DHS slams California 'sanctuary' county after mom allegedly murdered by 2 Honduran nationals
FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) slammed a California county for not honoring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer requests for two illegal aliens accused of murdering a 24-year-old mother earlier this month.
Franquin Inestroza-Martinez, a Honduran national, and Gerzon Jose Chirinos-Munguia, also of Honduras, were arrested in Santa Clara County for allegedly killing Kembery Chirinos-Flores with a shotgun in early January.
Chirinos-Munguia is the father of Chirinos-Flores’ 5-year-old son, and was previously arrested in 2018 for battery and false imprisonment, and subsequently in 2019 for domestic battery and threatening crime with the intent of terrorizing, DHS said.
He was released back into California without ICE being notified in both 2018 and 2019, according to DHS.

"A man lost his life, and a child is now without a mother. These illegal aliens should have never been able to commit these horrific killings and must NEVER be released from jail into American communities," DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital in a statement.
Inestroza-Martinez, the alleged accomplice of the boy’s father, also had an outstanding arrest warrant from New Jersey for the homicide of a 55-year-old in March 2025, according to DHS.
DHS said he was deported from the U.S. in 2013, then again in 2018. He illegally re-entered the country at an unknown date and time before allegedly murdering both the man in New Jersey and Chirinos-Flores.

DHS pointed to the California Value Act (CVA), a "sanctuary" law which prohibits local police from asking suspects about immigration status and limits cooperation between federal immigration agents and local authorities.
"Instead of cooperating with ICE, Santa Clara sanctuary politicians REFUSED to honor ICE’s arrest detainer and will not notify ICE when these murderers are released from jail," Bis added. "This insanity of refusing to turn cold-blooded killers over to ICE must end."
The CVA was signed into law in 2017 in response to the immigration efforts of President Donald Trump during his first term.
The Trump administration sued California over the law throughout 2017-18, though the suit was dismissed by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. The suit failed again during appeal and the Supreme Court declined to hear the case in 2020.
CBS News reported that the child was not harmed in the incident and has since been placed in the custody of child protective services.
"Kembery was in the prime of her life. She was working two jobs, and she was the loving mother of a 5-year-old son," Santa Clara Department of Public Safety Chief Dan Pistor said at a press briefing following the arrests.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Board President of Santa Clara County but did not receive a response.
The Santa Clara County Board president did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Jayapal floats reparations for illegal immigrants impacted by Trump crackdown, demands prosecutions
Amid President Donald Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown, one congressional Democrat is calling for reparations for foreign nationals who are affected.
"We are going to have some form of reparation for the kids and the families that have been traumatized through all of this," Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., said Friday during a congressional hearing, referring to illegal immigrants. "You talked about how there's no support for people even once they're released. We need to make sure that we are funding that kind of work to continue to provide relief."
Jayapal, the former chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), made the comments during the seventh installment of a hearing series titled "Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump’s Attack on Children."
The left-wing lawmaker said reparations for illegal immigrants affected by Trump’s crackdown efforts would be just one item in a series of reforms she would push Democrats to pursue if they retake House control in November.

Jayapal, who was born in India and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, also said she wants "offensive action" regarding those who are carrying out Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown.
"We need real accountability, because at the end of the day, the people that have been inflicting this harm need to be prosecuted," Jayapal said. "They need to be brought before us, and they need to be held to account for the trauma that they have created."
A spokesperson for Jayapal did not respond to a Fox Digital inquiry about who specifically she wants to see prosecuted or who would be eligible for reparations.
Reparations refer to financial compensation for a specific group intended to address reputed economic harms. Many progressive Democrats have long advocated for reparations for the descendants of American slaves.

Throughout the hearing, congressional Democrats repeatedly called attention to the children of deported illegal immigrants, while saying little about the victims of illegal immigrant crime.
The group of Democratic lawmakers did not discuss 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, who was allegedly shot and killed by a Venezuelan national illegally living in the United States in Chicago earlier this month.
Jayapal's comments came during the record-breaking Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that has continued to drag on with no end in sight.
She and nearly all House Democrats have refused to fund the department until the Trump administration agrees to various proposals that could rein in immigration enforcement.
"I have been clear since the start of the appropriations process: I will not vote to give Trump’s ICE or CBP another cent without major reforms," Jayapal said Friday following her vote against a two-month DHS funding extension.
Though Democrats have been willing to fund the non-immigration parts of DHS, most Republicans have rejected that idea because it would effectively defund law enforcement.
Zeroing out appropriations for ICE and the Border Patrol would continue to force support staff employed by those agencies — have not received a full paycheck during the seven-week funding lapse — to keep working without pay.
Kid Rock sparks US Army investigation after military helicopters stunt at Tennessee estate
Kid Rock came under fire by the US Army after the musician shared a clip of what appeared to be military helicopters hovering above his Nashville residence.
The "Cowboy" singer pumped his fist in the air as two helicopters idled outside his home in Tennessee, dubbed the "Southern White House."
"I think they're gonna be alright," he told WKRN. "My buddy is commander in chief. I mean, what are they looking into? They stopped seconds … a minute?"
Rock, 55, explained that he regularly says "whats up" when the pilots are practicing in the area. "It was pretty cool they stopped right there," he explained of Saturday's maneuver. "I wasn't expecting any of that, but I thought it was pretty neat."
Rock, whose full name is Robert Ritchie, cheered as an Apache attack helicopter hovered by his pool, which featured a life-sized sculpture of the Statue of Liberty.
"This is a level of respect that s--- for brains Governor of California will never know," the musician captioned his video.

A spokesperson for Fort Campbell told local WKRN that an investigation has been launched into the flight at Kid Rock’s Whites Creek home.

The AH-64 Apache helicopters reportedly flew over the No Kings protest in downtown Nashville earlier in the day.

"These helicopters were flying a route in the Nashville vicinity for training purposes. Any association with the No Kings Rally also happening in Nashville that day is entirely coincidental," said Bless.
Kid Rock is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, backing him in all three of his presidential campaigns.
He performed his song "American Bad A--" at the 2024 Republican National Convention with altered lyrics to showcase his support for Trump.
Karoline Leavitt blasts minimal media coverage of Sheridan Gorman murder
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the minimal coverage the liberal networks have given to the murder of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman.
Leavitt took a moment at Monday's press briefing to highlight a recent study from the Media Research Center showing CBS News dedicating two minutes and one second of coverage towards Gorman's murder while ABC News spent just one minute and 19 seconds and NBC News spent just 23 seconds total.
She tied the murder, allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant who was roaming the streets of Chicago after being released into the country by the Biden administration, to the ongoing showdown on Capitol Hill as Democrats continue to block DHS funding over its objections to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"I think her life was worth more than 23 seconds on cable television," Leavitt said. "And I think the people in this room have a responsibility to report on cases like this because it just exemplifies why the president believes so strongly in deporting illegal aliens from our communities."

Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., who invoked Gorman's murder during an interview and a separate instance where CNN aired live coverage of a separate White House briefing where Leavitt previously mentioned Gorman.
DHS confirmed that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, is "a Venezuelan criminal illegal alien" who was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and released into the country under the Biden administration in 2023. Medina-Medina was released again one month later after being arrested for shoplifting.
The Chicago Police Department formally charged Medina-Medina with first-degree murder.

Bulls waive Jaden Ivey after he called NBA's Pride Month celebration 'unrighteousness'
The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey following videos he posted where his rant about religion and other topics led to him calling out the NBA for celebrating Pride Month.
The Bulls announced the move on Monday, saying it was due to conduct detrimental to the team.
Ivey’s video calling out the league was posted on Monday morning, as he said it was "unrighteousness" that the NBA would celebrate Pride Month.

Ivey has been posting similar videos with rants in recent weeks, while the 24-year-old has noted in the past he deals with depression.
"The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right?" Ivey said in his latest video. "They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA. They proclaim it. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ They proclaim it. They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim in the streets. Unrighteousness. So, how is it that one can’t speak righteousness? Who are they to say that this man is crazy?"
Ivey also said in a different video that Catholicism was a "false religion," which comes as a potential issue for Ivey’s mother.
Niele Ivey is the head women’s basketball coach at Notre Dame, which of course, is a Catholic university.
Ivey was traded to the Bulls as part of a three-team deal involving his previous Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Ivey was the fifth overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Pistons, who hoped he would be a key piece in their rebuild. He was solid to start his career, making the 2022-23 NBA All-Rookie team after averaging 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game, while shooting 41.6% from the field.
He posted a career-high 17.6 points per game during the 2024-25 campaign, as the Purdue product looked to be hitting his stride.
However, Ivey saw a regression in his production this year, primarily playing off the bench for the Pistons before the trade.
Ivey played just four games with the Bulls, averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game before his release.

NBA's Tristan Thompson supports immigration done 'the right way' in nuanced comments on Trump crackdown
Veteran NBA player Tristan Thompson gave his nuanced thoughts on the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration as a legal immigrant.
"What President [Donald] Trump is doing, first of all, I love what he's done so far for our country," Thompson said in a preview for an upcoming episode of "The Katie Miller Podcast." "I think he's helped our country a lot."
He added, "In terms of where he stands with [immigration], I think...I'm a firm believer because I have family members and I have people that are immigrants. I believe for those that do the thing the right way and get the papers, I think they should be taken care of first and foremost. I think that's the right thing. I think that's the right way of going about it."

Thompson, a free agent who most recently played with the Cleveland Cavaliers, empathized with several people he described as being "in-between states" of getting their legal papers, describing a more "nuanced" position on immigration.
"I think it should be case by case on the right people. I understand where he's coming from, but for me, it varies depending on who the person is," Thompson said.
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment.
Thompson was born in Canada but became a U.S. citizen in 2020 during the first Trump administration ahead of joining the Boston Celtics.
"I came to the U.S. on a student visa and have always had big dreams. I’m now truly living the American dream," Thompson said at the time, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Thompson told Miller that the process was surprisingly quick but denied that his NBA status had any influence.
"I think it was just because of the pandemic, so they were just quick with it," Thompson said.

Democratic strategists say 2028 candidate 'has to be a White guy': report
Democratic strategists are reportedly pushing for the 2028 presidential candidate to be a "straight, White, Christian man" after recent losses, an Axios report alleged.
"Some top Democrats are quietly debating a fraught question: whether the party's best bet for winning back the presidency in 2028 is to nominate a man — perhaps a straight, White, Christian man," Axios reported on Sunday.
"Their fear, divulged with dismay in group chats, at cocktail parties and increasingly in public, is that parts of the electorate are too biased to support a woman or other diverse candidate for president," the report continued.
The report noted that Democratic strategists have become apprehensive after both former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to President Donald Trump in their respective campaigns, though most of these comments have happened "behind closed doors."
"So not discounting the hundreds of other times men have lost…but is it the right thing to nominate a woman?" a national Democratic strategist told Axios.
Axios acknowledged that this concern would discount several high-profile candidates for 2028, including Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego, California Rep. Ro Khanna and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"Democratic strategists have put it bluntly, with several saying a version of 'It has to be a White guy,'" Axios reported.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Democratic National Committee for comment.
Of the potential 2028 presidential candidates, Axios noted only Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and California Gov. Gavin Newsom qualify as "a straight, White, Christian man."

The report followed former first lady Michelle Obama's past comments insisting that the U.S. was "not ready" for a woman president.

"There are men out there that were not [going to] vote for a woman," she said.
Woman dies after falling from 60-foot cliff along popular Smoky Mountains trail
A 65-year-old woman reportedly died after falling from a cliff at Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Saturday, according to park rangers on Monday.
The cliff, located in Tennessee, was roughly 60 feet high and sat along the popular Alum Cave Trail, local outlet WJHL reported.
Rangers responded Saturday after receiving reports that a woman had fallen, but officials with the park said they were unable to resuscitate her, according to the outlet.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most-visited national parks in the country, spanning remote, rugged, and mountainous terrain along the North Carolina–Tennessee border.

Just a day earlier, on Friday, two park visitors were hospitalized after massive boulders slammed into their vehicle during a sudden rockslide, the Charlotte Observer reported, citing the National Park Service.
The enormous slabs reportedly tumbled past a blind curve along a winding road and heavily damaged the front end of the vehicle.
Despite sustaining serious injuries, both victims are expected to survive, the outlet said.

Video shows police drone track down madman after alleged rampage with stabbing, shooting, crash into store
Las Vegas police have released dramatic new drone video showing how officers tracked down a violent suspect following a chaotic domestic incident that unfolded earlier this month.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on March 23 near the 4900 block of West Craig Road, when Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a business, followed by a stabbing and reports of gunfire.
According to police, the suspect rammed a vehicle into a storefront before attacking a woman during what investigators say stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Fox 5 Las Vegas reported that the suspect drove through the front doors of a Dollar Tree and began attacking the woman with a knife.

During the confrontation, another person at the scene fired shots at the suspect, who then fled before officers arrived, according to the outlet.

In the newly released video, LVMPD’s drone unit can be seen tracking the suspect from above as he attempted to escape.

The video shows the suspect moving on foot through the area, darting between buildings and parked cars while officers close in from multiple directions.
At one point, the suspect is seen running alongside a large retail building before heading into a nearby lot, with patrol units quickly moving in on his location.
Officers were able to use the aerial view to quickly locate and arrest the suspect without further incident.
The video drew praise online, with commenters calling the technology "incredible" and thanking officers for their service, while others highlighted the role drones can play in safely tracking dangerous suspects.
Police said the individual who fired the weapon was also detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials say the case remains under investigation, but the video underscores how police are increasingly relying on drone technology to respond to fast-moving, violent situations and apprehend suspects more efficiently.
"This is another example of how our drone program is helping officers respond faster, track suspects more effectively, and protect lives in critical moments," police said in a statement accompanying the video.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and no further details have been released.

Former "Dancing with the Stars" pro Charlotte Jørgensen is speaking out after surviving last week’s deadly Air Canada runway collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
On March 22, two pilots were killed when an Air Canada Express regional jet carrying 72 passengers and four crew members struck a Port Authority fire truck while landing on Runway 4 at the airport.
In an emotional Instagram post she shared Sunday, Jørgensen revealed that she was a passenger on the flight and opened up about the terrifying experience and how she is coping in its aftermath.

The Denmark native's post was met with a flood of supportive comments, including a message from Lisa O'Hurley, the wife of Jørgensen's former dance partner, actor John O'Hurley.
"Charlotte I’m so happy you are safe and what a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from someone actually there," Lisa wrote. "As [my son] Will is now a pilot that was very hard to see. These two men are heroes."
In 2005, Jørgensen and O'Hurley on the first season of "Dancing with the Stars." The pair finished as runners-up in the finale episode.
However, their loss to "General Hospital" star Kelly Monaco and pro Alec Mazo sparked major backlash from viewers, who felt that O’Hurley and Jørgensen were the stronger dancers and pointed out that the two had received higher scores than Monaco and Mazo throughout the season.
The controversy led ABC to make the unprecedented decision to set up a special rematch episode between the final two pairs, giving viewers another chance to vote, which ultimately resulted in a win for O’Hurley and Jørgensen.
In November 2025, Jørgensen returned to the ballroom for "Dancing with the Stars’" 20th anniversary special, reuniting with five fellow original season one pros including Mazo, Edyta Śliwińska, Ashly DelGrosso, Louis van Amstel and Jonathan Roberts.

In total, more than 40 people were hurt in the crash, including passengers, crew and two members of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) unit in the fire truck, which was responding to a separate incident at the time of the collision.
Most of the injured have since been released from the hospital, with only a small number remaining under medical care in the days following the incident.
The National Transportation Safety Board said the accident remains under investigation.
