Trump’s FCC aims to crack down on offshore call centers, illegal robocalls, chairman says
FIRST ON FOX— The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on a proposal to improve customer service at call centers by encouraging onshoring and strengthening accountability for certain U.S. businesses, Chairman Brendan Carr announced on Wednesday.
The FCC will vote on reforms that can encourage businesses to bring call center jobs back to the U.S. as Carr believes that "Americans get frustrated when they call a U.S. business and end up connecting with a call center located abroad."
The FCC will also explore ways to improve customer service at existing call centers, including a proposal to require call takers to be proficient in American Standard English, and will address illegal robocalls that originate abroad by seeking comment on the targeted use of tariffs or bonds.
"Today, nearly 70 percent of U.S. businesses outsource at least one department, including customer service and call center operations to locations abroad. As a result, too many Americans have struggled to resolve an issue with a representative due to cultural and language barriers," Carr told Fox News Digital.
"Overseas customer service centers also raise concerns about protecting consumers’ personal information. Foreign call centers have also contributed to the rampant influx of overseas scam calls, training staff that later use those skills to defraud consumers," Carr continued. "Our proposal would require disclosure when calls are routed overseas, give consumers the option to switch to a U.S.-based representative, and add stronger safeguards for personal data—all while improving service and creating new economic opportunities here at home. To further discourage illegal robocalls from abroad, the item also seeks comment on the use of targeted tariffs or bonds."
Many corporations shifted their customer service and call center operations from America to a range of foreign countries within the past few decades – with nearly 70 percent of U.S. companies outsourcing at least one department, according to the FCC.

The Commission believes the practice takes jobs away from communities across the country and causes customer service issues for Americans in the process. Carr also believes the overreliance on foreign call centers is a risk to privacy, data protection, and even national security.
The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking will seek comment on ways to encourage and facilitate the onshoring of call centers, steps the FCC can take to improve the customer service and security of communications between an American and any call center that remains abroad and how to address illegal robocall scams that originate inside foreign call centers.
The announcement is the latest attempt by Carr to make life less frustrating for Americans.

Last month, the FCC announced it would seek public comments on the ongoing shift of live sports from broadcast channels to streaming services. The comment period runs through March 27 and replies to the comments are due April 13. The move comes as the NFL, NBA, MLB and other major sports have moved many games from broadcast and cable television to streaming services.
"From a consumer perspective, they were used to, for a long time, you sit down, you flip on the TV and you find your favorite sports game right there," Carr told Fox News Digital at the time. "It was either free, or it was already part of the TV package that you already purchased. In the last couple of years, we've seen a movement of a significant number of games behind paywalls. I think that's been really frustrating for so many consumers."
Carr was appointed by President Donald Trump.
Origin of deadly cancer affecting young adults revealed in alarming report
As colorectal cancer (CRC) is now the leading cause of cancer death in adults under 50, a new report reveals some surprising shifts in the incidence of the disease.
Although rates of CRC have been declining among seniors, those 65 and under are facing a rise in diagnoses, according to a report titled Colorectal Cancer Statistics, 2026, from the American Cancer Society.
Adults 65 and younger comprise nearly half (45%) of all new colorectal cancer cases — a significant increase from 27% in 1995, states the report, which was published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.
The disease is rising fastest among adults 20 to 49 years old, at a rate of 3% per year.
Among adults 50 and under, 75% of colorectal cancers are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Half of the diagnoses in that age range are made between the ages of 45 and 49. Although that age group is eligible to receive routine screenings, just 37% do so.

The report also revealed that rectal cancer is on the rise, now accounting for about one-third (32%) of all CRC cases — an increase from 27% in the mid-2000s.

"After decades of progress, the risk of dying from colorectal cancer is climbing in younger generations of men and women, confirming a real uptick in disease because of something we’re doing or some other exposure," said Rebecca Siegel, senior scientific director, surveillance research at the American Cancer Society and lead author of the report, in a press release.
"We need to redouble research efforts to understand the cause, but also circumvent deaths through earlier detection by educating clinicians and the general public about symptoms and increasing screening in people 45-54 years."
It is projected that 158,850 new cases of colorectal cancer will be diagnosed this year, and that the disease will cause 55,230 deaths, per the report.
More than half of CRC cases can be linked to high-risk behaviors, the researchers said. Those include lack of nutrition, high alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of exercise and obesity.
"These findings further underscore that colorectal cancer is worsening among younger generations and highlight the immediate need for eligible adults to begin screening at the recommended age of 45," said Dr. William Dahut, chief scientific officer at the American Cancer Society.
"The report also shines a light on the crucial importance of continued funding for research to help discover new therapies to treat the disease and advance patient care."

When the disease is caught at a local (early) stage, the five-year survival rate is 95%, the report stated.
Trump teases kingmaker endorsement in Texas ‘soon’ to force other candidate out of runoff
President Donald Trump says he'll soon take sides in the costly Republican Senate primary showdown in Texas between longtime Sen. John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
"I will be making my Endorsement soon," the president wrote Wednesday in a social media post the day after Cornyn and Paxton advanced to a May 26 runoff election. The two heated rivals topped a crowded field of contenders in Tuesday's primary, but since no one cleared the 50% threshold, the nomination race heads into overtime.
Trump added that he "will be asking the candidate that I don’t Endorse to immediately DROP OUT OF THE RACE!"
A Republican operative in Trump's political orbit told Fox News Digital it's expected Cornyn will get the president's endorsement. However, the president has been known to change his mind on candidates or even reverse endorsements.
Cornyn or Paxton will face off in the general election against rising Democratic Party star state Rep. James Talarico, who topped progressive firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a vocal Trump critic, in the Democrats' primary. Talarico is trying to become the first Democrat in nearly four decades to win a Senate election in right-leaning Texas.

This year's Senate showdown in Texas is one of a handful across the country that could determine if Republicans hold their majority in the chamber in the midterm elections. The GOP currently controls the chamber 53-47.
The Cornyn campaign and aligned super PACs spent nearly $100 million to run ads attacking Paxton and Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt — who came in third — with the senator charging in the closing weeks of the primary campaign that Democrats would flip the seat in the general election if Paxton was the GOP's nominee.
Cornyn, his allies and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the campaign arm of the Senate GOP, repeatedly pointed to the slew of scandals and legal problems that have battered Paxton over the past decade, as well as his ongoing messy divorce.
COMBUSTIBLE REPUBLICAN SENATE PRIMARY IN TEXAS HEADED INTO OVERTIME
"Over the next 12 weeks, Texas Republican primary voters will hear more about my record of delivering conservative victories in the United States Senate, and learn more about Ken's indefensible personal behavior and failures in office," Cornyn told reporters on Tuesday night.
"Just like the primary, we have a plan to win the runoff, and we are in the process of executing it. Judgment day is coming for Ken Paxton," Cornyn vowed.
Paxton, a MAGA firebrand and longtime Trump supporter and ally who grabbed significant national attention by filing lawsuits against the Obama and Biden administrations, told supporters on primary night, "As we head into this runoff, we're going to make the choice even clearer. While John Cornyn was cutting deals on gun control and amnesty, I was suing corrupt Joe Biden over 107 times."
And he charged, "John Cornyn spent around $100 million trying to buy this seat. We’ve spent around $5 million."
ROUND TWO OF CORNYN VS. PAXTON GETS UNDER WAY
Trump on Wednesday urged, "for the good of the Party, and our Country, itself, be allowed to go on any longer. IT MUST STOP NOW!"
And pointing to Talarico, the president argued, "We have an easy to beat, Radical Left Opponent, and we have to TOTALLY FOCUS on putting him away, quickly and decisively."
"Both John and Ken ran great races, but not good enough. Now, this one, must be PERFECT!" Trump warned.
Trump, whose clout over the GOP remains immense, stayed neutral in the Republican primary race. All three candidates, who sought the president's endorsement, were in attendance Friday as Trump held an event in Corpus Christi, Texas.
"They're in a little race together," Trump said of Cornyn and Paxton. "You know that, right? A little bit of a race. It's going to be an interesting one, right? They’re both great people, too."
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, the lobbying campaign to clinch the endorsement for Cornyn hasn't stopped, and if anything, is intensifying in the hours since primary night.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., told reporters that Cornyn had "a great night" against Paxton. The top Senate Republican has spent the last several months bending Trump’s ear at every opportunity to jump into the race and back the longtime incumbent.
"He's positioned to win the runoff, and if the president endorses early, it saves everybody a lot of money, and a lot of, you know, just 10 weeks of another spirited campaign on our side that keeps us from spending time focusing on the Democrats," Thune said.
Thune spoke with Cornyn on Wednesday morning, and believed that Talarico was the more formidable match-up for Republicans in November — one that Cornyn was better suited to win. "The matchup that's good for us is John Cornyn at the top of the ticket," Thune said.
NRSC communications director Joanna Rodriguez told Fox News Digital, "John Cornyn remains the only candidate who guarantees state Rep. Talarico never becomes a United States senator and ensures the fight for President Trump’s Senate majority is waged in true battleground states, not Texas."
And the Thune-aligned Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), the top super PAC backing Senate Republicans, which spent millions on behalf of Cornyn in the primary campaign, made it clear in a statement early Wednesday that it will continue to support the senator in the runoff.
"SLF and its sister organizations were proud to support Senator Cornyn early, and we look forward to him securing the Republican nomination on May 26," the group’s executive director, Alex Latcham, said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a GOP political operative in Trump's orbit told Fox News Digital, "Talarico being the nominee makes President Trump's endorsement of Cornyn more important than ever."
While Trump stayed neutral, his top pollster, Tony Fabrizio, helped the Cornyn campaign. And veteran Republican strategist Chris LaCivita, who served as co-campaign manager of Trump's 2024 White House bid, consulted for a top Cornyn-aligned super PAC. LaCivita, in a social media post Tuesday night aimed at Paxton and his top political consultant, wrote, "The second wave is going to be a bitch."
But on the Paxton side of the playing field, operatives and donors are confident they can unseat the senator.
Dan Eberhart, an oil drilling chief executive officer and prominent Republican donor and bundler who supports Paxton, told Fox News Digital, "This was Cornyn’s shot to fend off his challenger by getting over 50%, and he couldn’t do it. The runoff voters will be even less friendly territory for Cornyn."
Pointing to former longtime Senate GOP leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who has often acted as a Trump foil, Eberhart said, "This race is about MAGA vs. McConnell."
Meanwhile, Lone Star Liberty, a pro-Paxton super PAC, circulated a memo ahead of Tuesday’s election that shrugged off threats that Cornyn would succeed in the runoff by continuing to hammer the attorney general over his litany of scandals, arguing there was nothing new to offer.
"Cornyn’s talk of ‘unleashing’ new attacks in the runoff is bluster," the memo states. "The truth is that from day one, his forces fired every bullet they had. There are no new attacks left — only more of the same, at ever-greater cost and with ever-diminishing returns."
Aaron Rodgers refuses to give update on 2026 playing status
Aaron Rodgers wasn’t about to make any major revelations about his playing future on Wednesday.
Rodgers, who is set to become a free agent next week, appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" and was gingerly asked about his thoughts about potentially playing in Year 22.

"Anyone who is expecting me to make any big decision, just turn it off now," the four-time NFL MVP said. "Just leave."
McAfee asked whether the possibility of playing for Mike McCarthy again is something he had been thinking about. McCarthy was named the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers after Mike Tomlin stepped down from the post in January.
"We’re sitting here. It’s March 4th. Free agency starts in a week," he said. "I’ve been spending a lot of time with my wife. We went on a ski trip. Just been laying low. There’s a lot of other things going on with the situation in Malibu that have changed some things.

Rodgers led the Steelers to a playoff berth with a 10-6 record. He had 3,322 passing yards and 24 touchdown passes.
But he only signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. He made that decision on June 9, 2025, after his time with the New York Jets came to an end. He doesn’t appear to be in any rush to make a decision on his future.

Leavitt says ground troops in Iran not currently being considered, doesn't rule it out
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt would not rule out the possibility of the U.S. sending ground troops to Iran, though she said Wednesday it is not being considered at the moment.
During the first White House press briefing since Operation Epic Fury was launched, a reporter asked whether ground troops would be sent into Iran.
"Well, they're not part of the plan for this operation at this time, but I certainly will never take away military options on behalf of the president of the United States or the commander in chief, and he wisely does not do the same for himself," Leavitt said.
"I know there's many leaders in the past who like to take options off of the table without having a full understanding of how things could develop. So, again, it's not part of the current plan, but I'm not going to remove an option for the president that is on the table."

Since Saturday, the U.S. and Israel have carried out attacks on Iran using airstrikes and naval attacks, but neither country has put boots on the ground. The attacks that have been carried out thus far have targeted the regime's security and military infrastructure, including the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials.
Leavitt said the U.S. has four main objectives with Operation Epic Fury: eliminate Iran's ballistic missile threat, destroy its naval capability, disrupt its missile and drone production infrastructure and cut off Iran's pathway to a nuclear weapon.
The press secretary was asked multiple times if the U.S. wished to see regime change in Iran. She repeated the objectives she previously detailed and reiterated the administration's stance on the regime.

"Obviously, as the president has said numerous times, do we want to see Iran being led by a rogue terrorist regime? No, of course not," Leavitt said.
So far, the U.S. has hit nearly 2,000 targets in Iran, and more than 17,500 Americans have returned to U.S. soil from the Middle East since the operation began.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth gave an operational update earlier on Wednesday, saying he U.S. was "decisively" winning, and later adding that Iran was "toast" and if it didn't already realize it, it would "soon enough."
"I stand before you today with one unmistakable message about Operation Epic Fury. America is winning — decisively, devastatingly and without mercy," Hegseth told reporters at the Pentagon.
"The two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies. Uncontested airspace."
Newsom predicts Trump is 'toast,' will drag GOP into midterm wipeout
California Gov. Gavin Newsom taunted President Donald Trump during a late-night appearance on Tuesday, predicting that the November elections would be a wipeout for the Republican Party because of Trump.
On "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," host Jimmy Kimmel said Democratic leaders were not fighting back hard enough against Trump and pointed to Newsom’s push for Proposition 50 as an example of the kind of aggressive response Democratic voters want to see.
Newsom, a likely 2028 presidential candidate, said Democrats had to change tactics against what he called a "historically unpopular" president and predicted Trump would drag down GOP candidates in the midterms.

"Trump is a historic president — historically unpopular," Newsom said. "He's going to get crushed, shellacked, in the midterms. He is. He's toast. And he knows it."
"Gavin Newsom should spend less time auditioning for late-night television and more time fixing the disaster he’s created in California," RNC National press secretary Kiersten Pels told Fox News Digital. "While Newsom trades jokes with Hollywood elites, President Trump is delivering strength abroad and results for the American people at home. If Democrats want the midterms to be a referendum on Gavin Newsom-style policies, Republicans welcome that fight."
The White House did not immediately return Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Newsom made a similar bold election prediction in an interview with MS NOW host Jen Psaki last week.
"The presidency as we know it will de facto end this November when we get the gavel back and Speaker Jeffries becomes the next speaker — as long as we remain vigilant," he said during the Feb. 25 interview.

"Why else did he call Greg Abbott, saying he's 'entitled' to five seats in a mid-decade redistricting?" Newsom asked during the Tuesday appearance on Kimmel, referring to the Trump-backed push to redraw Texas’ congressional map to help Republicans pick up as many as five House seats.
Newsom said Democrats in California responded by moving to redraw congressional boundaries through Proposition 50. The ballot initiative, passed by voters in November, could flip about five Republican-held House seats to Democrats in the midterms.
"Instead, we decided to redraw the lines and, over a 90-day period, raised $120 million, and we kicked his a-- in November and redrew the lines," he taunted.
Newsom warned he was not exaggerating about the stakes, citing the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and warning of further attempts to shape election rules by the administration.
"This is not hyperbolic. You saw what happened on Jan. 6, tried to wreck the country, light democracy on fire, dialed up for 11-12,000 votes in Fulton County. That’s exactly what he’s doing all across the United States," the governor said.
"Not just as it relates to redistricting, trying to nationalize the election, trying to take those voting rolls and purge voters, decide who can vote, who cannot," Newsom added. "Ask the folks in Fulton County what he’s just done. It’s happening in plain sight."

Newsom's warning came as he promoted his new book, "Young Man in a Hurry," fueling more 2028 speculation.
Newsom has acknowledged that he's mulling a presidential bid, telling CBS News last year he would "seriously consider" a run following the 2026 midterms and that he'd be "lying" if he said otherwise.

Zohran Mamdani dodges question about whether Iran is better off without the ayatollah
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani appeared to dodge a reporter's question about whether Iran is better off without Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a press conference Tuesday.
Khamenei, who ruled the Islamic Republic for more than three decades, was killed in an Israeli military strike in Tehran last week.
"Mr. Mayor, do you think Iran is better off without the ayatollah?" a reporter asked.
While Mamdani acknowledged the regime's "systematic repression" of its own people and that it's "killing thousands" of Iranian protesters, he did not answer whether the country is better off without the dictator.

"I've said before that the Iranian government has engaged in systematic repression of its own people, even killing thousands of Iranians who were seeking to express the most basic forms of dissent earlier this year," Mamdani responded.
"It is a brutal government, and I've also said that while I may be a young mayor, I am old enough to remember the devastating consequences of our country pursuing a war with the intent of regime change in that very same region not that many years ago."
Mamdani's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Last week, the mayor faced backlash on social media over his post condemning the U.S. attack on Iran that led to the killing of Khamenei.

On Saturday, as a joint strike on Iran by the United States and Israel was developing, Mamdani slammed the Trump administration's decision in a post on X that has been viewed roughly 20 million times.
"Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression," Mamdani wrote.
"Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change."
Mamdani said Americans prefer "relief from the affordability crisis" before speaking directly to Iranians in New York City.

Man killed in Texas after Border Patrol checkpoint flight and shootout
FIRST ON FOX: A man was killed Wednesday after he fled through a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint and led authorities on a vehicle chase and shootout in Texas.
The incident happened at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint in the Big Bend Sector between El Paso and Van Horn, a remote area.

The shooting involved Border Patrol agents and troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The chase began when the man fled the checkpoint on Interstate 10 near Sierra Blanca. He crashed his car before firing at authorities, sources told Fox News.
Law enforcement officials returned fire and killed him. It was not clear which officers from what agency fired.
No officers or agents were injured, sources said.
California registered sex offender running for city council holds news conference near school; police called
A California elementary school filed a police report against a registered sex offender campaigning for a city council seat after he held a news conference near a school last week while children were on the property.
Rene Campos, 41, who is running in the Fresno City Council‘s District 7 race, spoke Friday outside a church in the downtown area located mere feet away from Big Picture Elementary School, a public charter school.
In a statement, Stephanie Hilton, the school’s executive director, and Diana Gonzalez, its superintendent, criticized Campos over the news conference, calling it a "deeply troubling display of contempt of the law."
"This was not only a potential violation of the legal restrictions placed upon him as a registered sex offender but a profound breach of the trust and safety our school community depends on every single day," the statement said.
The school was open, and students were actively present at the time of the event, it said.
Campos' candidacy has sparked backlash and renewed questions about whether someone with a criminal record like his should hold public office.
In 2018, he was charged with possession of child sex abuse material, according to court records. Campos has said he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge and is now a registered sex offender.
In a previous statement to Fox News Digital, Campos, who is running to unseat incumbent Nelson Esparza, said he has met all legal requirements to run for city council.

"I satisfied every legal obligation imposed under the laws this state enacted for accountability and rehabilitation," he said.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Campos' campaign, the school and the Fresno Police Department.
Campos acknowledged his proximity to the school violated the law during the news conference when asked by reporters.
"I would say, during operational hours, absolutely," he said, The Fresno Bee reported. "I believe they are closed right now. I don't see anyone."
The school said it was open with children visibly entering and exiting the building.
"The legal restrictions that may be placed on registered sex offenders – particularly those involving proximity to schools – exist for one reason: to protect children," the school statement said. "They are not obstacles to be rationalized away with political messaging or reframed as symbols of forgiveness."
Campos reportedly asked the news media to meet him at the church at 3:30 p.m. The elementary school is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to the school's website.
Under state law, a registered sex offender is allowed to serve on a city council. However, Esparza and fellow Fresno councilmembers Annalisa Perea, Miguel Arias and Nick Richardson said they would pass legislation to limit a registered sex offender’s ability to serve as a city councilmember, the newspaper reported.
Campos said Friday he chose the church as the location for the press conference because it has been around for hundreds of years and represents rehabilitation and forgiveness.
Hinton said the school filed a police report, shared its concerns with local officials and directed its legal counsel to issue a cease and desist notice to Campos, according to the Bee.

As the NFL free agency period looms, the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs have pulled off one of the biggest moves so far this month.
All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie is headed back to his home state of California, according to ESPN.
The 25-year-old was traded to the Rams from the Chiefs in exchange for a package of future draft picks.
The Rams sent the No. 29 selection in next month's draft to Kansas City and a fifth and sixth rounder in 2026. The Chiefs also reportedly picked up a third round pick in the 2027 draft.

The pending move brings to mind a prediction McDuffie hinted at before last season began. At a back-to-school event in August 2025, the defensive back said he wouldn’t mind joining the Rams if he were no longer with the Chiefs.

"You're going to get me in trouble," he said as he smiled. "Let's think. If I could play for another team, I'd probably want to play close to my family, so that would probably be the LA Rams so that my family could come see every single game."
McDuffie spent the first four seasons of his pro football career with the Chiefs. He has one year remaining on his rookie contract. ESPN also reported, citing sources, that McDuffie and the Rams will likely work toward an agreement on a contract extension.
The Chiefs picked up the fifth-year option in McDuffie's deal in April 2025, which fully guaranteed his salary for the 2026 campaign.
News of the move drew reactions across the league, including from McDuffie’s soon-to-be former teammate Patrick Mahomes, who simply wrote "damn" in a post on X.
McDuffie was born in Washington, California, about 31 miles from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, where the Rams play their home games. He earned second-team All-Pro honors after a standout 2024 season, finishing with two interceptions and 13 pass breakups.
