Reality star Steve McBee Sr. blasts government fraud case as a 'bullying technique' before heading to prison
Steve McBee Sr. is preparing to begin his two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme involving crop insurance.
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 52-year-old reality star shared how he reacted to learning he would be going to prison, saying "it was a sobering moment."
He explained that when he first heard about the investigation, he "really wasn't overly concerned," because, as a business owner for more than 33 years, he had "gone through every audit under the sun." He thought it was just like any other audit, and after they got the necessary information, "it'll go away like the rest of them."
However, after a meeting with his lawyer, he came to understand that this time was different.

"I went down there and the government basically just gave us kind of a BAFO – best and final offer," he said. "We have 48 hours. He said this is their bullying technique, kind of the poker game here. And then, basically what they said was, okay, you as an individual can plead guilty and, just for clarification, you can plead to one count of giving a fraudulent statement to crop insurance. If you don't do that as an individual, Steve A. McBee, in turn, we're going to charge one of my teammates, one of my co-workers, with 27 federal indictments in 48 hours."
He called what they did a "bullying technique," saying both he and his teammates "had nothing to do with it." He said, "When I looked at them charging some of my fellow co-workers," he couldn't let them take the blame, adding that as the owner of the company, "I made the decision the buck stops with me," so he took the responsibility.

McBee was sentenced to two years at the Federal Prison Camp in Yankton, South Dakota, and during a sentencing hearing on Oct. 16, was also ordered to an additional two years of supervised release once he completes his prison sentence, and he will have to pay $4,022,124 in restitution to the USDA Risk Management Agency.

Prior to his sentencing, he faced up to 30 years in federal prison.
"I wanna make absolute, with absolute clarity, that people understand, there's no money missing," he said. "When you farm like over 10,000 acres, which we farmed 44,000 acres, three states, in 2020, 923 different fields, they do a post-planting audit, a pre-harvest, and a post-harvest audit. They know what grain we have. They've been all over every field."
"They found a plant date that was half wrong. We were there on May 20th. We planted half the field. We didn't go back till like June 19th," he added. "And they basically said, your entire crop insurance is null and void because of a half wrong plant date. I mean, I'm like, this can't be real. That's day-to-day common business."

McBee went on to call the case against him a "trophy prosecution," adding that the business has been greatly impacted by the two-year prison sentence, explaining he's lost over $20 million in loans. "I had to pay all them off, had to sell a bunch of land. I mean it goes on and on," he said.

In addition to the monetary loss, McBee said his reputation has also been "destroyed," with people now thinking he earned all his money by defrauding the government, and not through "33 years of working seven days a week."
"We didn't make money farming. We broke even some years, and farming is very difficult to make money and, I like challenges and I love farming. It's, I think it's in my DNA," he said. "Literally 75 people lost their job. We downsized drastically, and I still have 300 employees at my other businesses. It caused problems at my other businesses, well, everywhere. Everywhere you bank with, because when they charge you with a felony, I mean, then the banks get involved, as you would know from personal guarantees."

When it comes to his family, however, the reality star said they "have never been closer." He said he knows he "raised four lions, not four sheep," and isn't worried about his sons, adding they have a strong work ethic.
Despite everything he is going through, McBee maintains he will "never let somebody make me a victim" and once his sentence is over, he "will come out stronger and more ready to go than ever."

"Steve McBee holds the door open for every young and old person. My kids are always like, 'Dad, don't pick up hitchhikers.' I stop and change tires on the side of the highway. That's who Steve McBee is. I know who I am," he said. "I'm not stabbing somebody at a gas pump after I've been arrested 100 times and let back out on the streets. But I'm the one going to prison. Life ain't fair sometimes, for no reason at all. I told the boys that, and I'm going to buck up, but I want my story heard because other farmers need to know they can get you any time they want."
In terms of preparing for prison, McBee said he has "tried to get everything in line with the businesses" for his sons and the managers.

He tries to look on the bright side of the situation, saying this is an opportunity for his managers "to step up, prove that they can do this."

"People don't call me and say, 'Hey, Steve just wanted to let you know everything's great today,' they call me with the crisis," he said. "‘Hey, this and this happened, how do you want to handle it?’ Well, now they'll get the opportunity to make those decisions, so I think they're they're nervous, but they'll be fine so I've tried to prepare everything."
Prior to going to prison, he will also take time to celebrate all the holidays and birthdays he will miss while away.

The whole process will be shown on the next season of "McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys," with McBee saying his family always wants to be "transparent" with their viewers.
"One thing that we said when we were making the show with Bravo and NBC Universal was that we want to keep it real," he said. "We feel like too many of the shows, the drama they kind of tried to create it and whatever, so we want to be very transparent and open with our lives if we think that people can read through the BS, and they know what's real and what's not. And so yeah, we're gonna allow them."
"That was a family decision," he added. "They asked, and they were very respectful if they could film that. And we kind of all talked about it collectively, as a group, and decided that it's happening regardless. It's part of our lives."

Named for the Old Testament prophets who faithfully waited for the Messiah, their stories add context to the kind of hope this candle represents. It is a patient hope — a hope that endures in the face of suffering. Above all, it is a hope that will be realized. That’s what we remember this Sunday, and that’s why we light the wreath every year. It’s not just a tradition. It’s a reminder that light will overcome darkness.
In a study published in MIT Technology Review, researchers found that the human eye can see a single candle flame from just over 1.7 miles away. Even a small, solitary candle can stand against incredible darkness. More than that, it’s the presence of the darkness that makes the glow of the candle shine all the more brightly.
The same is true of hope in this world. Hope, like light, is more powerful than the darkness of evil. That’s why the Apostle John uses the imagery of light and darkness in the opening verses of his gospel, saying, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

But we aren’t supposed to wait around, simply expecting God to act. Instead, He invites us to participate, to help bring His kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. He expects each of us to represent a tangible hope by loving our neighbors, feeding the hungry and caring for the sick.

In October, 22 people graduated from the CityServe Educational Collaborative, a program in Kern County, California, where CityServe is headquartered, that provides life coaching and job-skills training to those experiencing obstacles or a painful past. During the ceremony, one graduate read a poem reflecting on the power and impact of the program. One line rings especially true today:
"You are vessels of hope."
These words remind us that hope isn’t simply an idea. It is tangible and embodied in action. It meets people wherever they are on their journey.

We do this not in our own power, but as people reflecting the light of the greatest hope for all mankind — Jesus Christ. Because of Him, our hope incarnate, we can be light in the darkness and persevere in the face of evil for the good of our neighbor. It is into that most holy work that we are invited, not just this Advent season, but every day of our lives.
Mysterious pile of bones discovered near popular landmark triggers urgent investigation
An unusual grouping of bones was found near one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks — and officials aren't sure how the bones got there.
The remains were found on Crow Hill near Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, a rise within Holyrood Park that overlooks Duddingston Loch and the Firth of Forth.
Park rangers uncovered the bones during a routine patrol after a wildfire burned part of the park in August, according to Historic Environment Scotland (HES).

The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation. Though the collection was found over the summer, officials did not disclose the discovery until November.
Once alerted, archaeologists quickly arrived to assess and remove the cache.
The curious collection of bones consists of several specials, according to the HES, including "cattle, horse, sheep or goat and possibly even cat."
The HES added, "The remains do not seem to have been part of a wider feature. However, the number and variety of bones make it an unusual — and potentially significant — discovery."

An HES official told Fox News Digital the bones are likely post-medieval, but no age has been determined yet.
"It is likely this area was used for grazing, as much of the land in Holyrood Park was grazed in the past," an HES spokesperson said.
"However, the bones belong to various species of animal and are not complete skeletons, so there is no obvious or direct link to sheep grazing."
Specialists plan to radiocarbon date the bones, which they hope will shed light on how old they are and why they were dumped.

The HES also noted that Crow Hill is near a prehistoric hillfort that once surrounded the summits of both Crow Hill and Arthur's Seat.
The spokesperson added that Holyrood Park is a "hugely rich archaeological landscape" — with much more of its history still to be uncovered.

"We are continually learning about its past and the nature of what survives here," the official added.
The bone collection adds to a number of eyebrow-raising archaeological discoveries in Scotland over the past year.
Over the summer, an archaeology student found a finely carved ancient head, featuring an eerie smile, during a dig on a Scottish farm.
In Inverness, archaeologists discovered a prehistoric village beneath a future golf course earlier this year.
Chinese cyberattack campaign likely impacted every American, former FBI official says
A former FBI official claims that it's likely every American has been impacted by a Chinese-state-sponsored cyberattack.
International law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and National Security Agency, issued a joint advisory in September warning the public that CCP-sponsored actors are "targeting" many aspects of American lives, including telecommunications, government, transportation, lodging, and military infrastructure networks.
The cyberattack wasn't limited to the U.S. and targeted many countries around the globe, according to the advisory. According to the international agencies, the three Chinese companies believed to be behind Salt Typhoon work for China's intelligence services, which include units in the People’s Liberation Army and Ministry of State Security.
Through the information gathered during the cyberattacks, the Chinese intelligence services can "identify and track their targets’ communications and movements around the world."
FBI DIRECTOR PATEL LEADS CHARGE TO ROOT OUT CHINESE INFLUENCE ON US SOIL
Cynthia Kaiser, a former high-ranking official in the FBI's cyber division, told the New York Times it's hard to envision a scenario where any American wasn't impacted by the hack.
"I can’t imagine any American was spared given the breadth of the campaign," she said.
Those directly impacted by the cyberattack include senior U.S. government officials and prominent political figures whose communications were accessed, according to the FBI.

Pete Nicoletti, chief information security officer at Check Point, told Fox News Digital that those behind the Salt Typhoon cyberattack had unprecedented access to phone calls being placed by Americans.
"They had full reign access," Nicoletti, said. "So, you know, your grandmother calling you to remind you to pick up groceries was not a targeted person and they're gonna listen into that call. But Trump, Vance, Kamala Harris, and dozens of other US government officials were specifically targeted."
Nicoletti said the Salt Typhoon hackers "established a foothold and exfiltrated data for five years," which is "almost unprecedented."
Yet the cybersecurity expert says his greatest concern is not what Salt Typhoon may target in the future, but whether the group remains embedded inside companies and agencies that still haven’t discovered the intrusion.
"My biggest concern is they're still in various organizations and undetected," he said. "So the thing that I worry about is not the next time that these guys hack somebody, it's what they're doing currently and who they're in."
When discussing the cyberattack in December 2024, then-deputy national security adviser Anne Neuberger said the hackers worked to identify the owners of various devices, then spy on phone calls and text messages if they were "government targets of interest."

Massachusetts man accused of beating parents and setting home on fire, leaving them to die
A man was arrested after allegedly beating his elderly parents, lighting their Massachusetts home on fire and leaving them in the residence despite their pleas for help, according to authorities.
Darius Hazard, 44, was charged with murder and arson after his parents — 76-year-old Venture and 83-year-old Donald — were found dead in the living room of their burned North Adams home on Monday, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
Hazard confessed to physically assaulting his parents inside their home, pouring gasoline on the floor and setting the house on fire before driving away and abandoning them in the burning structure, investigators said.
Both of the suspect's parents were found dead in the home by firefighters who responded to the blaze at about 7 a.m. on Monday. The medical examiner ruled their cause of death as smoke inhalation.
ILLINOIS MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON AFTER ALLEGEDLY SETTING HOME ABLAZE ON THANKSGIVING
Police later took Hazard into custody at a Walmart parking lot. Officers frisked him, and he said he had a knife in his car. He said he had attempted to stab himself, and he had injuries to his thigh and chest.
Prosecutors said Hazard told the officers he became "really, really angry" while he and his father were helping his mother, who had difficulty walking and suffered from advanced arthritis and scoliosis, after she fell around 3 a.m., court documents show, according to WNYT.
"I guess I snapped," he said.
Hazard was yelling at them and hitting them repeatedly, the outlet reported. His father told him to stop, which he eventually did. He then shoved both parents to the floor and struck them with various objects, as well as his fist. He even threw a fan at his father.
He poured gasoline on the floor upstairs and in the living room, set a match and drove away.
His parents were injured, but alive when he left. He told police they were yelling "come back" and "help me, help us, we are in trouble" as he left the home.

Hazard said he knew he should not have lost his cool like this. He said he had lost his temper in the past and yelled or broken things, but this was the first time he assaulted his parents.
He has pleaded not guilty and remains held without bail at Berkshire County House of Correction, News 10 reported.
Schumer accuses Trump of pushing US toward ‘foreign war’ with Venezuela
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., issued a sharp warning Saturday about President Donald Trump’s posture toward Venezuela, accusing him of edging the U.S. "closer and closer to another costly foreign war" without congressional approval.
In a blistering statement, Schumer criticized Trump’s recent escalation toward Venezuela and argued that the president had upended the Constitution.
"President Trump’s reckless actions towards Venezuela are pushing America closer and closer to another costly foreign war," Schumer stated. "Under our Constitution, Congress has the sole power to declare war — not the President — and Congress has not authorized the use of military force against Venezuela."
The minority leader cautioned the president to avoid entering into another overseas conflict, writing that "Americans are tired of endless foreign wars that cost the lives of countless American service members and drain precious resources."
"This is not an America First policy," he added.
Schumer called for bipartisan pushback, urging his colleagues in Congress to "come together to return the power to declare war back to the people."
The New York Democrat's comments came after Trump wrote on Truth Social that Venezuela’s airspace should be considered "closed in its entirety."

That post came a week after the Federal Aviation Administration warned airlines of a "worsening security situation" in the area.
While speaking to U.S. service members on Thanksgiving, Trump said the U.S. will "very soon" begin stopping suspected Venezuelan drug traffickers "by land."

The president added that drug traffickers kill "hundreds of thousands of people a year" in the U.S. from the "poisons" they bring in.
Trump has not dismissed the idea of sending American troops into Venezuela, stating on Nov. 17 that he hasn't eliminated the possibility.

Asked whether he ruled out troop deployments, Trump responded, "No, I don't rule out that, I don't rule out anything."
On Friday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth defended the Trump administration's strikes on alleged drug vessels in the Caribbean Sea.
"As we’ve said from the beginning, and in every statement, these highly effective strikes are specifically intended to be ‘lethal, kinetic strikes,'" Hegseth wrote on X. "The declared intent is to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco-boats, and kill the narco-terrorists who are poisoning the American people. Every trafficker we kill is affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization."
Hegseth's statement followed reports from multiple news outlets, including The Washington Post and CNN, that claimed the U.S. military ordered a second strike on a suspected drug vessel in the Caribbean on Sept. 2 after the initial attack left two survivors.
"As usual, the fake news is delivering more fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect the homeland," Hegseth added in his post.
House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers, R-Ala., and ranking member Adam Smith, D-Wash., issued a joint statement Saturday reiterating that the committee is "committed to providing rigorous oversight of the Department of Defense’s military operations in the Caribbean."
"We take seriously the reports of follow-on strikes on boats alleged to be ferrying narcotics in the SOUTHCOM region and are taking bipartisan action to gather a full accounting of the operation in question," the lawmakers wrote.

Mass shooting at Stockton, California, banquet hall leaves 4 dead, 10 wounded
Four people were killed and 10 were wounded in a mass shooting in Stockton, California, Saturday evening, according to officials.
Deputies responded shortly before 6 p.m. to a report of a shooting near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference that children and adults were shot.
Early indications "suggest this may have been a targeted incident," a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.

The suspect remains at-large, according to the sheriff's office.

The shooting happened during a family gathering inside a banquet hall.
Multiple people were taken to hospitals, although their conditions are unclear.
The incident remains under investigation, with the FBI also probing the shooting.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the situation, and the governor's Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with local law enforcement.
"Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this senseless violence," the sheriff's office said.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee said: "I am devastated and angry to learn about the mass shooting at a child’s birthday party. An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives."

Idaho bar offers free beer to patrons who help ICE deport illegal immigrants
Bar patrons are raising a glass to a local Idaho saloon after its viral social media post promised "free beer" to anyone who helps Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) track down and deport an illegal immigrant.
The Old State Saloon alerted its followers Saturday, writing on X that "anyone who helps ICE identify and ultimately deport an illegal from Idaho gets FREE BEER FOR ONE MONTH" at its establishment.
The watering hole, located in Eagle, Idaho, added that it "may award multiple months to one person if multiple illegals are deported."
Anyone trying to claim their free beer is asked to send evidence, including photos and videos, to deportations@oldstatesaloon.com.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reposted the saloon’s promotion with a GIF highlighting their amazement with the offer. The bar enthusiastically replied, "Let’s go! Deport them all!"
One user responded to the announcement, asking if the saloon could create a leaderboard and champion a "Deporter of the Year" at the end of the year who wins even more free beer.
At least one person has already been approved by the saloon. The establishment posted that Ryan Spoon, vice chair of the Ada County Republican Central Committee in Idaho, would receive free beer from any of its 20 draft options after he provided evidence that he helped ICE make an arrest.

In 2024, the saloon’s owner, Mark Fitzpatrick, announced that his establishment would be promoting "Heterosexual Awesomeness Month," featuring discounts and free beer for heterosexual men, women and couples throughout June, in response to Pride Month.
The saloon offers a wide array of merchandise on its store website, including shirts that display the slogan, "Make America Straight Again."
