'Squad' member mourns 'empty' Thanksgiving seats due to 'loved ones abducted & deported,' 'mass incarceration'
As Americans around the nation celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday, progressive Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts — a member of the left-wing cadre of House lawmakers known as the "Squad" — indicated that there were vacant seats at some tables due to people being "abducted & deported."
"This Thanksgiving, I'm thinking of our neighbors with an empty seat at the dinner table. Those with loved ones abducted & deported from their families. Those we lost due to gun violence, mass incarceration, & more. A more just America is possible, if we fight for it," Pressley said in the post.

Democratic Rep. Summer Lee of Pennsylvania, another squad member, said that Thanksgiving reminds some people of "stolen land and broken treaties."
"Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and community for many, but it’s also a reminder of stolen land and broken treaties for others. As we give thanks today, let’s also honor Indigenous communities by committing to the fight for sovereignty, justice, and freedom," Lee declared in a post on Thursday.

In a post last month, Pressley indicated that Americans are living "on stolen land."
"Happy Indigenous People’s Day! We are all on stolen land," Pressley declared in the post.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that head of the office of the president of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has written a letter of resignation.
"I am grateful to Andriy for always presenting the Ukrainian position in the negotiation track exactly as it should be. It has always been a patriotic position," Zelenskyy noted. "But I want there to be no rumors and speculation."

Merriman said while he sees other companies trying to compete with UFC and burning through cash in their attempts, Lights Out Xtreme Fighting is doing something completely different.
"We never looked to compete. We’re creating. We don’t want to compete with the UFC.We don’t care," he told Fox News Digital in a recent interview. "We know there’s other promotions and other organizations out there trying to compete with the UFC.
"In my opinion, I don’t think there will be anybody bigger than the UFC, and there’s a lot of promotions that are just trying to spend their way to the top with money. Just outspend their way and not (having success). We are (successful) because we’ve been more efficient and we are an incubator. We’re not trying to compete with anybody. We’re a hub for this technology, this data and these great fights, and for guys to go into the UFC when they become champions for Lights Out Xtreme Fighting. That’s where we are."
Merriman said he wants the company to focus on building and implementing new technology to make them stand out from the rest.
"We want to change the game. We don’t want to keep going down the track and trying to be like everybody else. We don’t even compete with the UFC, because honestly, truthfully, we don’t care," he said.
Lights Out 29 will take place on Dec. 6 in Long Beach, California, at Thunder Studios. Jake Babian, Sam Fournier, Jordan Azurdia, Dalton Hambrock and Corvan Allen are expected to be in action.
"This growth that we’ve had over the past year has been unprecedented," Merriman told Fox News Digital. "I don’t think anything like this has happened ever in combat sports. We’ve sent five fighters to the UFC in the last two months. We love that, man.
"We love to be able to let those guys go and follow that platform. Just the notoriety we’ve gotten over this past year, we want to be considered one of the best in this business and we’re on our way."

Pastor and stranger linked by gospel song as miraculous kidney donation saves two lives
"We all need more light today. We need more positivity. We need family and faith, hope and strength — that's what these stories are all about."
Those are the words of SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt, co-founders of the "Godwinks" brands based in Massachusetts, who shared the following story with Fox News Digital.
The couple believes the Lord works in mysterious ways.

A favorite song took center stage for two men and their wives — resulting in lives saved and a true blessing to celebrate at this time of year and always.
Pastor Tim Jones, just a few years ago, had begun leading his new church in Kanappolis, North Carolina. On a crisp Saturday morning a few weeks before the holidays, he held a get-acquainted open house.
He set up a "Meet the Pastor" table near the front door as loudspeakers played his favorite song, "Sow Mercy," by the Indiana-based Gaither Vocal Band.

The catchy tune caught the ear of a stranger sitting in his car as he waited for his wife. "Sow Mercy" was Don Herbert's favorite song, too. Drawn by the familiar melody, he got out of his car and made his way to the pastor's table.
The men struck up a conversation, instantly bonding over a mutual love for gospel music. Their chat was brief, simple and sweet.
As they said their goodbyes, they were unaware that this divinely aligned connection was only the beginning of a string of Godwinks to unfold.
Two weeks later, Herbert received devastating news from his doctors at Duke University Hospital.
Without a kidney transplant, he would die very soon. His family members and close friends were quickly tested — but every single one failed to qualify.
Herbert's wife, Belinda, poured out her heart on Facebook, pleading for a donor to save her husband’s life.
Pastor Jones happened to be on his computer when the post popped up mysteriously.
Not immediately recognizing the name, he still felt motivated to step up in faith and kindness. He made a call and was promptly scheduled for a test, though the nurse on the phone told him the likelihood of his being a donor was extremely low.

The first Godwink was immediate: His blood was a perfect match. The two men, by that time, began piecing a plan together and met with their wives about it.
The men went through weeks of intense medical evaluations, not sure what would come of it.
Finally, the transplant team delivered the news.
Jones was a "one-in-20,000" perfect match for Herbert.
The pastor would donate a kidney to a man who came into his life because of a song written for the Gaithers by Reba Rambo and Dony McGuire.

By the time surgery day arrived, the two men, plus their wives, Sherry and Belinda, were becoming close friends. Doctors told them that Jones' procedure would probably take two hours; Herbert's transplant surgery would then follow.
It sounded simple enough.
The spouses waited anxiously as the first surgery began.
Two hours turned into five — then stretched to seven. The wives prayed as they paced and worried.

When doctors were finally ready to wheel Herbert into the transplant surgery, they paused long enough to explain to the wives what was going on. During the pastor's operation, doctors discovered something hidden behind his kidney.
A dangerous aneurysm in a renal artery, like a ticking bomb, had been ready to rupture at any moment. If it had burst — during surgery or afterward — the likely outcome would have been fatal.

But because Jones had responded to the heartfelt appeal on social media by Herbert's wife — and felt an inexplicable urge to provide kindness to a man he didn't know — God led the surgeons to the aneurysm that was about to threaten the pastor's own life.
The doctor summed up the magnitude of the moment with quiet awe: "Tim, you saved Don’s life — but in the process, you saved your own."
That year, when Christmas arrived, the men had both recovered and remained awestruck by the extraordinary Godwinks in their lives, beginning with a favorite song.
Even so, they discovered there was one last Godwink hidden in the Rambo-McGuire lyrics of "Sow Mercy": "If you’ve ever reached out to help a friend, the hand you help may lift you up again. Sow Mercy."

Jets player wounded in New York City shooting back in hospital with 'health issues'
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd said he was back in the hospital as he continues to recover from a gunshot wound suffered in an incident in Midtown Manhattan earlier this month.
Boyd wrote on social media on Wednesday that he was still dealing with "health issues."

"Please (bear) with me, I haven’t been in communication much … I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues," he wrote on his Instagram Stories, according to the New York Post.
"I love and appreciate everyone of ya’ll dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can’t get back to you."
Boyd suggested he was putting his faith in God to help him get through his trials and tribulations. It wasn’t clear when he was released from the hospital.

Boyd was shot in the abdomen back on Nov. 16 outside of a restaurant in the early morning hours. At the time, he was said to be in critical but stable condition. Days later, he posted on his Instagram Stories that he was breathing on his own.
The NYPD released photos of a suspect wanted in connection to the shooting, but no arrests were made, and the suspect wasn’t identified by name.
Boyd joined the Jets in the offseason after spending time with the Houston Texans. He’s been on the injured reserve since August after suffering an injury in training camp.

Fugitive high school coach erased as school scrubs staff profile amid child porn charges: report
The fugitive Virginia high school football coach who disappeared amid an alleged child pornography investigation has had his profile scrubbed from the school’s website.
On Tuesday, authorities announced that they have obtained 10 warrants to charge Travis L. Turner, 46, with five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities adding that additional charges are pending.
Turner was first reported missing as officers with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office were en route to his Appalachia home to speak with him about the investigation on Friday, Nov. 21, according to authorities. Officials had visited Turner’s home one day prior, and were returning only to speak with him and not make any arrests, police said.

Police have launched an extensive search across Wise County utilizing drones, K-9 units and foot patrols. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, sweatpants and glasses, according to Virginia's missing person database.
Just days after the investigation was announced and following Turner’s disappearance, Union High School appeared to have scrubbed the football coach’s profile from the online staff directory, according to ABC 7.
Upon searching Turner’s last name on the site, the only ‘Turner’ listed as an employee is his eldest son, Bailey, who works as a physical education teacher, the Daily Mail reported.

In a previous statement, a spokesperson for Wise County Public Schools confirmed that a staff member employed by the district had been placed on administrative leave pending review of an external allegation. However, the statement did not identify the staff member involved or mention the charges filed against Turner.
"A staff member has been placed on administrative leave with pay while an external agency reviews an allegation that was reported to the division," Superintendent Mike Goforth said in a statement at the time. "This is standard procedure and is not a determination of wrongdoing."
In an updated statement released later in the week, the school district acknowledged that law enforcement has since filed charges against the staff member who was already placed on leave.

"The individual remains on leave and is not permitted on school property or to have contact with students," Goforth said. Wise County Public Schools did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment regarding Turner’s current employment status.
The allegations against Turner are not the first to uproot the Virginia high school community.
In 2023, Timothy Lee Meador, a teacher and coach at the same school, pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent liberties with a child and served one year and three months in prison, ABC 7 reported.
The two men’s employment at the school reportedly overlapped, but details regarding which sport Meador coached remain unclear.
In light of the charges filed against Turner, his wife, Leslie Caudill Turner, has spoken out to deny the accusations after her husband was charged, telling The Daily Mail that "none of that is true."
"He’s a good dad and a good husband, and we want him home. That’s it," she said. "I don’t know anything. I don’t know anything. I’m sorry."
Turner’s family attorney and the VSP did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Cheerleader who died on cruise ship 'fought for her life' as feds weigh possible charges for stepbrother
A relative of Anna Kepner, who died onboard a Carnival Cruise ship in early November, says the teenager "fought for her life" amid reports that her death was ruled a homicide.
18-year-old Anna was found dead while she was onboard the Carnival Horizon on Nov. 7 during a family vacation. Her death was ruled a homicide by "mechanical asphyxiation," according to ABC News, but authorities haven't announced a suspect or person of interest. The FBI is investigating Anna's death.
Relatives said Anna was found dead inside her room aboard the Carnival Horizon, which she shared with her stepbrother.
Krystal Wright, Anna's aunt, told Fox 35 Orlando she believes the 18-year-old cheerleader fought back.

"I know Anna fought. I know she fought for her life, so it’s rough. It’s rough," Wright said.
Anna’s aunt said she’s frustrated that there’s still no arrest, despite the death reportedly being ruled a homicide.
"We don’t understand why, if the boy is a suspect, why has he not been charged yet? What’s happening there?" Wright asked. "It’s turmoil. We’re just sitting here waiting."
While authorities haven't announced any criminal charges, stepmother Shauntel Kepner revealed that Anna's 16-year-old stepbrother has been eyed as a suspect. She made the claim in a court filing amid a legal battle with her ex-husband Thomas Hudson.
Anna's 15-year-old ex-boyfriend recalled an instance where the stepbrother allegedly tried to get on top of her during a FaceTime call.
"When I was on FaceTime with her, and she was lying down, and her brother tried to go on top of her," the ex-boyfriend said.
The ex-boyfriend reported the incident to Anna's parents, saying she had previously complained about being "uncomfortable" around her stepbrother. Anna's ex-boyfriend said he'd be on the cruise had they not broken up.
In a court filing, Christopher Kepner, Anna's father, told People that "I want him to face the consequences … I will be fighting to make sure that does happen."
"He was the only one that was in the room, and the FBI has an ongoing investigation in which they will have to provide the evidence to say that he did do it or did not do this," Kepner said. "And I would’ve never thought that any of this would’ve happened."

Trump calls reporter a ‘stupid person’ during tense exchange about National Guardsmen murder suspect
President Donald Trump asked a White House reporter if she was a "stupid person" on Thursday when she pressed him about the suspected murderer of U.S. National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom.
CBS News White House correspondent Nancy Cordes confronted Trump with reports that the suspect in the shooting of Beckstrom and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe on Wednesday was vetted by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security before being allowed into the country from Afghanistan. She then asked why Trump accused former President Joe Biden of letting the suspect in with no vetting.
"Your DOJ IG just reported this year that there was thorough vetting by DHS and by the FBI of these Afghans who were brought into the U.S., so why do you blame the Biden administration?" she asked.
"Because they let him in. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?" Trump fired back. "Because they came in on a plane along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here. And you’re just asking questions, because you’re a stupid person."

The exchange came a day after authorities say 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal shot Beckstrom and Wolfe just blocks from the White House in what officials called a "targeted" attack.
Wolfe is still "fighting for his life," the president said Thursday, after announcing Beckstrom’s death. Lakanwal is in custody and recovering in the hospital after being shot and wounded by other National Guard members.
Lakwanl entered the country on the heels of the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 under the Biden administration. Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. a month later under "Operation Allies Welcome."
Trump accused the previous administration of allowing Lakanwal and other Afghan refugees into the country without proper vetting during the U.S. withdrawal.
In a Truth Social post following the attack, Trump shared an image of Afghani refugees on board a U.S. plane, and stated, "This is part of the horrendous airlift from Afghanistan. Hundreds of thousands of people poured into our Country totally unvetted and unchecked. We will fix it, but will never forget what Crooked Joe Biden and his Thugs did to our Country!"
Former Biden Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said during a September 2021 press conference that 120,000 people had been evacuated from Afghanistan since the beginning of the U.S. withdrawal, just months earlier. The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center found that nearly 800 aircraft evacuated thousands of people over just a 17-day period in August 2021.

At the time, Mayorkas insisted that the U.S. had properly vetted these refugees before bringing them into the U.S., flagging anyone who had concerning backgrounds.
Cordes told Trump that his DOJ recently reported that there was thorough vetting of these refugees, undercutting his claim that Biden allowed a free-for-all. The remark prompted Trump’s insult. He followed up by doubling down on his claim that the Afghani nationals were unvetted.
"And they came in, and they were unvetted, they were unchecked. There were many of them. And they came in on big planes, and it was disgraceful," Trump replied, elsewhere adding, "And they came in, and they shouldn’t have come in, and frankly the whole thing was a mess. The whole Afghanistan situation was a mess."
It's the latest testy exchange Trump has had with a female reporter, after calling one "piggy" and telling another she was a "terrible person" earlier this month.
Biden posted on X that he was "heartbroken" over the attack on Wednesday and called for all to unite against "violence of any kind."

Bengals' Joe Burrow makes sour face over Maryland crabs during postgame Thanksgiving meal
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will play football with a carbon fiber turf toe plate in his shoe, battle through it to throw two touchdown passes and win a crucial game.
But there is something he won’t do, it seems. He didn’t appear to have any interest in Maryland crabs following the team’s 32-14 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

He and almost all of his teammates joined NBC’s Melissa Stark at the dinner table that was set up at M&T Bank Stadium following the game, which is tradition during Thanksgiving Day games in the NFL.
Burrow picked up a crab and tried to give it to one of his guys. Then, he sniffed it and asked Stark what it was. When he was told it was a hard-shell crab, he put it back and shook his head as if he tasted something sour. The rest of the team chowed down on turkey.

"It’s great to be back," he told Stark after the game. "Certainly not an easy thing to go through, but this moment makes everything worth it. Good to be back out with the guys."
For what it’s worth, Burrow told NBC that his favorite Thanksgiving dish was pumpkin pie.
He finished 24-of-46 with 261 passing yards and two touchdown passes. He threw one to Andrei Iosivas and the other to Tanner Hudson.
Burrow had missed several weeks with a turf toe injury, which he suffered in Week 2. He came back to the field sooner than expected as the Bengals’ playoff hopes began to fade away.
The team is not exactly out of it yet but cannot afford another blemish on their record for here on out.
