Jon Rahm drops gigantic F-bomb after missing a birdie putt in disastrous round at the US Open
Golf is arguably the most frustrating sport on the planet, even for the people making millions to play it.
Case in point: Jon Rahm uncorking a monumental F-bomb after missing a putt for birdie at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
Rahm — the 2021 U.S. Open champ — got his tournament off to a solid start on Thursday, finishing the day 2-under.

Friday? Well, I think this clip is a good distillation of his day.
When the Spaniard arrived on the ninth hole, he had already missed some crucial putts for birdie and par, and unfortunately, the trend continued.
His birdie putt missed just right, which led to Rahm flipping his club before belting out a hearty, "F--k off!"
That's a bummer, but I love this.
It just goes to show that getting pissed off at missing makeable putts is a universal part of golf.

If you only listened to the audio from that clip, you wouldn't know if that was Jon Rahm missing a putt at the U.S. Open, or me missing one down at the pitch and putt.
I'll be honest, I think I've said that on mini golf courses.
Getting it into the giant squid's mouth on the first shot is tricky as hell.
Unfortunately for Mr. Rahm, things got worse.
While he managed to sink the next putt for par, he bogeyed five straight holes on the back nine.
Couple that with the three bogeys he made on the front nine, and it adds up to a 78, leaving him at 6-over for the tournament and on the wrong side of the cut line.
So, a pretty frustrating week for Rahm, one that he is probably happy is over after a completely disastrous Friday.

Ibrahimović is known for being a hard guy to impress, but after seeing the USMNT up close for two matches on the world's biggest stage, the sensational Swedish striker is ready to believe.

If I were a betting man, I would still side with the field, as there are plenty of quality teams in this tournament.
But the fact that we are even talking about the USMNT having a chance at winning this tournament is a testament to just how far we've come as a soccer nation.

Tartan Army marches through the streets like something out of 'Braveheart' ahead of match with Morocco
After the United States won its second match of the tournament against Australia to punch its ticket to the Round of 32, all attention turned to a team that has become America's second-favorite in the FIFA World Cup, Scotland.
The Tartan Army has been putting on a show since they arrived in the United States (and before, honestly), and spirits have been high for their first World Cup appearance in 28 years. It got off to a solid start with a 1-0 win over Haiti.
On Friday, they were gearing up for their second match of the tournament against a very good team from Morocco, which opened its slate with a draw against Brazil.

Just like their first match, this one was at Boston Stadium (also known as Gillette Stadium), and the city has really embraced Scotland and their supporters.
Look at what was going on before the match.
I half-expected to see Mel Gibson with blue paint slathered on his face out in front leading them down the street.
How do you not get wrapped up in that? The bagpipes, the booze, the kilts! You'd have to be missing a pulse not to get swept up in it.

For those keeping score at home, yes, that was the second soccer hooligan duck of this World Cup, which I'm pretty comfortable declaring is a record.
Scotland supporters were well represented inside the stadium and belted out their unofficial national anthem, "Flower of Scotland."
Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the excitement to subside a little bit when Morocco scored an early goal in the second minute, and that was all they needed.
Scotland pressed hard late and got some stellar opportunities, but it wasn't enough, with Morocco winning 1-0.
That moves Morocco — one of the favorites to go all the way — into first place in Group C, while Scotland falls to second.
The next match for the Scots is another tough one against Brazil, down in Miami.
Measles-infected traveler may have exposed passengers at LAX and nearby hotel, health officials warn
A traveler infected with measles may have exposed passengers at Los Angeles International Airport and guests at a nearby hotel after arriving in Los Angeles County earlier this month, health officials said Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said it is investigating a confirmed measles case involving a traveler who arrived aboard Cathay Pacific Flight CX 884 on June 11. The traveler was infectious while passing through Los Angeles County, potentially exposing others at LAX and the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel.
The case marks the sixth measles infection reported in Los Angeles County this year. Health officials said the risk of exposure could increase as summer travel ramps up and Los Angeles welcomes international visitors for FIFA World Cup events being held in the region.

According to health officials, anyone who was at the Tom Bradley International Terminal between 10 a.m. and noon on June 11 may have been exposed. Officials also identified a potential exposure at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel, located at 5711 W. Century Blvd., between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. that same day.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with local health departments to notify passengers who were seated near the infected traveler on the international flight.
People who were at either location during the listed times could develop symptoms between seven and 21 days after exposure, officials said. The last day to monitor for symptoms is July 2.

JD Vance tells Israeli critics 'you can't kill your way' out of national security problems
Vice President JD Vance spoke candidly with The New York Times’ Ross Douthat this week about how pro-Israel factions are criticizing the Iran deal with the U.S., saying at one point Israel couldn't "kill" its way out of its problems.
"You've seen people in their system — [Itamar] Ben-Gvir and [Bezalel] Smotrich — who've attacked the deal. And I guess my response to them would be: What is your exact proposal? You're a country of 9 million people," he said in the interview posted Thursday. "You can't just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have."
The U.S. and the Iranian regime have crafted a new Memorandum of Understanding to re-open the Strait of Hormuz and address the Islamic regime’s nuclear program. Critics say the arrangement echoes the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal — which President Donald Trump has long derided — by granting Tehran economic concessions before securing permanent restrictions, while supporters argue it is the most practical way to prevent a wider Middle East war and a potentially devastating shock to the global economy.
"I don’t think this deal is popular in Israel right now. I don’t think you’re an especially popular figure in Israel today," Douthat said, asking whether he agrees with the growing perception that there is a misalignment between the interests of the U.S. and Israel.

He clarified that while he believes this deal is the best possible scenario for the world at large, "Fundamentally, we're worried about what's in the best interest of the American people. And to the extent that — and I think the president has shown this — where he sees misalignment between the goals of the political system in Israel and the goals of the American people, he's willing to say that we're going to pursue America's interests where there are divergences."
Vance went on to note that while he has not seen Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticize the deal, other Israelis have been quite vocal.
Vance made a reference to Ben-Gvir, the Israeli National Security Minister, who said in a recent controversial X post in response to the killing of four Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah, "With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn. Our supreme duty is to protect the citizens of Israel and the soldiers of the IDF, and this commitment takes precedence over every other consideration."
Vance's remarks to Douthat come as he warned Israeli officials against "attacking the only powerful ally that I have left anywhere in the entire world" while speaking at the White House this week.

"Look at what we've accomplished," Vance told Douthat. "First of all, Americans have protected a lot of Israeli lives through our missile systems and through our missile programs over the last few months. We have destroyed their nuclear program. We have got the Iranians at a point where they are offering things — again, whether they'll actually act on them, we'll see — but they're offering things that would have been the stuff of dreams even six months ago. So let us play this negotiation out."
He was later asked by Douthat what he would tell more hawkish GOP figures like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who might fear the deal with Iran is a "big sellout."
"We're in the business of solving real problems, not solving abstract problems, and so, if your view is that opening the Straits, getting them to commit to the destruction of the enriched uranium, and any other number of potential benefits that will come along with this deal — it's not just whether this is good or bad, it's, ‘What is the alternative?’ ‘What do you want to do?’" Vance asked.
"If your proposal is to send 200,000 ground troops into Tehran so that you can make Reza Pahlavi the leader of that country, then say that," he said. "But I don't appreciate criticism without alternatives."
Elmo makes it clear he's rooting for Team USA after New York Knicks fans put his head on a pike
It's very hard to get mad at Elmo from "Sesame Street." Really, it's kind of hard to get mad at any Muppet (except Pepe the King Prawn; he's always trying to steal your girl if given even half a chance), but this week Knicks fans were still irate at Elmo for not picking a side in the NBA Finals.
Well, Elmo wasn't going to stand idly by and watch his head on a pike get paraded through the streets of New York, and for the USMNT's game against Australia, the little red third-person-talking Muppet picked a side.
And he's all in on USA, baby.

But hey, the last time Elmo got people whipped up into a frenzy like this was way back in the days of Tickle Me Elmo, and at least then they were excited to see him.
They weren't doing this to the poor guy.
Actually, come to think of it, I may have seen some footage like that taken inside a Kmart in like 1997... but still, it would be really rough to see that happen to Elmo multiple times in one week.
This is a nice change of pace. Perhaps we'll now see the opposite thing happen this time around. While Knicks fans waged war with Elmo, maybe US fans will grow to embrace Elmo as a quasi-mascot.
Until things go south, then his head might end up with a one-way ticket to Pike City.

Australia World Cup manager Tony Popovic calls out referee after big loss to Team USA
Australia coach Tony Popovic shared his thoughts on a referee after Friday's 2-0 loss to the U.S. in Seattle.
"I think today was, I wouldn’t say the best day for the referee," Popovic told reporters after the game.
A controversial moment came when the Americans appeared to score their second goal. The play was initially called back for offside, but after a VAR review, officials determined the goal was valid and let it stand.

The U.S. found the back of the net at the end of the 43rd minute after a free kick was stopped, and then Alex Freeman, the son of former NFL player Antonio Freeman, headed a ball in. The score was immediately protested by the Australians, who felt their goalkeeper had been impeded or there was an offside. After a VAR review, the call stood, and the goal was awarded.
Tensions boiled over late in the match when a physical altercation broke out. Australia's Harry Souttar grabbed the USA's Folarin Balogun in what commentators described as a "rear naked choke." Zwayer regained control by issuing yellow cards to Balogun, Souttar and Australia's Jacob Italiano.
Australia received four yellow cards, while the U.S. received three.
Popovic was seen approaching German match official Felix Zwayer after the game, with urgency.

Zwayer also pulled up with a cramp towards the end of the USA’s win. The German official, 45, required help from both the USA’s Folarin Balogun and Australia's Aiden O'Neill, who stretched out his left leg after Zwayer fell to the turf.
Still, the manager did give credit to the Americans and admitted his players looked "sluggish" on Friday.
"I don't know if it's the occasion, but we looked sluggish, heavy-legged ... They won every duel, they won every second ball and when you do that, it makes it very difficult to gain any momentum. And then we conceded two soft goals," he said.
"When you think, you know, this noise here — host nation — I think the players show how good they are in the second half, but obviously at this level, you can't give away that much in the first."
With its 2-0 record, the United States is in first place with six points, while Australia remains with three and in second place. Both Paraguay and Turkey, who face off on Friday to potentially determine the USA's group fate, are winless with zero points.
The United States would clinch a Group D victory, and a favorable draw in the Round of 32, if Paraguay either beats or ties with Turkey — that game kicks off at 11 p.m. ET.
Karmelo Anthony runs away after murdering Austin Metcalf: surveillance video
New videos and photos released Friday show the moments leading up to and after Karmelo Anthony stabbed Austin Metcalf to death with a knife during a confrontation at a Texas high school track meet.
The videos were made public Friday by Collin County court following Anthony's first-degree murder conviction earlier this month.
One piece of surveillance showed Anthony fleeing the tent where he stabbed Metcalf, running through the stands and onto the track in Frisco, Texas, on April 2, 2025.
Another surveillance video shows Anthony walking by the track tents before the stabbing, and a third shows him being taken into custody on the track soon after.
Among the other images released were a blood-soaked jacket and the folding Ozark Trail multi-tool knife prosecutors said was used to fatally stab Metcalf, as well as the bleachers at David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco on April 2, 2025.
The newly released trial exhibits from the murder case include crime scene photos, images of the knife prosecutors said was used in the stabbing, 911 calls and police body camera footage shown to jurors.
ANOTHER LAWYER JOINS KARMELO ANTHONY'S APPEAL AS KILLER CLAIMS HE CANNOT PAY FOR COUNSEL
The bodycam video captures the moments after Anthony was taken into custody following the fatal stabbing of Metcalf at a high school track meet. In the footage, Anthony is heard telling officers, "He put his hands on me. I told him not to. He put his hands on me."
The video shows an officer check Anthony's pockets then ask him his name, school and grade as he puts him in a police vehicle.
In audio released of the 911 call after the attack, a person can be heard saying that an athlete was stabbed, and an Army veteran was compressing the wound. People can be heard yelling in the background.
The caller added that Metcalf was now unconscious and not breathing. Later in the video he said Metcalf appeared to be breathing again.
As he speaks to the 911 operator, a man can be overheard shouting, "Stay with me, Austin!"
"There's a lot of blood. He's not breathing," the caller said, adding that he didn't know at the time who stabbed him. But he said that the students would know.
The operator then takes him through the process of stopping the bleeding.
Later, the the caller says that he could see the suspect being taken into custody not far from where Metcalf lay.
"Come on, Austin," a man can be heard saying as they give Metcalf chest compressions. "Fight through, Austin!"
The call ends as paramedics arrive.
Anthony used a blade to stab Metcalf after the teen and his brother confronted him while sitting in their team’s tent at Memorial High School, prosecutors said. Anthony, who was 17 at the time, admitted he stabbed Metcalf but claimed he acted in self-defense.
During Anthony's trial, prosecutor Bill Wirskye noted that the 3½-inch-long weapon used by Anthony was "not particularly a quality knife," but it ultimately proved lethal when he pulled it from his backpack during the confrontation.
Anthony was sentenced this month to 35 years in prison for the stabbing, which ignited a wave of criticism from his supporters over the makeup of the jury. Anthony will be eligible for parole after serving half his sentence.

Other images released Friday show a deep gash on Metcalf's chest with a forensic ruler placed beside the wound. Another shows Anthony near the football field where the track meet was being held at the time of the killing.
A short video appears to show Anthony being arrested by responding officers. One of the officers says to another as they arrive: "This is the alleged suspect."
"I know how it goes," a voice is heard off camera. "I'm not alleged. I did it."
Collin County District Judge John Roach, who authorized the release of the images and videos, told Fox News Digital that he understood the public's desire to know what happened in the case.
"The overwhelming focus on my ruling regarding the media in the courtroom was to protect the process, witnesses, and jury. Now that the trial is over, it is important to me to provide transparency," he said.
One image shows Anthony's hands cuffed following the deadly incident while sitting in the back of a police vehicle with what appears to be blood on his left hand.
Metcalf's father, Jeff Metcalf, previously told Fox News Digital that surveillance footage of his son's fatal stabbing would contradict many of the claims that circulated online after the deadly confrontation at a Texas track meet.
Now, with Collin County releasing trial exhibits presented to jurors, the public is getting its first look at evidence shown during Anthony's murder trial.
Metcalf, who viewed the footage before it was played in court, said he believed its release would answer lingering questions about what happened beneath the Memorial High School team tent the day of the murder.
"The video clearly shows the conversation lasted less than 10 seconds. That's it," Metcalf previously told Fox News Digital. "There was no four-on-one."
Metcalf said the footage contradicts claims that Anthony was jumped, surrounded or attacked by multiple students before the stabbing.
"He wasn't jumped. There was no four-on-one. He wasn't surrounded," Metcalf said. "Look at the video. There's a shove and there's a stab, and it's over and he runs away. That's it."
Michigan trio allegedly beat, strangled and gagged man at Las Vegas hotel to collect on gambling debts
Three Michigan men face a slew of charges related to the violent kidnapping of a man at a Las Vegas hotel who allegedly owed gambling debts, according to reports.
Issa Hamade and Ahmad Harb, both 32, and Sobhi Sobh, 33, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, extortion, conspiracy, battery with intent to commit mayhem, robbery or grand larceny, and coercion with force or threats, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
During court proceedings in Clark County, Hamade was identified as a dentist from Dearborn, Michigan, while Harb works as a disc jockey and Sobh works as a physical therapist.
The trio allegedly lured Naved Azim, a New York resident, to a hotel room at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip, according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report cited by the newspaper.

Azim was then beaten, strangled, suffocated with a pillow, gagged, and stuffed in a closet. The men then demanded $185,000 from Azim's father to cover gambling debts owed to Harb, police said. However, Harb subsequently told investigators that the amount owed to him was $325,000.
A short video call was made to Azim's father to show him his badly beaten son on his knees, the report states.
"Listen, your son scammed me of 185K in fake sports bets. I want my money, period," the message said, according to police.
"The males began taking photos of Naved's family and friends' locations, contact information, and addresses," police said. "The males stated that they would hurt his family and friends if Naved did not pay back what was owed."
During Wednesday's court hearing, Hamade's attorney, Michael Troiano, said his client was an upstanding citizen and that Azim was involved in what he described in court as a fraudulent gambling scheme, the newspaper reported.
"My client had absolutely zero involvement whatsoever in the bets, the conspiracy, essentially any of the alleged facts other than he was supposedly in this hotel room," Troiano said.

Sobh's attorney, Ryan Helmick, said "there's going to be a lot to uncover" regarding the facts of the case. A representative of the Clark County public defender's office said Harb has no criminal record, the newspaper reported.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the LVMPD, as well as the legal teams for Hamade and Sobh and the Clark County public defender's office, for comment.
Azim told authorities he made sports bets with a "promoter/bookie," which led to him meeting Harb. At one point, Harb asked Azim to place a $2,300 bet on a New York Knicks basketball game, which eventually had a payout of $20,000.

Azim never placed the bet but told Harb that he did, he allegedly told police, according to the report.
"Naved did not tell Harb that the bet was never placed and decided to create a fake DraftKings sports betting ticket to reflect the bet," police said.
Harb continued to place bets with Azim, who failed to make the wagers due to a lack of funds, police said. Harb continued to believe that he had tallied up to $100,000 in winning bets.
"Naved believed that Harb would eventually lose a bet which would help cover up his lie of placing the bets; however, that did not happen," police said.
All three suspects were each granted $100,000 bail and ordered to have no contact with Azim.
Folarin Balogun coaches referee through stretches after official cramps up during USA vs Australia match
The U.S. Men's National Team is 2-0 at the 2026 World Cup after a gutsy 2-0 win over the Socceroos that certainly wasn't easy at times.
Not even for the officials.
It was a hot day in Seattle, and it looks like that may have been a factor in German referee Felix Zwayer going down momentarily late in the game with what looked like a cramp.

And, in a scene you don't see every day, got a little assistance from Australia's Aiden O'Neill and U.S. star Folarin Balogun — who scored two goals in the opener against Paraguay and opened the scoring against Australia by setting up an own goal from Cameron Burgess — who coached him through some stretches.
Now, that's not something you see every day...
Zwayer was back on his feet after stretching with the help of Balogun and FIFA medical staff, plus another official ran over with a mystery liquid — judging by his reaction, I'm thinking it was maybe pickle juice — that he gulped down.
I'm sure Zwayer was a little embarrassed having to go down on the field and have an anti-cramp potion rushed out to him, but he shouldn't be.

All that was was a reminder of how insanely fit soccer referees have to be.
Referees running many miles every single game is one of the fun facts you hear from time to time and then forget about until the next time you hear it, then you say, "Yeah, that's right, I did hear that somewhere."
Well, there's a prime example of the physicality involved with the job.
It's not just jotting notes on the back of a card you just held in some dude's face.
