Russell Wilson announces retirement from NFL after 14 seasons
Russell Wilson has announced his retirement from the NFL after 14 seasons, a career highlighted by a Super Bowl victory with the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowler and the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, announced his retirement in a video posted to social media.
A third-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson became one of the league's most recognizable quarterbacks, tallying 46,966 passing yards and 353 total touchdowns during a career that also included stints with the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.

F1 drivers say they have reason to believe this year's Monaco Grand Prix will be better
The Monaco Grand Prix may be Formula 1's most iconic and picturesque race, but it's also one of its most consistently dull.
However, there's a lot of hope that this year's race might be a little bit different.
In fact, drivers have a couple of reasons to expect it could be significantly more exciting than in years past.

The first is that this season, the cars are significantly smaller and lighter than they have been in recent years. That's critical because if you're familiar with the layout of the Monaco circuit, there's really not much room to overtake.

"First, we have now lighter cars, which is, I think, a good thing, and we can definitely feel that. And for a track like Monaco, I think this has its benefits," Ferrari driver — who just signed a multi-year extension with the team — and Monaco native Charles Leclerc said, per Road & Track.
Red Bull's Isack Hadjar concurred in the sense that he thinks these cars will be more fun to whip around the streets of Monte Carlo in, but overtaking may not be any easier.
"Smaller cars, lighter — I think it should be more fun than it was last season," Hadjar said. "Monaco is the best qualifying session of the year, so I expect a lot from this weekend. But the racing, I think, is going to be very similar to what you saw in the past. If you want to keep a car behind, it's going to stay behind you."
But it's not just the size of the cars that could make this an interesting race. Because of the nature of the circuit, drivers won't have to be as focused on deploying and regenerating energy from their car's batteries as they have been on others.
"At least I don't think we're going to talk about batteries in Monaco," Hadjar said.
Leclerc noted that this is because the cars will regenerate through the circuit's slower corners, and there are plenty of those.
"I think the electric side is going to be a lot less big in Monaco, just because we'll be recharging quite a bit with all the corners that there are," he said. "I'm quite excited for Monaco. I think it should be a good track for these cars."
Graham Platner avoids mainstream press as scandals surrounding Maine Democrat grows
Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner has been largely avoiding the press in the wake of his most recent scandal.
The presumptive Democratic nominee came under controversy over the weekend after reports revealed that Platner had sent explicit messages to at least six women while he was married. In the days following the reports' release, Platner has continued to make public appearances at rallies but has stopped speaking to mainstream news outlets.
In a newsletter on Monday, News of the United States (NOTUS) reported that Platner had dropped out of a rescheduled phone interview on Sunday after the initial story broke on Saturday.
"It’s been hard to pin down Platner over the past few days. Igor [Bobic] was supposed to interview him Thursday in Maine, but Platner’s team said he didn’t have time. Platner’s staff then offered Igor some time to speak with him by phone on Sunday, but after the story broke Saturday, the interview was canceled again," NOTUS reported.

The Maine Wire, a conservative local news outlet, also shared video on Sunday of Platner's staff blocking reporters from speaking with the Maine Democrat as he left a rally.
On the same day, MS NOW host Eugene Daniels claimed on his show "The Weekend" that Platner's team pulled an interview, after Platner's wife, Amy Gertner, released a five-minute video defending Platner and his campaign.
"It is not gossip if she brought it to the campaign herself and told them what it is. Graham Platner was supposed to come on the show… His team pulled out," Daniels said. "They came to us and wanted to come on. They pulled out. I think we saw why yesterday as these stories came out."
Platner's campaign denied the claim at the time, calling it "flat out inaccurate" and smearing it as an attempt to "get views and clicks."
"This is flat out inaccurate. There was never an interview scheduled – this is just another example of pundits trying to get views and clicks. Graham was busy at back-to-back events today, doing what he loves – talking with Mainers and sharing his vision for a politics that focuses on people's lives, not the pundit or political class in D.C.," a spokesperson said.

However, Platner continued to avoid reporters' questions as recently as Tuesday, ignoring questions from the press before and after a meeting at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
"Mr. Platner, are you here to calm the waters, sir?" Platner was asked by Fox News Digital when confronted as he exited a car to meet with lawmakers, but he did not respond.
Fox News Digital reached out to Platner's campaign for comment.
One exception included brief comments Platner made to local news outlets such as News Center Maine on Sunday, where he criticized mainstream media for focusing on gossip rather than policies.
"It's no surprise to me that the establishment media outlets are just going to run gossip instead of wanting to talk about the things that actually matter in this race, which are the material realities that the Mainers are working with. These people are going to try to make this race about anything but what it's supposed to be about, which is policy. They never want to talk about policy," Platner said.
Platner also claimed the report was made "without any evidence besides the gossip from a former staffer" and called the piece "journalistic malpractice."
"We talked about things in Amy and I's marriage that we've gone through over the years. We talked about that because that's our marriage, and we discussed it with the campaign. What [former staffer] Genevieve McDonald claims isn't true," Platner said before campaign staff abruptly ended the interview.
NPR also released an interview with Platner on Monday but clarified that it was recorded prior to the latest reports.
Platner has also faced a number of controversies before this, including a now-covered-up tattoo that resembled a Nazi symbol, and past controversial comments on Reddit minimizing sexual assault and making crude remarks about masturbation and a deleted post where he claimed a wounded soldier "didn’t deserve to live."
Country rocker Koe Wetzel says mirror reflection after fishing trip sparked body transformation
Country star Koe Wetzel has recalled the moment he realized he "let myself go."
During a recent appearance on the Dumb Blonde podcast, Wetzel recalled going out on the lake to fish with one of his buddies. After a long day on the water, he came back home and looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the man looking back at him.
"We got back and I was looking at myself, I was like, God d--n, I did let myself go. I got on the scale. It was like about two years ago. And I was like, 'I gotta get it figured out,'" the country artist shared.
The "High Road" singer told host Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll's wife, that her husband's weight loss journey also inspired him.

Wetzel shared that he's turned to peptides to aid his weight loss journey, combined with eating a clean diet and spending time in the gym. He credited his use of peptides to helping him wean back on his alcohol consumption.
"The whole drinking thing, I think I'm drinking like two or three times a month maybe," Wetzel said.
"I'll go for a week and a half, two weeks in between drinking, and I'm eating super clean and I'm going to gym five days a week, getting up early in the morning, you know, and watching the sun come up and having that alone time for that 30 to 45 minutes in the morning," he continued.
Wetzel is a Texas-born singer-songwriter known for blending country, rock, grunge, and hip-hop influences into a unique sound often described as "Texas country-rock." He began performing at a young age and gained a loyal following through independent releases such as "Noise Complaint" and "Harold Saul High."
His breakout success led to a major-label deal with Columbia Records in 2020, where he released "Sellout."

During Wetzel's podcast appearance, he told Bunnie Xo that if he didn't get into music he would have ended up "pouring concrete" back in East Texas with his family.
He explained that he prayed to God and asked him to "let him know soon" if pursuing music was the right path for his life. "Cause if not, then I'm either gonna go to the oil patch out in West Texas or I'm gonna go back to East Texas and I'm gonna pour concrete," Wetzel continued.

He said then, he wrote his hit "Noise Complaint" in 2016.
"It was kind of a moment for me that I was like, alright, this is your calling. This is what God set you out to do. So, you need to figure it out and, and, and really hammer down and really, you know, go all in on that," Wetzel concluded.
Rep. Al Green tells Homeland Security Sec. Mullin to 'shut up' after calling him a racist at hearing
Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, was caught on video calling Homeland Security Sec. Markwayne Mullin a "racist" during a House committee meeting Wednesday focused on department funding.
Following the initial outburst, Green proceeded to tell Mullin to "shut up."
The Homeland Security secretary could be seen cocking his head in apparent surprise, as Green continued the verbal attack, repeating "shut up."
"Did you just tell me to shut up," Mullin asked.

As the sound of the gavel rang out, Green shouted back, "It's my time."

Green denied making the comment before again asking Garbarino to "tell him to shut up."
The chairman called for the encounter to be suspended following Green's escalation at the House gathering.
Green has a history of aggressive outbursts, having been ejected from President Donald Trump's primetime address to a joint session of Congress for a second year in a row in February.
He was recently defeated in the Democratic primary runoff for Texas' 18th Congressional District by freshman Rep. Christian Menefee.

Fox News Channel dominates ABC in weekday primetime, delivering highest-rated May for a midterm election year
Fox News Channel defeated ABC in weekday primetime and delivered the highest-rated May in network history for a midterm election year, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.
In addition to finishing as the third highest-rated network in all of television during weekday primetime, FNC averaged 2.8 million viewers during weekday primetime, surpassing ABC's 2.7 million viewers and matching ESPN despite extensive coverage of the NBA and NHL playoffs.
The network also commanded nearly 60% of the cable news audience share across both total day and primetime and accounted for the top 85 cable news telecasts during the month.

"Fox & Friends" remained the number-one cable news morning program for the 63rd consecutive month, averaging 1.3 million viewers, defeating CNN and MS NOW combined among total viewers and leading CBS and ABC in major markets.
Throughout the day, "America's Newsroom," "The Faulkner Focus," "Outnumbered," "America Reports" and "The Story" all averaged between 1.8 million and 1.9 million viewers during the month.
Fox News also won every hour of weekend cable news among both total viewers and adults aged 25-54 beating CNN and MS NOW by double and triple-digits.
On Saturdays, Kayleigh McEnany's "Saturday in America" was the most-watched cable news program of the weekend with more than 1.7 million viewers.
On Sundays, "Sunday Morning Futures" ranked as the day's highest-rated program with 1.7 million viewers, while "Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy" led Sunday primetime with more than 1.5 million viewers.
The ratings report comes as a recent New York Times/Siena poll found Fox News was the leading single source of news among registered voters nationwide, ahead of all other national television, cable and print news organizations.
Trump says anti-fraud efforts are uncovering billions in waste, claims savings could balance budget
President Donald Trump on Wednesday touted Vice President JD Vance's anti-fraud efforts and claimed Republicans are uncovering enough government fraud to potentially balance the federal budget, while accusing Democrats of resisting investigations because they are "in on the act."
In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Vance and Republican officials for what he described as a nationwide effort to identify fraud and waste in government spending.
"Vice President JD Vance and Republicans are doing a great job hunting down Fraud in the various States," Trump wrote. "Billions of Dollars is being found, and we've just started!"
Trump's comments come as the administration has sought to highlight anti-fraud efforts led by Vance. In April, Fox News Digital reported that Vance's newly created anti-fraud task force had identified nearly $6.3 billion in government contracts believed to be tied to potentially fraudulent businesses.
Officials said nearly 400 businesses would be required to prove they had legitimate operations and physical addresses.
The president argued that the amount of fraud being uncovered could have major implications for federal spending and taxes.
"If we found it all, we would literally be able to balance the Budget, and simultaneously reduce Taxes, cutting them even more than I have already done, which is a RECORD!" Trump wrote.
Trump did not provide evidence that fraud findings identified by Republicans would be sufficient to eliminate the federal deficit. While the president argued uncovering fraud could eventually balance the budget, the administration has not publicly released figures showing identified fraud totals approaching the size of the annual federal deficit.

The anti-fraud task force was established by executive order in March, and is chaired by Vance. The administration has said the initiative is designed to identify fraud, waste and abuse across federal programs and government contracts as part of a broader effort to reduce spending and strengthen oversight.
Trump also sharply criticized Democrats, saying he was surprised efforts to uncover fraud had not received bipartisan support.
"Amazingly, Dumocrats are fighting us all the way," Trump wrote. "This is something that I am surprised at, because I thought this would be a Bipartisan effort."

Trump went on to suggest Democrats may oppose such investigations because they have a vested interest in preventing further discoveries.
"It's looking like they're in on the act," Trump wrote.
The president further claimed Democrats do not want Republicans to uncover what he described as "Hundreds of Billions of Dollars of FRAUD!"
Trump later compared Democratic opposition to anti-fraud efforts with several other issues that have become central themes of his political messaging, including transgender athletes competing in women's sports, mail-in ballots, voter identification requirements and proof-of-citizenship requirements for voting.
The administration has made rooting out waste, fraud and abuse a recurring focus of its messaging as it seeks to reduce government spending and defend broader fiscal policy initiatives.
Democrats have argued Republicans frequently conflate fraud, waste and policy disagreements when discussing federal spending reductions and have questioned whether projected savings touted by the administration can ultimately be realized.
Venezuelan gang members who entered US illegally plead guilty to gunning down two unarmed Americans
Federal authorities announced on Wednesday that four members of the notorious Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) pleaded guilty to the May 2024 murders of two unarmed American citizens in New York City.
The gang members, who entered the U.S. illegally, allegedly gunned down Claretha LaQuesha Daniels, 44, and Justin Lawless, 36, in the middle of a residential Bronx street, while also shooting and wounding a third victim, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Keiber "Keybe" Jaen Martinez, Samuel "Klei" Gonzalez Castro, Eferson "Jefferson" Morillo-Gomez, and Keineyer "Keiner" Ibarra-Mujica pleaded guilty in federal court to murder through the use of a firearm and using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
'GOTAWAY' ILLEGAL AND TREN DE ARAGUA GANG MEMBER ACCUSED IN SUBURBAN HOTEL MURDER
A fifth TdA member recently pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and a gunpoint carjacking, bringing the total number of convicted TdA defendants in the case to eight.
Law enforcement officials described Tren de Aragua as "one of the most vicious gangs on planet earth."
"They rape, maim, and murder for sport," U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Markwayne Mullin wrote in a statement. "Under President [Donald] Trump’s leadership, we are targeting and removing gang members from our communities and ensuring those that committed crimes in our country face justice."

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said that after the TdA members illegally crossed the border, they flooded New York City streets with "guns, drugs, sex trafficking, and violence."
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche added the terrorist group has "no place and no future in the United States," and vowed the Justice Department will destroy the organization.
Originally a Venezuelan prison gang, TdA has rapidly expanded into a transnational terrorist organization operating in cities like New York. The group enriches itself through unlawful human smuggling across the border, armed robberies and trafficking a ketamine-mixed drug known as "tusi."
The gang is particularly notorious for the violent sex trafficking of young women, referred to by the gang as "multadas."
The women are smuggled into the U.S. and forced into commercial sex work to pay off smuggling debts. TdA members maintain control over their victims by threatening their families, assaulting them, and tracking down and kidnapping women who attempt to flee.
The convicts face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

It was nearly a carbon copy of the infamous Canseco blooper, but it looked like Adell may have gotten a bigger piece of the ball with his glove before it clocked him in the forehead.
"I was toward the line, and I felt like I had a little bit longer way to go than I normally do on a route like that and just missed it," Adell said, per MLB.com. "It hit off my hat. I don’t know if I overran it and took a step over. But it was kind of the icing on the cake because I was [bad] all the way around the whole day today."
