WATCH: House Dems unload on Texas Democrat over ‘demented’ antisemitic comments
House Democrats publicly distanced themselves from Texas congressional candidate Maureen Galindo for her recent remarks calling for ICE detention centers to be turned into prisons for "American Zionists."
"Maureen Galindo is a moral disgrace who has no business running for, let alone holding, elected office," Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., told Fox News Digital. "So she should withdraw from the race out of shame."
"That kind of rhetoric has no place in our politics and we should not accept that kind of antisemitism here in the House of Representatives," Rep. John Olszewski, D-Md., said. "There's no world in which I can support a candidate like that."
"She must be crazy — something wrong with her," Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y. said. "That’s demented."

The backlash comes after Galindo posted to her social media pledging to turn ICE detention centers into a "prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers," which drew accusations of antisemitism from both parties. In the same Instagram post, she also said the prison will be used as a castration center for pedophiles, "which will probably be most of the Zionists."
Some House Democrats told Fox News Digital it was the first time they were hearing of Galindo’s controversy, or dodged giving their take on the matter.
"I’m sorry, I’m late for committee," Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said.
"This is the first I’m hearing about it, but I think anyone saying that is problematic," Rep. Ami Bera, D-Calif., said.
"I have no idea about Texas," Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., said.
Top Democrats have also accused Republicans of helping elevate Galindo’s candidacy in Texas’ 35th Congressional District. The seat is currently held by a Democrat, with Republicans hoping to pick up the seat in the November midterms.

The attempt to shift the blame to Republicans comes after accusations have circulated that super PAC "Lead Left," which has spent roughly $900,000 promoting Galindo, has ties to the Republican Party.
No public proof has emerged showing Republican control of the PAC. Still, leading House Democrats were quick to call out the GOP for any potential ties. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said in a joint statement that "MAGA extremists should be ashamed of themselves."
"This is disgusting, and it absolutely has to be condemned — these comments," Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., said. "I think what also needs to be condemned is Republicans putting a million dollars behind her. Why do Republicans want her to win?"
Galindo also said in the post that when elected into Congress, she will work to pass legislation that all Zionism and support of Zionism will be considered antisemitic. She herself has denied allegations of being antisemitic, but says she is opposed to "Zionist Jews."
"I think it’s very clear that we all have to take a stand against antisemitism," Rep. Jonathan Jackson, D-Ill., said when asked about Galindo’s comments.
Since the firestorm that has come from these posts, Galindo has since posted a video to Facebook addressing the antisemitic accusations, claiming she never called for Jewish people to be imprisoned but that she wants to "put billionaire American Zionists who are funding the genocidal prison systems involved in trafficking into prison."

"I'm against all internment camps and would like to see them all shut down ASAP, starting with the many in South Texas," Galindo said, referring to ICE detention centers.
Galindo will go face-to-face against congressional candidate Johnny Garcia on Tuesday in the Texas Democratic primary.
"She won't make it here," Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, said when asked if he would pursue moving to expel her from Congress if elected. "I'm confident that the people in that district, much of which I represented for a decade, will stand with Johnny.
Feds seize $6.4M worth of cocaine aboard oil tanker at Port of Los Angeles, arrest suspected cartel smuggler
A suspected drug smuggler was arrested off the coast of California this week after federal agents discovered $6.4 million worth of cocaine aboard an oil tanker destined for a Mexican drug cartel.
Ceasar Tubay Gelacio Jr., 43, of the Philippines, was charged with importation of a controlled substance, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced.
Officials said Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a joint operation Thursday aboard the Motor Tanker Aquatravesia, a crude oil tanker docked at the Port of Los Angeles.
A Coast Guard narcotics detection canine alerted authorities to suspected contraband, and investigators later confirmed the cargo contained 500 pounds of cocaine worth approximately $6.4 million, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

"This operation highlights Homeland Security Investigations’ unwavering commitment to combating transnational crime and safeguarding the United States from illicit narcotics," HSI Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Eddy Wang said in a statement.
"HSI’s swift response and investigative expertise were instrumental in identifying and seizing over 226 kilograms of cocaine destined for our communities," Wang continued. "We remain dedicated to pursuing those who attempt to exploit our ports and transportation systems, and to working with our partners to disrupt criminal organizations that threaten public safety."
Capt. Stacey Crecy, sector commander for Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach, called the seizure a "testament to the coordinated efforts" of DHS agencies working to dismantle drug-smuggling operations.

"Through stellar coordination, we effectively detained the suspect and removed the contraband from the vessel to protect the maritime transportation system and facilitate commerce as quickly as possible," Crecy said.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, authorities received information that the Greek-owned, Liberian-flagged Aquatravesia, which last departed from Ecuador, was traveling to the United States carrying a large shipment of drugs intended for a Mexican cartel.
Crew members allegedly discovered numerous packages hidden inside the ship’s garbage room that were believed to contain narcotics, according to the affidavit.

Prosecutors said the ship’s captain interviewed crew members and learned the drugs allegedly belonged to Gelacio. The captain then moved the narcotics to another part of the vessel.
While the Aquatravesia was still in Mexican waters, the captain was allegedly told cartel members would be waiting roughly 80 nautical miles offshore on the evening of May 14 and the early morning of May 15 to retrieve the drugs, according to the complaint.
If the narcotics were not delivered, additional boats would allegedly intercept the vessel in Mexican waters and recover the contraband.

Prosecutors also said the captain received radio calls from cartel members attempting to communicate with the Aquatravesia before boarding or seizing the vessel.
U.S. authorities directed the tanker to continue to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, where law enforcement boarded the vessel Thursday.
Authorities allege Gelacio received the narcotics in Ecuador and intended to distribute them to another party while the ship traveled near Mexico.
If convicted, Gelacio faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
DHS said two additional individuals were also taken into custody in connection with the operation.

Caitlin Clark leads Fever in scoring as Indiana secures third consecutive WNBA win
The Indiana Fever ruled Caitlin Clark out of Wednesday’s game against the Portland Fire with a back injury less than two hours before tipoff, marking her first missed game of the season.
Indiana went on to beat the Fire 90-73, but Clark’s late scratch raised concerns about her availability for Friday’s matchup against the Golden State Valkyries.
Those concerns proved short-lived, as Clark was back in the lineup just two days later.

Clark was not listed on the Fever’s injury report Thursday, and despite missing practice the previous day, she returned to score 22 points in Indiana’s 90-82 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year also recorded nine assists, finishing just shy of a double-double.

In the third quarter, Clark knocked down another 3-pointer from well beyond the arc.

Judge tosses Michael Wolff's lawsuit against Melania Trump, calls it 'contorted' and not how 'courts work'
A federal judge tossed journalist Michael Wolff’s lawsuit against first lady Melania Trump on Friday, calling it a "contorted" effort and "not how the federal courts work."
Wolff sued Trump to keep her from suing him for $1 billion for alleged defamatory statements he made about her involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Manhattan Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, claimed both Wolff and Trump had engaged in an "inappropriate level of tactical gamesmanship."
Despite admitting that both sides have a "real dispute," Vyskocil said she wouldn’t be "conscripted to oversee an abusively presented spat."

The first lady’s lawyer sent Wolff a letter last year, calling on him to retract the statements he made about Trump and warning that she would have "no alternative" but to sue him if he didn’t.
That prompted him to file a state suit against her in October.
Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, had the lawsuit transferred to federal court where Vyskocil said that while federal court does have jurisdiction, she was declining to exercise it and "dismisses this case to be litigated like any other."
A Melania Trump spokesperson said Friday that the first lady "is proud to continue standing up to, and fighting against, those who spread malicious and defamatory falsehoods as they desperately try to get undeserved attention and money from their unlawful conduct."
The 56-year-old’s lawyer previously claimed that Wolff’s statements caused her "overwhelming reputational and financial harm."
The first lady has denied any association with Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges.
"The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today," the first lady said in an April press conference. "The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation."
Wolff claimed in his lawsuit that the president and first lady "have made a practice of threatening those who speak against them" with costly legal actions "to silence their speech, to intimidate their critics generally, and to extract unjustified payments and North Korean style confessions and apologies."
He added that some of his statements were taken out of context and some were protected speech, including a statement he made that claimed the Trumps have a "sham marriage, trophy marriage," that his lawsuit says was a "fair and justified" opinion.
It also said in his lawsuit that Wolff never accused the first lady of being involved with criminal activity associated with Epstein.
The Daily Beast retracted an article last summer called "Melania Trump ‘Very Involved’ in Epstein Scandal: Author," that was based on an interview with Wolff, after the outlet received a letter from Brito.
Wolff said that in his interview, which the retracted story was based on, he claimed the first lady was managing the matter "behind the scenes" at the White House, but was not criminally involved.
Wolff has written four bestsellers about the president: "Fire and Fury," "Siege," "Landslide," and "All or Nothing."

Rob Base, member of Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, has died just days after his 59th birthday.
A joint Instagram post was shared on Friday announcing that Base, whose real name is Robert Ginyard, died after a private battle with cancer.
"Today, we share the heartbreaking news that hip-hop legend Rob Base passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by family after a private battle with cancer," the statement began.
It continued, "Rob's music, energy, and legacy helped shape a generation and brought joy to millions around the world. Beyond the stage, he was a loving father, family man, friend, and creative force whose impact will never be forgotten.

From the mere mention of that, the powers that be at the WWE are thinking about how they would swan-dive, Scrooge McDuck-style, into a pile of money if this happened.
According to ClutchPoints, late last year, Cunningham was asked which wrestlers she would like to face in a match.

Nikki Bella's name came up, and now she's responding.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Bella didn't just accept; she called on Cunningham to round up her Indiana Fever teammate, Clark, to make this a tag match with her and her twin sister and fellow Hall of Famer, Brie Bella.
"Sophie Cunningham has said that she's wanted to take me on, so I'd like to take her and Caitlin Clark on; that'd be fun," Bella said. "She started it; we'll finish it."

'Illicit' version of fentanyl linked to deadly New Mexico incident that sickened first responders
Authorities on Friday identified the mystery substance that hospitalized more than a dozen first responders after they responded to a New Mexico home where three people died in a suspected overdose incident.
Officials said first responders were exposed to fentanyl after arriving at a home in Mountainair, New Mexico, where four people were found unresponsive.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third later died at the University of New Mexico Hospital. A fourth person survived.
"Preliminary findings indicate this incident is tied to exposure to a powdered opioid substance within the home, and on-scene DEA laboratory analysis has confirmed the presence of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and para-fluorofentanyl, also called P4 fentanyl," New Mexico State Police Chief Matt Broom said during a news conference.

"It’s a more illicit form or version of fentanyl," he added.
Authorities said the drugs were found in powder form.
Officials said 25 people were exposed to the substance, with 20 hospitalized for treatment before being released.

Two individuals remain hospitalized after arriving in serious condition, police said.
Authorities identified two of the people who died as Micah Rascon, 51, and Georgia Rascon, 49.
Both the survivor and one of the deceased were administered the overdose medication Narcan.

Authorities said numerous first responders began experiencing symptoms including nausea and dizziness.
"These men and women responded to a dangerous situation while working to protect lives and secure the scene," Broom said. "We especially recognize the first responders who became sick while carrying out their duties."
Torrance County Fire Chief Gary Smith said firefighters did not enter the home wearing hazmat protection because the situation did not initially appear to require it.
He added officials would review the response procedures moving forward.
"I mean, we’re only as good as our last call, right?" Smith said. "There’ll be multiple debriefings that we’re going to be doing over the next week or two to find out where our strengths were and where our weaknesses were."
The incident remains under investigation.
High school teacher who allegedly had sex with student in closet now faces charges involving more teens
A 25-year-old high school teacher who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly having sex with a student, now faces additional charges and is accused of engaging in improper conduct with several more students, according to arrest records.
Maris Nicols, 25, was arrested on Thursday on multiple charges, including grooming of a minor, sexual assault and child molestation.
Nicols, who previously taught at Alexander High School in Douglas County, is now accused of sex crimes involving six teenagers, FOX 5 reported, citing court documents.
She was first arrested earlier this month, accused of having sex with one student twice: in a school closet and in a Hummer parked in a driveway.

Her bond was set at $74,000, and she had bonded out by Friday, according to the station.
Nicols is now accused of sending nude photos and videos of herself, including masturbating with a sex toy while on a live video chat with at least two teens under 16, FOX 5 reported.
She also allegedly sent text messages to two male students describing sex acts she wanted them to perform on her, and sent nude photos to a female student and encouraged her to watch the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Nicols also allegedly had sex with another student in the back of his truck at a golf club.
In a letter to parents, The Douglas County School System previously said it was "deeply troubled" by the allegations.
"Upon learning of the alleged misconduct, the district immediately launched an investigation," the letter sent after Nichols’ first arrest earlier this month said. "The Douglas County School System will continue to cooperate fully with state and local law enforcement. The district cannot provide additional information regarding the allegations. Any further inquiries should be directed to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office."
