Todd Blanche moves closer to confirmation after rescinding $1.8B fund
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche moved closer to Senate confirmation Sunday after formally rescinding a controversial $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" and narrowing tax protections included in President Donald Trump’s IRS settlement.
A spokeswoman for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, confirmed an agreement had been reached after Cornyn and Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., held up Blanche’s nomination. The agreement could clear the way for Cornyn to support Blanche at a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting Tuesday. Tillis had not publicly commented on the agreement as of Sunday night.
The committee is scheduled to vote on the nomination Tuesday, needing all Republicans on board to counter Democrats, who remain entirely opposed to Blanche's confirmation. An earlier committee vote was postponed after Cornyn and Tillis said they needed a written commitment from the administration.
Blanche formally met the senators’ demands by terminating the fund and clarifying that tax-related protections in the settlement apply only retroactively and do not cover future tax filings.

The fund never became operational: no members were appointed, no money was transferred, no claims process was established and no payments were made, according to the Justice Department.
"My team and I have met with committee members and Senators over the past several weeks and addressed any concerns or outstanding questions," Blanche said in a post on X Sunday.
"We have enjoyed good faith discussions, and as a result issue the following order and update with regard to the May IRS settlement. The Department always welcomes and appreciates productive engagement with all members of Congress," he added.
Blanche’s order formally rescinded the May 18 directive establishing the fund and clarified that tax-related protections in the settlement apply only retroactively, not to future filings.
Cornyn and Tillis had sought the commitment in writing amid concerns that the fund could be revived, particularly as Trump continued to publicly support the idea. Lawmakers had also raised concerns that people convicted in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot could be eligible for payments.
"Sen. Cornyn has reached an agreement with the Department of Justice, which will be issuing a formal order permanently terminating the anti-weaponization fund and making clear in a binding written document that the scope of the audit settlement is limited to only the plaintiffs, including the President, and the IRS," Natalie Yezbick, a Cornyn spokesperson, told Politico.
Tillis had not announced whether the agreement was enough to secure his support.
Tills is expected to follow Cornyn in backing Blanche on Tuesday after saying on Saturday, before the agreement was reached, that Trump "clearly intends to resurrect the payout pot for punks either by inappropriately establishing another bogus fund or pushing Congress to vote for a bill that the majority of Republicans in the Senate would be against."

"It’s unfortunate that Todd Blanche, who I consider qualified for the job, will not be confirmed because of this reversal. Hopefully, we can resolve this by Tuesday," Tillis said at the time.
Blanche has been serving as acting attorney general since he took over for Pam Bondi in April.
Senate Republicans hope to advance Blanche’s nomination before the end of the week.
Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski unloads on Angel Stadium mound after embarrassing Angels loss
In a David-and-Goliath upset, the Angels stunned Jacob Misiorowski and the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, capping Milwaukee's three-day stay in Anaheim.
Afterward, Misiorowski said the mound at Angel Stadium was among the worst he'd ever pitched on.
"It was awful. It was probably one of the worst mounds I've had. It was dry; it was rock hard. I had the guys out there fix it three times, two times. And we got it back to being decent, but yeah, it was awful; it's bad," Misiorowski said (via Brewers beat writer Adam McCalvy).

Still, Miz made clear he wasn't using it as an excuse.

The lone mistake was Wade Meckler's two-run homer in the second inning. His comments revived criticism of Angel Stadium's aging conditions, an issue many Angels fans have long associated with what they view as poor ownership.
Just this season, Angel Stadium closed an entire seating section because of a pest issue.
In the past, even players like Yusei Kikuchi have called out the aging infrastructure inside the stadium, citing the lack of basic major league amenities, including a broken air conditioner in the weight room.

Misiorowski said the mound affected his outing, which was ultimately decided by Meckler's two-run homer.
Walbert Ureña, the Angels' starter who helped lead the shutout, did not offer similar complaints, prompting some fans to wonder whether Misiorowski's postgame comments were simply an excuse for an uncharacteristically rough outing.
On paper, the NL Central-leading Brewers looked like they should have cruised past the rebuilding Angels.
It wasn't all bad news for Milwaukee, which won Friday's and Saturday's games in Anaheim. On Saturday, the Angels abruptly scratched starting pitcher José Soriano, and the front office released an awkwardly timed statement explaining it was holding him out because of the possibility of a trade ahead of Monday's deadline.
Few teams have signaled they're sellers more aggressively than the Angels this season.

It’s those words that have described the relationship of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The two entered WWE as members of The Shield and came into SummerSlam on Sunday night as enemies. Reigns put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Rollins for possibly the final time of their careers.

Reigns and Rollins went blow-for-blow to start the match before it turned into an all-out brawl in the stands. Reigns delivered the first major blow to Rollins. He caught Rollins trying to spear him through the barricade and powerbombed him through an announce table.
Rollins struck back quickly and delivered his own powerbomb on Reigns through the other announce table. As the two rushed back into the ring, Rollins hit a pedigree on Reigns and tried to pick up the win there, but Reigns kicked out of the pin.
Rollins went back to the well and avoided a spear to hit a stomp. Still, he could not get the pin on Reigns.
The crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis watched closely as the two mammoth wrestling stars played a chess match to gain the smallest advantage. Rollins hit a superplex but Reigns locked in a Kimura lock. Rollins, losing steam, stood back up and nearly hit a Falcon Arrow. Reigns slipped out and speared Rollins – one, two … so close.

Reigns resorted to smack talk, reminding Rollins that he’ll always be No. 2 to him. But as Reigns bounced off the ropes, Rollins hit Reigns with a spear. Still, he couldn’t get the win.
In shades of WrestleMania, both men were putting on an instant classic in front of thousands of WWE fans. The two men, who know each other like the back of their hands. Reigns took a page out of Rollins’ playbook, hitting him with a buckle bomb and a stomp. Rollins got his arm up at the last possible second.
As the two went punch-for-punch, the referee went down. Reigns, in a nod to Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley), hit a Paradigm Shift. He went to spear Rollins but Rollins pulled the referee in between them. It was anybody’s game now. Rollins looked at the title as he stepped over the carnage strewn across the outside ring area.
Rollins took a steel chair, which he used to betray Reigns 12 years ago. Reigns hit Rollins with a quick punch before Rollins could use the chair. Reigns looked at the chair. Rollins waited for Reigns to use the chair, but he cast it aside.
In a sign of mutual respect, Reigns demanded the two finish it in the middle of the ring without the weapon.
More stomps and spears from the two men without a referee kept the match going. The two former brothers locked eyes one last time. Reigns then delivered one last spear.
Reigns pinned Rollins to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
For Reigns, it seems like the ghosts of his past have finally been dispelled. The two competitors looked at each other from the corner. Reigns put out his fist in a final Shield callback. Rollins obliged, leaving his Shield mask in the middle of the ring.

Nader previously admitted to Fox News Digital she felt the pressure of carrying on that legacy — especially when it comes to Anderson.
"Pamela Anderson was the muse of all muses, and she's been on my vision board forever. So, we're going to pay homage to Pam and all the muses of ‘Baywatch’ to the best of our ability. Big shoes to fill. Huge," she told Fox News Digital during the 2026 FOX Upfront in May.
FOX is aiming to introduce the beloved beach drama to a new generation.
Alongside Nader, influencers Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne are also joining the reboot in different capacities — a move Nader believes will only expand the show’s reach.
"It is the most exciting thrill of a lifetime," she said about the project. "I feel like there's so much anticipation and everyone has to wait until January, but I think it's only going to build, the momentum is going to build."
She also revealed the hilarious reason her family actually approves of her new role.
"Well, they're pumped about ‘Baywatch’ because it's a one-piece [swimsuit] — we weren't allowed to wear two-piece bikinis growing up," Nader said. "So they're like, ‘You're following the family rules. You're wearing a one-piece [swimsuit]. So, we're all good.’"
FOX’s "Baywatch" is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
Deadliest animal in every US state revealed, from moose and bears to dogs
A demographic data platform has released a new report identifying the animals most likely to kill people in each U.S. state.
The 2026 report from World Population Review revealed a surprising mix of creatures topping the list, from large mammals such as moose to unexpected threats such as dogs and jellyfish.
According to the report, snakes make up the single largest category nationwide, with several species of rattlesnakes topping the list in multiple regions.
Georgia residents should be most cautious of the pygmy rattlesnake, while Oklahoma's biggest snake threat is the western pygmy rattlesnake.

Meanwhile, Timber rattlesnakes claimed the top spot in both Connecticut and Kansas.

Other rattlesnakes dominating state hazards include the prairie rattlesnake in North Dakota, the Mojave rattlesnake in Nevada, and the eastern massasauga in Michigan.
Several non-rattlesnake species also rank as the deadliest animals in their respective states.
Louisiana's top threat is the eastern diamondback snake and Mississippi's is the cottonmouth snake.
Similarly, Indiana leads with the eastern copperhead, South Carolina points to the southern copperhead, and Hawaii stands out with the yellow-bellied sea snake as its primary concern.

Beyond reptiles, several states face risks from insects and other venomous creatures.
Wasps top the list in Iowa, ticks take the lead in Missouri, mosquitoes pose the highest danger in New York, and black widow spiders are the main concern in Alabama and Nebraska.
A handful of states should be cautious around coastal waters, according to the report.
Tiger sharks rank as the deadliest animal in Rhode Island, while bull sharks pose the greatest threat in Maryland and Virginia.
A jellyfish-like marine creature, called the Portuguese man o' war, is listed as the biggest danger in Delaware and North Carolina. Experts say that while its sting can be deadly in rare cases, it more commonly causes painful welts and skin irritation.
Alligators also rank as the deadliest animal in Florida and Texas, with the American alligator specifically topping Florida's list.
Large mammals also appear prominently throughout the report, with black bears ranking as the deadliest animals in Tennessee and Wisconsin.
North American black bears pose the greatest threat in Oregon, while American black bears top the list in Kentucky and Massachusetts.
In contrast, New Mexico's deadliest animal is the mountain lion, while moose are listed as the greatest risk in Colorado, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Grizzly bears also top the list in Idaho, Montana and Washington, and bison pose the greatest danger in South Dakota and Wyoming.
Whitetail deer were also identified as the deadliest animals in Arkansas, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
In Alaska, despite commonly being household pets, dogs are listed as the state's most concerning animal.
Similarly, coyotes rank as the biggest threat in Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey and Utah.
Overall, snakes dominate the threat landscape, topping the list in 14 states, according to the report.
Bears threaten eight states, while deer and other large ungulates account for 10 states.
Canines, including dogs and coyotes, rank as the deadliest animals in five states.
Biting and stinging arthropods, such as wasps, mosquitos and spiders, account for five states.
Equally, marine hazards also account for five states.
Gavin Williams' perfect game bid leads to benches-clearing altercation between Guardians and Diamondbacks
The Cleveland Guardians went from watching starter Gavin Williams go from pitching a perfect game to a benches-clearing altercation in the matter of moments at Progressive Field on Sunday.
Williams was humming to start this contest, striking out 10 of the first 15 hitters he faced, and as the top of the sixth began, he was looking at a perfect game bid.
But things got interesting when Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder Tim Tawa attempted a bunt on a 0-1 pitch from Williams in the frame. In the unwritten rules of baseball, bunting while a pitcher is throwing a perfect game is very much frowned upon.

Guardians catcher Patrick Bailey took exception, having words with Tawa before the right-handed hitter stepped back in the box.
In the end, though, Tawa served a single to right field and ended both the perfect game and no-hit bid for Williams.

Just a few pitches later, rain in the Cleveland area started coming down in buckets. After Williams threw a brutal wild pitch, umpires called a rain delay, as the grounds crew came sprinting out with the tarp.
But as the tarp was still unfurling, both dugouts were on the field and near home plate as an argument broke out. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was seen walking out of the dugout with pace to clearly say something to the other side, and that sparked the scrum near the dish.
While it was clear both teams were screaming some unkind words toward each other, nothing escalated into a physical altercation between the two teams. It can be implied that Vogt took exception to Tawa’s bunt attempt, but it’s unknown what he said exactly toward the D-Backs.
Then again, the other side of the argument is any hitter can attempt to reach base how they see fit. If it’s a 450-foot home run, or a bunt single, that’s the batter’s right.
But when the Guardians were facing the Minnesota Twins on July 9, Williams was also in a perfect game scenario when Royce Lewis showed bunt during an at-bat. He would eventually hit a single like Tawa did to end the bid.
When the rain delay finally ended, and both teams cooled the tension, the Guardians continued to dominate with a 5-0 victory at home. The Diamondbacks were only able to muster one hit after Tawa’s single, while the Guardians tallied eight hits on the day.
Rookie Chase DeLauter went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Bailey crushed a home run in his 1-for-3 day at the plate.
Williams never made it back into the game after the rain delay, finishing his day with 5.2 innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, one hit and one walk allowed.

Saints make shocking Ja'Lynn Polk retirement move after former second-round pick disappears
At 24 years old, most NFL wideouts are chasing their first major payday. Ja'Lynn Polk is calling it quits. The New Orleans Saints stunned the NFL on Sunday by placing the former second-round pick on the reserve/retired list.
Days before the retirement announcement, Kellen Moore revealed Polk had been away from the team for personal reasons, offering few details.
Shortly after, Polk scrubbed his Instagram account clean and went dark. Less than three years after helping Washington play for a national championship, Polk is stepping away from the NFL.
Polk's pro career never gained traction. He caught 12 passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns during a difficult rookie season in New England.
Despite the disappointing debut, Polk insisted he never lost confidence, telling reporters before the 2025 season, "I don't even think about last year," while adding that he still believed he was "going to be great."
A shoulder injury then wiped out his entire 2025 season, prompting the Patriots to send him to New Orleans in a late-round pick swap while he was still on injured reserve.

After spending nearly a full year rehabbing his shoulder, Polk walked away without playing a regular-season snap for the Saints.

Trailblazing former Republican Rep Kay Granger dies at 83: 'Broke barriers'
Former Rep. Kay Granger, R-Texas, died on Sunday at the age of 83, with her ex-colleagues remembering her as a trailblazer who broke barriers for women.
Granger was the first woman elected mayor of Fort Worth, Texas, as well as the first Republican woman from the Lone Star State elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first female Republican appropriations chair.
After serving in the U.S. House from 1997, Granger retired in January of last year following health challenges and extended absences from Washington.
"As many of my family, friends, and colleagues have known, I have been navigating some unforeseen health challenges over the past year," she said in December 2024. "However, since early September, my health challenges have progressed, making frequent travel to Washington both difficult and unpredictable. During this time, my incredible staff has remained steadfast, continuing to deliver exceptional constituent services, as they have for the past 27 years."

Republican and Democratic lawmakers said they remember Granger as someone who broke barriers for women.
"Kay Granger devoted her life to serving her Fort Worth, Texas community — as a teacher and businesswoman, on the Fort Worth Zoning Commission and City Council, as Mayor, and in Congress for nearly three decades, where she also served as Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee. Throughout her career, she broke barriers for women in public service," House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in a statement.
"Kelly and I send our prayers to her family, loved ones, and the Fort Worth community as we remember her extraordinary life of service and lasting legacy. She was a dear friend who will be greatly missed," he added.
Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., who serves as chair of the House Republican Caucus, said Granger "was a pioneer, a dedicated public servant, and a trailblazing leader who opened doors for generations of Republican women to follow."
"Her impact on Congress and our Nation will not be forgotten. My prayers are with her family and loved ones. Rest in peace," McClain said.
House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., said she was "deeply saddened" by her passing, saying the former GOP lawmaker "devoted her life to serving the people of Texas and our nation with integrity, determination, and a profound sense of duty."

Kai Trump surprised fans when she revealed her choice for her "song of the year."
In a video that she shared on her YouTube channel and TikTok, the 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump admitted that she was caught off guard when she was recently asked to pick a song that "would define your past year."
"And I really did not know. I couldn't think of a song at all. And I'm like, you know what? I just said ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele," Kai said with a laugh. "I don't know, that was like the only song that came up, like came to my head."

Kai has previously named "Rolling in the Deep" as one of her favorite songs. During a video that she shared on her YouTube channel in March, Kai participated in an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session with her fans, in which she was asked about her favorite song. Along with "Rolling in the Deep, Kai also said her top picks include "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses and "House of Balloons" by the Weeknd.
"Or ‘After Party’ by the Weeknd,: she added. "Also ‘Wicked Games’ by the Weeknd. I love The Weeknd."
Kai regularly gives fans a glimpse into her personal favorites including food, hobbies and celebrities during social media Q&As and interviews. During an interview with Fox News Digital, Kai revealed that she had a new celebrity crush after previously naming "Outer Banks" star Drew Starkey in 2024.

Before responding, Kai asked for her phone, noting she "had to look up" her celebrity crush. Upon glancing at the screen, she said, "Oh my God, I know. Why do I need my phone? His name is Drew Starkey. Do you guys know him — ‘Outer Banks?’"
"I'm gonna blush right now!" Kai added as her cheeks turned red, and she fanned herself with her hand.
Kai told Fox News Digital that having her grandfather in office has made her dating life "tricky."
"It's not easy, to be honest with you, but, you know, you gotta live life," she said. "You gotta just keep on doing normal stuff, you know? At the end of the day, I was in high school, lived a normal high school life, and now I'm going to college. So, just kinda live as normal of a life as possible."

Gable lost his mask earlier this year and turned his attention to making amends to the Luchadores he beefed with, including Penta. Gable earned a shot at Penta’s WWE Intercontinental Championship and the two did battle at SummerSlam on Sunday.
Gable survived a Mexican Destroyer on the apron as well as the rest of Penta’s high-flying moves. He then put Penta in an ankle lock and made the superstar tap out. He became the intercontinental champion on his sixth attempt. It’s also his first singles title.

As he realized one of his dreams had finally come true in front of his family and his home crowd, Gable broke down into tears. He was immediately overcome with emotion and tears began to trickle down his cut face.
Penta wrapped the Intercontinental Championship around Gable’s waist as Gable’s family came into the ring.
Penta’s reign ends after 153 days. He won the title in March against Dominik Mysterio. It’s unclear what’s next for Penta or who will become the No. 1 contender for the intercontinental champion.
