority.
The House on Wednesday unveiled a draft framework for a third shot at budget reconciliation, the party-line process that Republicans successfully used to ram through Trump’s "one big, beautiful bill" and a separate $72 billion package funding immigration enforcement for years to come.
The latest $95 billion package is expected to focus on defense funding, farm assistance and the SAVE America Act. While specific details are still being negotiated, several sources familiar with Republicans’ planning told Fox News Digital that it won’t actually be the SAVE America Act tucked into the package.
Instead, a $10 billion pot of money included in the budget blueprint released Wednesday is expected to incentivize states to adopt parts of the original SAVE America Act — first passed by the House earlier this year — to help cover implementation costs.
DHS PLANS COSTLY CRACKDOWN ON STATES THAT DON’T COOPERATE ON ELECTION SECURITY
Policies under consideration include grant funding to help states enforce voter ID requirements and encouraging states to add proof-of-citizenship requirements to REAL IDs, sources told Fox News Digital.
The early deliberations come as pressure mounts from Trump and vocal proponents of the SAVE America Act, both within Congress and online, who are demanding the Senate do whatever it takes to pass the bill.
Senate Republicans have struggled for months to get the stalled election measure across the finish line, which Trump has labeled his top legislative priority.
"The pressure's gonna be on the Senate," Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., a member of the House Budget Committee, told Fox News Digital.
"Certain senators are gonna have to find a real come-to-Jesus moment to pass the strongest reconciliation package possible," he continued.
The budget blueprint’s design could help overcome hurdles in the Senate, where the strict Byrd Rule governs what can survive in budget reconciliation. Senate Republicans have acknowledged that the SAVE America Act, as written, likely wouldn’t pass muster with the Senate parliamentarian, who wields an outsize role over the process.
But adding in a grant-like component rather than shoehorning in the entire bill could be the difference maker in the upper chamber, the sources said.
"If this provision is written the right way — tied to states that already have voter ID on the books, not a new federal enforcement — I believe it can survive reconciliation's rules," Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., and a member of the Senate Budget Committee, told Fox News Digital.
"But I'm not satisfied with a Band-Aid. We need Democrats and every Republican to actually vote yes on voter ID, on proof of citizenship, and on real guardrails for mail-in ballots," he continued. "Kansans deserve election integrity, and I'm going to keep fighting until we get it done."
TRUMP HOLDS WASHINGTON HOSTAGE OVER SAVE ACT AS MIDTERM CLOCK TICKS ON GOP CONTROL
That grant program would allow states to opt in to adopting the SAVE America Act, which has so far failed to pass the upper chamber, where Democrats and a cohort of Republicans have blocked it.
Meanwhile, the House Administration Committee, which has jurisdiction over federal election law, has been tasked with crafting the guardrails for the plan and has until Sept. 11 to get it done.
The budget blueprint is the first step in the complex budget reconciliation process, which allows Republicans to steer around Democratic opposition and pass a forthcoming bill with only GOP votes.
The framework faces an uphill battle in the House chamber, where various corners of the Republican conference have expressed skepticism.
The House Budget Committee is expected to mark up the budget blueprint on Thursday, and GOP leaders are aiming to hold a chamber-wide floor vote by the end of next week.

Asked about some Republicans calling the budget blueprint "dead on arrival," Johnson told Fox News, "We’ll get it done."

AOC offers rare praise to late Sen Graham for backing AI porn bill now stalled in House
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., praised the late Sen. Lindsey Graham for backing legislation that would allow victims of nonconsensual AI-generated deepfake pornography to file civil lawsuits.
The DEFIANCE Act, a bill Ocasio-Cortez and Graham collaborated on, passed the Senate in January by unanimous consent with Paris Hilton previously speaking in support of it.
Graham, who died Saturday after seemingly suffering an aortic tear, was typically a political foe of the Democratic Socialist. The two disagreed vehemently on foreign policy, with Graham supporting a strong U.S. military presence around the world and Ocasio-Cortez frequently advocating for cuts to the defense budget.

Nonetheless, she said Graham was "instrumental" in getting the DEFIANCE Act through the Senate.
"Senator Graham and Senator Hawley as well were instrumental in securing bipartisan support for this legislation to protect kids, women, everyone from nonconsensual AI-developed porn," Ocasio-Cortez said in a brief interview with The Independent's Eric Michael Garcia outside the Capitol.
She added that the House version, which is substantively the same as the Senate version, has yet to advance past the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.

"So when it comes to the House, I think we just gotta ask Jim Jordan," Ocasio-Cortez said.
The legislative record shows that the DEFIANCE Act was referred to the House Judiciary Committee on May 21, 2025, the same day Ocasio-Cortez introduced the measure.
Fox News Digital reached out to Jordan and Hawley's offices for comment.
The bill, if passed, would allow victims who have been nonconsensually depicted in AI deepfake porn to file civil actions in federal district court.
If a victim wins their case, a court could award punitive damages or other forms of relief, including a temporary restraining order or an injunction requiring the defendant to delete, destroy, or stop displaying or disclosing the material.
The bill would allow victims to recover $150,000 in liquidated damages, or $250,000 if the conduct was connected to actual or attempted sexual assault, stalking or harassment, or directly caused such conduct.
Resurfaced Netflix description of 'Gone with the Wind' as being 'known for its racism' sparks online uproar
Netflix is drawing criticism from online commentators who accuse the platform of forcing political messaging into how the epic film "Gone with the Wind" is described on the streaming service.
The resurfaced description circulated online this week, reads, "A 1939 American Civil War epic known for its racism." It also directs viewers to instead search for Black Lives Matter content, adding, "To learn more about Black lives in America, search 'Black Lives Matter.'"
While the 1939 film is unavailable to stream on Netflix in the United States, the title page remains live as an inactive placeholder on its website. The inclusion of the Black Lives Matter label on the public landing page has drawn criticism online, with commentators accusing Netflix of imposing modern political narratives on a classic film. It's unclear, however, who penned the description.
"Buy physical media," Turning Point Action's Jack Posobiec wrote on X in response to an original post by user Valliant Renegade, who shared a screenshot of the Netflix page.
On Wednesday, billionaire Elon Musk waded into the debate, responding to a post about the description and writing simply: "Needs to change."
"Holy crap. I just checked. It's real," conservative account End Wokeness wrote.
It's not new, however; the description has been there for years.
In contrast, HBO Max, which is currently streaming the movie in the United States, describes it thusly: "A strong-willed Southern belle struggles to save her beloved home and find love against the backdrop of the American Civil War and Reconstruction." On Hulu, the description reads, "Classic tale of Scarlett O'Hara's battle to save her beloved Tara and find love during the Civil War."
"Gone with the Wind" is no stranger to controversy and has long faced accusations of promoting racist themes. In 2020, HBO Max temporarily removed the movie in the wake of the George Floyd protests and a scathing Los Angeles Times opinion piece calling for its removal, though it did eventually return with an added historical introduction.

The LA Times op-ed, written by John Ridley, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of "12 Years a Slave," accused the film of romanticizing the "horrors of slavery" and demanded its temporary removal.
Ridley wrote, "It is a film that glorifies the antebellum South. It is a film that, when it is not ignoring the horrors of slavery, pauses only to perpetuate some of the most painful stereotypes of people of color."
Based on Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel, the action follows Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara, the daughter of a plantation owner, as she struggles to keep possession of her family’s property amid the Civil War.
The film version, which is nearly four hours long, won eight Academy Awards in 1940, including Best Picture. Actress Hattie McDaniel made history as the first Black person to win an Oscar for her role as "Mammy."
Adjusted for inflation, it is by far the highest grossing movie of all time, and it is frequently ranked by critics as one of Hollywood's greatest and most influential films.

Critics have accused the film of portraying the antebellum South as idyllic and peaceful, framing the Civil War not as a fight to end slavery, but as a defense of a civilized way of life. It has also been accused of erasing the brutal reality of slavery in the South and perpetuating harmful stereotypes about Black characters.
