'Slap on the wrist': Illegal immigrant trucker's sentence ignites outrage after crash killed 3
Trump administration officials and conservatives torched the sentencing result for an illegal immigrant trucker who killed three people in a fiery California semi-truck collision, after he was given less than five years behind bars.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who called the sentencing a "slap on the wrist," said his agency will not stop "until ALL illegal alien truckers are put out of business and held accountable," while the Department of Homeland Security said immigration officials were standing by to arrest the trucker "upon his release, so he is never allowed back on our roads."
Jashanpreet Singh, a 21-year-old Indian national who federal authorities said was in the United States illegally, was sentenced Tuesday to four years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence stemming from an October 2025 crash on Interstate 10 in San Bernardino County, California. Singh’s semitruck plowed into slow-moving traffic, killing three people and injuring several others, while dashcam video showed him never applying the brakes before impact.
"This is a wildly insufficient punishment for a foreign national, in our country illegally, who killed 3 people with a truck," Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said.
"Despite taking the lives of 3 people in a horrific eight-vehicle crash, criminal illegal alien Jashanpreet Singh was given a SLAP ON THE WRIST prison sentence of less than 5 years in sanctuary California," DHS said following news of Singh's sentencing. "Illegal aliens like this killer should NEVER be allowed behind the wheel or on our nation’s roads. ICE stands ready to arrest Singh upon his release so he is never allowed back on our roads to take another innocent life."
"5 years is a slap on the wrist for KILLING 3 AMERICANS," the Transportation Secretary added. "If California followed the rules, illegal aliens like Jashanpreet Singh wouldn’t be driving 80,000 pound missiles down our roads We won’t stop until ALL illegal truckers are put out of business and held accountable."
Singh crossed the southern border in California’s El Centro Sector in March 2022 and was released into the U.S. under the Biden administration pending an immigration hearing, according to federal sources. He later obtained a California commercial driver’s license in June 2025, according to the Department of Transportation.
Federal officials had previously warned California about compliance issues involving commercial driver’s licenses and directed the state to pause new licenses to non-citizens and review existing licenses to make sure they complied with federal requirements. Fox News Digital previously reported that Singh should have been disqualified under an emergency DOT policy, while California officials said his eligibility was based on federally approved employment authorization documents.
Meanwhile, during an April debate among candidates for California governor, several running as Democrats said they would fight the Trump administration's push to get California police officers to begin issuing English proficiency tests for big rig drivers in the state because it's racist.
"Racial profiling is illegal. And, in fact, picking on people based on the color of their skin in the state of California, is illegal," Democrat megadonor and billionaire businessman Tom Steyer said when asked if he would support a policy enforcing police to issue road-side language proficiency tests to truck drivers.
"Is that officer asking everyone he pulls over to explain those road signs? Or, is he asking only people who look like me? If he's doing that, then he's violating the law," former Biden administration Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Beccera said, slamming a police officer in a short local news clip that was played by debate moderators showing an officer issuing a field test to determine if a commercial driver who spoke Spanish could understand road signs.
But then-Republican California gubernatorial hopeful Sheriff Chad Bianco, who was forced to bow out after not qualifying for the general election in the state's nonpartisan June primary, slammed his Democratic opponents for pulling the race card.
"Let's stop with this whole racism thing, and racial profiling and all of this garbage. We have to get over this. You either violated the law or you didn't. End of story," Bianco said. "Consequences for bad behavior."

If you're in the market for a taxidermied raccoon — and let's be honest, who isn't? — you may have some trouble tracking one down, and that's all thanks to soccer player Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian superstar took the tournament by storm, leading his team to the quarterfinals and becoming one of this edition of the World Cup's biggest names.
Not just because of what he did on the field, but also because of the way he fully embraced American culture, part of which involved certain souvenirs.

Haaland was seen hopping off the team plane back in Norway with a stuffed raccoon holding an empty bottle of booze.
That got a lot of attention because, well, let's be honest, it's a little odd. It also turned out that it was part of a taxidermy collection the Manchester City star picked up during the tournament.
That raccoon getting Haaland's stamp of approval meant that suddenly there was a surge in demand, one the western shop where he bought it is having trouble meeting.

According to Front Office Sports, Dallas' Wild Bill's Western Store is fresh out of stuffed raccoon and has even been shipping internationally for the first time because of the demand.
There's a good lesson here: you never know where your biggest success could come from.
There's no way the Wild Bill's Western Store long game was, "So, in 2026, the World Cup will be in the U.S., and we're going to bank on a Norwegian guy having a real affinity for stuffed raccoons."
If that is how they drew it up, more power to them, but I'm comfortable assuming that it wasn't.
But hey, I'm sure they won't complain about Erling Haaland using his power to influence global taxidermied raccoon demand to help their bottom line.
I certainly wouldn't.
Meanwhile, the TSA — which has really been faced with some strange conundrums thanks to the World Cup — posted on X that there's no rule against flying with a booze bottle-wielding stuffed raccoon, but suggested consulting individual airlines.
Alcatraz boat victim identified as 79-year-old; search continues for 3 missing people
A former California reserve deputy sheriff has been identified as the person who died after a pleasure boat carrying members of an extended family capsized in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island.
Clifford Joseph Boisa, 79, of Sutter County, died after the three-level recreational vessel sank Tuesday afternoon with 20 people aboard, authorities said. The Sutter County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that Boisa served as a reserve deputy sheriff beginning in 1987.
Three passengers remained missing Wednesday as the U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies continued an extensive search of the bay. Sixteen others were rescued, including three people who were taken to local hospitals.
The passengers were members of an extended family gathered for a memorial service that included scattering a loved one's ashes in San Francisco Bay, according to a report from The New York Times.

San Francisco Fire Chief Dean Crispin said crews were dispatched at about 3:35 p.m. local time after receiving reports of a vessel fire roughly 600 yards off Alcatraz Island between the former prison and the Golden Gate Bridge.
When first responders arrived, they found no evidence of a fire, but instead discovered the boat had capsized and was already mostly submerged.
Crispin said the San Francisco Police Department's marine unit found the vessel with only its upper deck above the water. The boat's engine was still running, and fuel was leaking into the bay.
One person was found in the water, while the remaining occupants were located inside the vessel's top compartment before rescuers pulled them to safety, he said.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the boat to sink. However, officials have said strong summer winds and rapidly changing conditions on San Francisco Bay can create dangerous boating conditions.
Commercial fishermen Mike Montoya and Justin Marceline, who rushed to help after the vessel went down, described a frantic rescue as passengers fought to escape.
"There was even people banging at the windows as they were like filing out, and as soon as people were hitting the water, we were just trying to pick them up as fast as we can," the fishermen told NBC Bay Area. "Some people didn't even have life vests on and they were drowning."
The Coast Guard and San Francisco Fire Department continued searching Wednesday using boats, helicopters, thermal imaging, tide predictions and drift modeling to find the three missing passengers.

The Sutter County Sheriff's Office told Fox News Digital it had no additional information to provide about Boisa. Fox News Digital also reached out to the San Francisco Fire Department for additional information.
Officials said the vessel departed from the area near San Francisco's St. Francis Yacht Club. The cause of the sinking remains under investigation.
Boisa's family did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Other than that? Crickets. No baseball tonight. Only one game tomorrow. We do get the British Cup, which is nice.

OK, let's get class started with Tony Romo — who America has really turned on in recent years — telling the viewers he ain't listening when they mock him for the weird noises he makes in the CBS booth:
"I'm OK with it," Romo said during this week's "Pardon My Take" podcast. "It's been a long time since I've taken offense to people.
Romo continued:
"You're on air three hours a week, you're gonna do something right ... we do more right than wrong, otherwise we wouldn't be in the position we're in. But I think, with anything, you're always going to do something wrong ... I want to teach. I want people to understand 'why,' because there's so much of that that goes into it. 'Why did they make this decision? Why did they run the ball on fourth and two?'
"I just feel like that's what people want, and the more people I talk to love it. There's a gazillion people who come up to you and they like it."
Thoughts? First impressions?
Here's the thing ... I used to love Romo. I think we all did, right? When he first came to CBS, he was must-see TV. Calling out the plays before they happened, and being right all the time. The enthusiasm. It was awesome.
Somewhere along the way, something changed. The Nostradamus stuff wore off. The enthusiasm sort of died away. He became obsessed with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Brutal. About 10 Sundays out of the year, Romo calls a Patrick Mahomes game at 4:25 on CBS, and it's just the worst. Once in a while, he gets the Mahomes-Allen game, and it's painful.
I don't really care about the weird noises Tony makes while calling a game. His "I don't know Jim!" has become a bit of a calling card over the years. It's fine. It's fun.
But the other stuff? The Mahomes-Allen obsession? The BRUTAL game he had last year in the wild card round in which he claimed he was sick? That's the stuff that annoys me.
OK, that's a lot of Romo to begin class. Again, though, it's July 15th. There is nothing going on right now. There's a reason sports writers take the entire month of July off, you know?
Not me. I'm a patriot. I go down with the ship!
Let's rapid-fire this Hump Day class into a big Hump Day Night. First up? This Paige Bueckers is just intolerable:
"I'm for equal opportunity, no discrimination based on what you look like, who you like and anything of that nature. I grew up with a lot of prominent Black women in my life that were very important to me in how I was raised and how I grew up, being my stepmom, my AAU coach."
"I understand how amazing they are and how they should get the same equal opportunity as a white woman, as a white man to be an important piece of this league. And it was built on a lot of black women, this league, so it's definitely right for them to get the same equal opportunity as everyone else."
Good lord.
For some reason, Paige was talking about the lack of black coaches in the WNBA. Talk about a slow time of year! Good God. It's just exhausting. They're all so exhausting. The virtue-signaling, pandering, full-of-crap WNBA players who act like we're still living in the 1800s are just so exhausting.
I don't think the WNBA has a racial problem, Paige. I think you're good. I think it's covered.
Lordy.
Next? Where do we stand on this?
You know what? The more I think about it, the more on the fence I am. Originally, I was all for later sunsets. But I think as I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the early sunrise a little more.
I also live in Florida and none of this really applies to us because it doesn't get dark that early down here during the "winter."
But, I also lived in Boston for four years, so I fully understand just how miserable January-March evenings are. You can go DAYS up there without seeing the sun, especially when you're in college and going to bed at 5 a.m. half the time.
Tough call.

Do not SQZ this elderly Florida woman's A55, no matter what her new license plate says
Not all hilarious license plates are on purpose. And this 76-year-old Florida woman wants everyone to know that her new "SQZ A55" license plate falls into the unintentionally hilarious category.
Nancy Dello Stritto, from Pompano Beach, did not order the new plate which could be interpreted as "squeeze ass" and she isn't happy about receiving it either. That's why she called the news out to her retirement community.
"I don’t think a woman that lives in a senior community that’s going to be 77 years old next month will be driving around with what this plate has to say," Stritto said, reports FOX 8 Live.

While she isn't a fan of the the new plate and the message it might send, others including her sons and her friends have told her she should keep it. An 89-year-old neighbor of hers is among them.
"And this is what I received from the DMV for my new license plate. That's good for 10 years," she told the neighbor, reports 10 Tampa Bay News, to which he replied, "Good."

Stritto still plans to let the state know about the license plate, but she is for the time being planning to keep the plate and see what kind of reactions she receives when out in public.

"I can handle it if I get a few honks here and there. Actually, being over 70, I might like a few honks," she said of the new plate.
That's the spirit. A "SQZ A55" license plate arriving in your mailbox while simply renewing your vehicle registration is a gift. A gift that shouldn't be tossed aside without at the very least giving it a test drive in public.
A honk or two here or there could be what you need to put some pep in your step that day.

President Donald Trump said he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, even as Moscow warned Wednesday that Western troops deployed to enforce any eventual peace deal would become Russian military targets.
"I say, ‘Vladimir, it’s time for you to stop. It’s time for this war to end,’" Trump told Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst in an interview released Tuesday.
Trump said he believed Putin was "ready to make a deal" to end the fighting.

Meanwhile, fighting continued across Ukraine and Russian-occupied territory.
The intensifying drone war has forced both militaries to search for additional ways to intercept unmanned aircraft, sometimes using weapons designed decades before modern drones emerged.
A video supplied by East2West shows a Russian soldier apparently losing control of a Soviet-era YakB-12.7 rotary machine gun mounted on an improvised ground platform.
The weapon begins spinning violently, dragging the service member around before throwing him several yards from the mounting. Another soldier ducks as the gun swings in his direction.
East2West reported that no one was injured, though Fox News Digital has not independently verified the location, date or circumstances of the footage.
The four-barrel machine gun was originally developed for use aboard the Soviet-designed Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter. Russian forces have reportedly attempted to repurpose such weapons as ground-based defenses against Ukrainian drones, East2West news reported.
TRUMP SAYS US WILL LET UKRAINE MAKE PATRIOT MISSILES IN MAJOR POLICY SHIFT
On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said any multinational force deployed by Ukraine’s allies after a ceasefire would be unacceptable to Moscow.
"We would regard such units as legitimate military targets," Zakharova said, according to a Reuters report published Wednesday.
Members of the Western "coalition of the willing" reaffirmed at a meeting in Paris this week that they intend to deploy a multinational force after hostilities end. The proposed force would seek to reassure Ukraine and help Kyiv rebuild its military.
Ukraine’s military said Wednesday that its forces struck the Balaklava thermal power station in Russian-occupied Crimea, a facility that accounts for nearly half of the peninsula’s electricity generation, according to Reuters.
Russia, meanwhile, launched another major drone and missile attack against Ukraine’s southern Odesa region, killing three people, regional Governor Oleh Kiper said. He said civilian, industrial and port infrastructure had been targeted during five consecutive days of Russian attacks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said Wednesday that Ukraine expects to develop the technical capability to manufacture missiles for U.S.-made Patriot air-defense systems by the end of 2026.

'Top Gun: Maverick' actor James Handy's final moments revealed in autopsy report
There is evidence that "Top Gun: Maverick" actor James Handy may have been incapacitated by neck compression before he was fatally stabbed, Fox News Digital confirmed.
Given evidence found during Handy's autopsy, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office claimed "it is possible the neck compression occurred prior to the infliction of the stab wound and may have incapacitated the decedent prior to the stabbing."
The report confirmed Handy died from multiple traumatic injuries caused by a combination of a stab wound to the torso and neck compression. The manner of death was ruled homicide.

According to investigators, Handy became involved in an argument with his girlfriend's son, which escalated into a physical fight.
Authorities claimed the suspect mounted Handy, dragged him to the side of the residence, entered the home, returned with what appeared to be a knife and allegedly stabbed the actor. The suspect and the weapon were taken into custody.
Michael Gledhill, 44, was charged with one count of murder with a special allegation that he personally used a deadly weapon, a knife, June 5.

Police claimed officers found the 81-year-old actor stabbed in the chest and lying unconscious outside a home in Los Angeles days before. Handy was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Gledhill did not appear at his arraignment on June 5, where Superior Court Judge John H. Reid ordered that Gledhill be sent to mental health court and undergo psychological evaluations. Another judge will decide whether he is competent for trial.

Gledhill remained behind bars after the court hearing with bail set at $2 million. He faces up to 26 years in prison if convicted. His arrest came after he allegedly confessed to the crime.
According to police, a 911 caller stated, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin."
According to investigators, Gledhill flagged down officers as they arrived and told them he was the person they were looking for.
Gledhill is the son of Handy's girlfriend of 30 years, Wendy Gledhill. Actor Brian Delate, who knew Handy for over four decades, told The Associated Press that a few times over the past couple of years, Handy mentioned in passing that his girlfriend's son had mental health problems.
"I didn’t think much of it, because he just kind of mentioned it casually," he said.
Handy's girlfriend had fixed up the garage so her son could live there, Delate said. Handy had his own home.
Born in New York, Handy appeared in films and TV shows for decades.
He was known for his role as an exterminator in the 1995 film "Jumanji" and more recently as the bartender Jimmy in the 2022 film "Top Gun: Maverick," according to IMDB. He’s also appeared in some of the top TV crime dramas, including "NCIS: Los Angeles," "The Closer" and "Cold Case."

Nevada governor name-drops during traffic stop and avoids red-light citation
Newly released bodycam video shows a routine traffic stop involving Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo ending within seconds after the Republican official name-dropped himself and then drove away without a citation for an alleged red-light violation.
The roughly one-minute video shows a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sergeant stopping Lombardo's pickup truck near Mandalay Bay on May 15 after the officer said the governor failed to come to a complete stop before making a right turn at a red light.
As the officer approaches the passenger-side window, he greets the governor.
"Hello. How you doing, sir?" the sergeant says.

Before the officer can finish explaining why he initiated the stop, Lombardo interrupts.
"I'm Joe Lombardo," the governor says.

Moments later, the sergeant ends the stop without issuing a citation.
"You're good to go, sir. Appreciate you. Have a good day."
The exchange lasts roughly 15 seconds.
Lombardo's office told Fox News Digital that the governor and his wife were on their way to Harry Reid International Airport when they were briefly stopped by Las Vegas police on May 15 over what the office described as "a question about whether Governor Lombardo had come to a complete stop while turning."
"Governor Lombardo spoke with the officer, fully complied with all instructions, and was promptly on his way," the statement said. "He remains grateful for the professionalism of the officer involved and for the service of law enforcement officers across Nevada."
The governor's office also disputed any suggestion that Lombardo was attempting to use his position to influence the officer by mentioning his name.

"At no point did the Governor invoke his office and seek — or expect — preferential treatment," the statement said.
According to the governor's office, the officer first introduced himself, and Lombardo replied by giving his own name "as a matter of courtesy."
Lombardo, a Republican who served as sheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for eight years before being elected governor in 2022, was traveling with his wife, Donna, at the time of the stop.
The video quickly drew criticism from Nevada Democrats, who questioned whether the governor received preferential treatment because of his position.

"As a former law enforcement officer, I'm outraged that Joe Lombardo thinks he's above the law and dismissed a police officer just doing his job," Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno said in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "It's clear that Lombardo's 'tough on crime' approach doesn't actually apply to him after he name dropped his way out of a traffic violation. Nevadans deserve to know if Lombardo thinks, because of his position, he should be able to avoid responsibility for breaking the law," the statement continued.
The Las Vegas Police Protective Association, which endorsed Lombardo's gubernatorial campaign in 2022 and backed him again this year, defended the handling of the stop after providing the bodycam video to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Union President Steve Grammas told the outlet the encounter reflected the type of discretion officers routinely use during traffic stops and rejected the suggestion that Lombardo received preferential treatment.
"It is an absolutely nothing car stop," Grammas told the Review-Journal. "Thousands of those happen every month. We don't write everybody a ticket."
Grammas said the sergeant already recognized Lombardo as governor and former Clark County sheriff, making it unnecessary to spend time confirming his identity before explaining the alleged violation and ending the stop with a verbal warning.

Seattle fire crews respond to 3-alarm Industrial District warehouse fire, roof partially collapses
Firefighters in Seattle responded to a 3-alarm commercial warehouse fire in the city's Industrial District early Wednesday morning, nearly 24 hours after another fire in the nearby Central District.
The blaze broke out just before 1 a.m. local time on the 4500 block of 7th Avenue S and reportedly involved two tractor trailers that were on fire and extended to the warehouse, Seattle Fire spokesman David Cuerpo said at a press conference near the scene.
Officials found multiple large metal and plastic barrels inside one of the trailers and surrounding the building, prompting them to put out the fire from a safe distance, he said. Cuerpo confirmed that the barrels inside the trailer and around the building were empty upon further inspection.

Firefighters reported that the roof of the warehouse partially collapsed at 1:15 a.m., preventing personnel from entering the remnants of the building. Crews extinguished the fire around 3:22 a.m. and did not report any injuries. An investigation is still underway, Cuerpo said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
This comes after another fire broke out in another commercial building on Tuesday morning, approximately 20 minutes away on the 2700 block of E Madison St. in the Central District. The fire broke out at approximately 3:22 a.m. and crews were able to extinguish the fire at approximately 5:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and Cuerpo confirmed that the cause of the fire was accidental in the same press conference on Wednesday morning.
