Shedeur Sanders ditches rookie number as Browns announce change heading into 2026 season
Shedeur Sanders is making a jersey change heading into his sophomore NFL season, and he’s going back to his Colorado roots.
Sanders, who wore No. 12 during his rookie season, will wear No. 2 next year for the Cleveland Browns.
As the Browns made it official on social media, Sanders did so as well, writing "#2" on X to coincide with his squad.

The move comes after wide receiver DeAndre Carter, who wore the number for Cleveland last season, is no longer on the roster. Now that he has a year under his belt, Sanders can make the change.
And he does so with his old college number, as Sanders wore No. 2 at Jackson State University before transferring to Colorado, as his father, Deion Sanders, took the head coach role with the Buffaloes.

While he was wearing No. 12 last season, Sanders started the year in a depth role, as veteran Joe Flacco was Kevin Stefanski’s starting quarterback. But, when Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals following Joe Burrow’s injury, Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds before Sanders in a shocking NFL Draft for the Buffaloes product, took over the role.
He would be Gabriel’s backup, but after the latter’s struggles and injury, it was Sanders’ time to step up.
Sanders won his first-ever start against the Las Vegas Raiders and went 3-4 across seven starts as he remained the starter for the remainder of the season. Since then, Stefanski was fired; head coach Todd Monken was hired, and the veteran coach who served as John Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens echoed what the Browns said heading into 2026 — there will be an open quarterback competition.
Monken told NFL Network at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix on Monday that the Browns haven’t "gotten that far yet" in terms of naming Sanders their starter heading into the team’s offseason program.
Deshaun Watson, who has had a turbulent Browns tenure, is back in the fold, while Gabriel is back healthy heading into 2026.
Sanders surely understands he’ll have to prove himself again with a new coaching staff in the building, as that’s ultimately the nature of the NFL except for a rare group of certified starters.
But Sanders has a Pro Bowl under his belt already despite the small sample size on the NFL gridiron. He’s looking to build off the momentum of last season, but it’ll be a fresh start with a new number.

Teacher of the Year finalist gets 14 years for sexual relationship with student she kept contacting
A former Colorado teacher and a 2025 state Teacher of the Year finalist was sentenced to 14 years in prison after authorities say she engaged in a sexual relationship with a student and reportedly continued contacting him after being criminally charged.
Tera Johnson-Swartz, a 45-year-old writer and former STEM School Highlands Ranch educator, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of cybercrime, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 19. Officials indicated that the cybercrime charge stemmed from her continued contact with the student.
The former teacher was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old, which was discovered around January 2025 when the student’s parents found texts containing sexually explicit content, according to The Denver Post.
Johnson-Swartz, who had been recognized as one of seven finalists for Colorado’s Teacher of the Year just five months before the investigation, was ultimately charged in two separate cases. The first stemmed from a grand jury probe into the relationship in early 2025 and the second tied to her continued contact with the student.

Documents show the relationship started with texting but quickly escalated, with Johnson-Swartz giving the student cigarettes, letting him use her marijuana vape pen, and eventually engaging in a physical relationship, the local outlet reported.
She was reportedly suspended from the school once the allegations surfaced and was later fired and banned from campus.
Less than a month later, the involved student was caught on camera leaving campus and getting into a car that matched Johnson-Swartz’s vehicle, according to CBS. The teen reportedly admitted to investigators that his former teacher had picked him up and driven him to a nearby neighborhood.
The incident sparked an investigation, and in February 2025, detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Johnson-Swartz on charges of kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Johnson-Swartz secured a $100,000 bond with the assistance of a professional bondsman and was released the following day, the outlet said.
However, over the Fourth of July weekend that year, authorities were alerted by the student’s parents, who reported that the two were still in contact, according to CBS.
The two reportedly encountered one another for two consecutive nights and Johnson-Swartz began calling and texting in the days that followed.
Johnson-Swartz was arrested again. In addition to her prison sentence, she was reportedly ordered to complete six years of sex offender probation after her release, which includes registering as a convicted sex offender.
Fugitive illegal alien convict on the run after attempting to strike ICE officer with vehicle: DHS
An illegal alien with a long criminal history remains on the run after he attempted to hit a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer with his vehicle in California as authorities were trying to arrest him, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Monday.
ICE was attempting to take Xa Lee, a fugitive and Laotian citizen, into custody on March 25 in Sacramento. Lee was driving when he was pulled over, according to DHS.

During the vehicle stop, Lee attempted to flee and tried to strike an ICE officer with his car.
"The officer, thankfully, did not sustain injuries. During the incident, ICE officers deployed their tasers. He fled the scene and remains at large," DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said. "This is just the latest in a disturbing trend of vehicle attacks."

A federal immigration judge issued a deportation order for Lee in 2010. His criminal record includes convictions for vehicle theft, stolen property, conspiracy, petty theft, two DUIs, resisting an officer, battery, and felony possession of a firearm.
DHS noted that Lee's evasion of arrest came amid a history of webinars by Democratic elected officials who advised undocumented immigrants on how to evade ICE and report encounters with federal immigration authorities.
The agency cited California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Dan Goldman, both Democrats.
All four politicians have repeatedly called for the Trump administration to halt its deportation campaign targeting criminal illegal immigrants.
"DHS is once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement," the agency said.

Detransitioner Chloe Cole accuses media of ‘trying to suppress’ coverage of transgender shooters
Detransitioner Chloe Cole said during a recent appearance on "The Adam Carolla Show" that mainstream media outlets are "trying to suppress" coverage of transgender individuals in violent incidents, arguing the issue is tied to broader mental health concerns.
"A lot of the mainstream media is trying to suppress those incidents of these, these transgender shooters and not make the obvious connection between their mental health issues leading to their transition and then the tragedy that unfolds," Cole said.
The discussion began with host Adam Carolla questioning the psychological effects of hormone treatments and pharmaceuticals.

"It would stand to reason to me that if you're undergoing all this hormonal therapy … your brain's got to be just sort of all over the road," Carolla said, asking whether that could make violent behavior "much more plausible."
Cole then referenced her own experience with transition-related treatments, saying the medications left her feeling disoriented and altered her sense of reality.
"Having been on these drugs myself, I know just how disorienting it is … being told that this is going to make you happy and then it just distorting you further and further," she said.
Cole said the public conversation often swings to extremes, with some avoiding the topic altogether while others reduce complex cases to a single explanation without examining broader factors or context.
"There’s people who of course are just immediately dismissing them as, ‘Oh, they’re just – they're crazy, and they just have mental illness,’" Cole said.
Cole argued that deeper mental health issues are often left unresolved, with medical professionals and cultural pressures reinforcing transition rather than addressing root causes, calling it a broader institutional breakdown.
"The bigger picture is that there is a systemic failure on the part of these individuals to be able to figure out their real problems, and then the doctors worsening that," she said.

Cole also addressed the role of media narratives shaping the broader conversation surrounding transgender violence.
"The mainstream media, by choosing to uphold the ideology rather than question it and its role in these violent incidents, is continuing that," Cole said. "If we want to move forward, if we want to prevent violence, we all have to come together. No matter where we stand on this issue, or politically, we have to have an honest, open discussion about this and face the real problems behind these increasing incidents of transgender violence."
Carolla agreed with Cole's sentiment, emphasizing the need for the public to have an open dialogue about the topic.
"A good note to go out on — an open dialogue," Carolla said.
Bills to honor Charlie Kirk, free speech in several states hit roadblocks
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk has been the focus of legislative efforts by Republican lawmakers across multiple states seeking to memorialize the slain activist.
More than six months after Kirk was assassinated during a campus event at Utah Valley University, many of those proposals remain in limbo, with some facing roadblocks.
As the TPUSA founder participated in a debate event as part of his "American Comeback Tour," he was shot in the neck and later pronounced dead at the age of 31. Tyler Robinson was later arrested and now faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder.
Oklahoma State Sen. Shane Jett introduced two pieces of legislation honoring Kirk on Sept. 17, 2025, just one week after the assassination. The first bill, SB 1187, would require public colleges and universities in the state to establish "a dedicated square or plaza" honoring Kirk. The Republican's legislation states that the designated square or plaza shall include a statue of Kirk, adding that the design and size would be approved by the legislature. The bill describes two options for statues: either Kirk sitting at a table with an empty seat across from him or one of Kirk and his wife, Erika, holding their children.
The second piece of legislation, SB 1188, would memorialize Kirk by designating his birthday, Oct. 14, as "Charlie Kirk Free Speech Day." Since the introduction of the bill, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt declared Oct. 14, 2025, to be "Charlie Kirk Day." If SB 1188 passes and Stitt signs, the designated day would become an annual tradition in the Sooner State. However, both SB 1187 and SB 1188 remain in committee.
In Minnesota, Republican state Sen. Nathan Wesenberg introduced a bill appropriating funds for a statue commemorating Kirk's life. The bill allocates $25,000 in Fiscal Year 2027 from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota. According to the legislation, the statue will be placed on the university's Twin Cities campus.

"I introduced this bill to honor Charlie Kirk’s work to foster respectful debate and free speech on college campuses," Wesenberg said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. "The point of the statue is to remember that political violence will not silence free speech."
"While I originally drafted the bill for the U of M to have the statue as the largest campus to reach the most students, I am considering turning it into a competitive process so that any college campus could apply for this funding," he added.
Wesenberg's bill, which was introduced in late February, has been referred to the Environment, Climate and Legacy Committee.
University of Minnesota Regent Robyn Gulley expressed concern about the legislation earlier this month. Gulley expressed her sympathies to Kirk's family in a statement to The Minnesota Daily, but said that erecting a statue to Kirk on the University of Minnesota's campus could be seen as "disrespectful," citing the TPUSA founder's disdain for higher education.
In Tennessee, a bill aimed at requiring public universities to build memorial plazas honoring Kirk was stalled earlier this month. The legislation would have mandated the establishment of courtyards at public higher education institutions. Each of the memorial areas would be known as the "Charlie Kirk Memorial Courtyard for Civil Debate," according to the bill, which also included required measurements.
The proposal would have cost taxpayers more than $18 million and resulted in the construction of 47 courtyards statewide, The Tennessean reported. The bill was moved to summer study after facing pushback in the state's House Education Subcommittee over the price tag, according to The Tennessean.
Following Kirk’s assassination, President Donald Trump posthumously awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom on what would have been his 32nd birthday. He also declared Oct. 14, 2025, to be the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. Later, Trump honored Kirk at the State of the Union, which the slain activist's wife attended.

DHS slams California 'sanctuary' county after mom allegedly murdered by 2 Honduran nationals
FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) slammed a California county for not honoring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer requests for two illegal aliens accused of murdering a 24-year-old mother earlier this month.
Franquin Inestroza-Martinez, a Honduran national, and Gerzon Jose Chirinos-Munguia, also of Honduras, were arrested in Santa Clara County for allegedly killing Kembery Chirinos-Flores with a shotgun in early January.
Chirinos-Munguia is the father of Chirinos-Flores’ 5-year-old son, and was previously arrested in 2018 for battery and false imprisonment, and subsequently in 2019 for domestic battery and threatening crime with the intent of terrorizing, DHS said.
He was released back into California without ICE being notified in both 2018 and 2019, according to DHS.

"A man lost his life, and a child is now without a mother. These illegal aliens should have never been able to commit these horrific killings and must NEVER be released from jail into American communities," DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital in a statement.
Inestroza-Martinez, the alleged accomplice of the boy’s father, also had an outstanding arrest warrant from New Jersey for the homicide of a 55-year-old in March 2025, according to DHS.
DHS said he was deported from the U.S. in 2013, then again in 2018. He illegally re-entered the country at an unknown date and time before allegedly murdering both the man in New Jersey and Chirinos-Flores.

DHS pointed to the California Value Act (CVA), a "sanctuary" law which prohibits local police from asking suspects about immigration status and limits cooperation between federal immigration agents and local authorities.
"Instead of cooperating with ICE, Santa Clara sanctuary politicians REFUSED to honor ICE’s arrest detainer and will not notify ICE when these murderers are released from jail," Bis added. "This insanity of refusing to turn cold-blooded killers over to ICE must end."
The CVA was signed into law in 2017 in response to the immigration efforts of President Donald Trump during his first term.
The Trump administration sued California over the law throughout 2017-18, though the suit was dismissed by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. The suit failed again during appeal and the Supreme Court declined to hear the case in 2020.
CBS News reported that the child was not harmed in the incident and has since been placed in the custody of child protective services.
"Kembery was in the prime of her life. She was working two jobs, and she was the loving mother of a 5-year-old son," Santa Clara Department of Public Safety Chief Dan Pistor said at a press briefing following the arrests.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Board President of Santa Clara County but did not receive a response.

Jayapal floats reparations for illegal immigrants impacted by Trump crackdown, demands prosecutions
Amid President Donald Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown, one congressional Democrat is calling for reparations for foreign nationals who are affected.
"We are going to have some form of reparation for the kids and the families that have been traumatized through all of this," Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., said Friday during a congressional hearing, referring to illegal immigrants. "You talked about how there's no support for people even once they're released. We need to make sure that we are funding that kind of work to continue to provide relief."
Jayapal, the former chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), made the comments during the seventh installment of a hearing series titled "Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump’s Attack on Children."
The left-wing lawmaker said reparations for illegal immigrants affected by Trump’s crackdown efforts would be just one item in a series of reforms she would push Democrats to pursue if they retake House control in November.

Jayapal, who was born in India and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, also said she wants "offensive action" regarding those who are carrying out Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown.
"We need real accountability, because at the end of the day, the people that have been inflicting this harm need to be prosecuted," Jayapal said. "They need to be brought before us, and they need to be held to account for the trauma that they have created."
A spokesperson for Jayapal did not respond to a Fox Digital inquiry about who specifically she wants to see prosecuted or who would be eligible for reparations.
Reparations refer to financial compensation for a specific group intended to address reputed economic harms. Many progressive Democrats have long advocated for reparations for the descendants of American slaves.

Throughout the hearing, congressional Democrats repeatedly called attention to the children of deported illegal immigrants, while saying little about the victims of illegal immigrant crime.
The group of Democratic lawmakers did not discuss 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, who was allegedly shot and killed by a Venezuelan national illegally living in the United States in Chicago earlier this month.
Jayapal's comments came during the record-breaking Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that has continued to drag on with no end in sight.
She and nearly all House Democrats have refused to fund the department until the Trump administration agrees to various proposals that could rein in immigration enforcement.
"I have been clear since the start of the appropriations process: I will not vote to give Trump’s ICE or CBP another cent without major reforms," Jayapal said Friday following her vote against a two-month DHS funding extension.
Though Democrats have been willing to fund the non-immigration parts of DHS, most Republicans have rejected that idea because it would effectively defund law enforcement.
Zeroing out appropriations for ICE and the Border Patrol would continue to force support staff employed by those agencies — have not received a full paycheck during the seven-week funding lapse — to keep working without pay.
Kid Rock sparks US Army investigation after military helicopters stunt at Tennessee estate
Kid Rock came under fire by the US Army after the musician shared a clip of what appeared to be military helicopters hovering above his Nashville residence.
The "Cowboy" singer pumped his fist in the air as two helicopters idled outside his home in Tennessee, dubbed the "Southern White House."
"I think they're gonna be alright," he told WKRN. "My buddy is commander in chief. I mean, what are they looking into? They stopped seconds … a minute?"
Rock, 55, explained that he regularly says "whats up" when the pilots are practicing in the area. "It was pretty cool they stopped right there," he explained of Saturday's maneuver. "I wasn't expecting any of that, but I thought it was pretty neat."
Rock, whose full name is Robert Ritchie, cheered as an Apache attack helicopter hovered by his pool, which featured a life-sized sculpture of the Statue of Liberty.
"This is a level of respect that s--- for brains Governor of California will never know," the musician captioned his video.

The AH-64 Apache helicopters reportedly flew over the No Kings protest in downtown Nashville earlier in the day.

"These helicopters were flying a route in the Nashville vicinity for training purposes. Any association with the No Kings Rally also happening in Nashville that day is entirely coincidental," said Bless.
Kid Rock is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, backing him in all three of his presidential campaigns.
He performed his song "American Bad A--" at the 2024 Republican National Convention with altered lyrics to showcase his support for Trump.

Leavitt took a moment at Monday's press briefing to highlight a recent study from the Media Research Center showing CBS News dedicating two minutes and one second of coverage towards Gorman's murder while ABC News spent just one minute and 19 seconds and NBC News spent just 23 seconds total.
She tied the murder, allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant who was roaming the streets of Chicago after being released into the country by the Biden administration, to the ongoing showdown on Capitol Hill as Democrats continue to block DHS funding over its objections to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"I think her life was worth more than 23 seconds on cable television," Leavitt said. "And I think the people in this room have a responsibility to report on cases like this because it just exemplifies why the president believes so strongly in deporting illegal aliens from our communities."

Representatives for ABC News, CBS News and NBC News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.
While the three broadcast networks offered scarce attention to Gorman, the liberal cable networks turned a blind eye.

MS NOW has not mentioned the slain college student once after her murder began gaining national attention, according to Grabien transcripts. CNN has also avoided the story with the exception of a guest, Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., who invoked Gorman's murder during an interview and a separate instance where CNN aired live coverage of a separate White House briefing where Leavitt previously mentioned Gorman.
DHS confirmed that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, is "a Venezuelan criminal illegal alien" who was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and released into the country under the Biden administration in 2023. Medina-Medina was released again one month later after being arrested for shoplifting.
The Chicago Police Department formally charged Medina-Medina with first-degree murder.
